  1. I'm wondering if all professional sporting events are rigged. The last Superbowl (American football) seemed rigged, with horrendous calls made at crucial moments in the game. The theory is there was a new modern stadium built, so they had to let that team win to pay off the stadium. In this tournament, the most penalty calls in favor of any team were suspiciously for Argentina. Consider this. Messi is Fifa's precious boy. They want him to have the perfect career. When they artificially create legends, it generates more interest in the game. Sth else I find extremely odd. Every single player on the French team is of African descent, yet an African team never seems to make it to the semi-finals of these tournaments?
  2. Yes, I am aware of this line of reasoning. It has been made by many experts. However, a small minority of folks, myself included, have rejected this in favor of the following reasoning: Anyone who is reasonably metabolically healthy can tolerate high glycemic foods and associated spikes. Obviously, that doesn't include highly processed foods. Therefore, I eat all fruits, regardless of their glycemic index. If I die young, I'll let you know. P.S. The Japanese eat a lot of white rice, but still live long. But I don't eat rice.
  3. RE: oxalates in vegetables --> some people avoid all vegetables due to oxalates and other anti-nutrients. they eat NO vegetables at all ever. RE: Consuming too many carbohydrates could be bad for your brain -- > is it a good idea to treat all carbs equally? is it the carbs that are bad for the brain or sth in the high-carb foods that is bad for the brain? for instance, bread contains gluten. and many people are gluten intolerant to varying degrees. so maybe it's the gluten in bread causing issues? cake sold in supermarkets contain seed oils ... could it be that the seed oils are causing problems and not the actual carb numbers? and the reason I make this point is to point out that fruit is also a high-carb food, but fruit doesn't contain gluten nor seed oils. and therefore lumping all carbs together and reducing a food to a macro-nutrient may not be accurate. maybe some carbs like fruit are needed in the diet. i have some other points about this, but I don't want to make the post too long.
