  1. If I've been too much of an ahole, I really do apologize. But I have just watched a video with a sound recording of Yogananda. And I stand by my original statements. I am 100% convinced based on what he says and how he says it ... the way he speaks ... the tone of his voice ... .... that this man was a fraud, a charlatan, and a cult leader. He has all the classic characteristics of a cult leader. I am not following this thread anymore. Title of video on Youtube: PARAMAHANSA YOGANANDA - THE PURPOSE OF LIFE
  2. I'm not posting any more nor reading any more replies. I think I'm disrupting the flow of the conversation too much and maybe deterring other posters from participating.
  3. Here is a Tweet about Yogananda:
  4. It's debatable whether the other 20 quotes that came before that one are excellent or mostly more nonsense. Which I will NOT debate. Because it's highly subjective anyway. Art is a perfect analogy. You could literally put paint on your butt cheeks, sit on a canvas, wiggle around, and someone might think it's a masterpiece and pay 20 million dollars for it. It's not just about the quotes. Anyone can say anything that sounds ok or makes reasonable sense. But it's the overall "vibe" you get from the person uttering the quotes. And it's the comparison with other people who have uttered things that are more useful. But the good news is that I am getting tired of criticizing "your gurus". This is exhausting.
  5. I was joking when I asked you to provide a link. I stated a FACT - that transgenders undergo surgical procedures. You're denying that surgery is involved? My little conspiracy is that medical folks enjoy lining their pockets with these surgeries. Please don't reply. I don't care what you think.
  6. He is an actor. These are all "staged fake performances" designed to manipulate people. And it's highly effective. Millions of people are being manipulated.
  7. The Mayo Clinic. Yes, of course. The doctors performing these surgical procedures are making a fortune. So, it's very gracious of them to write a neat little blog with all the sub-categories neatly defined.
  8. God Almighty is the main god. God Short-pants is his underling.
  9. do you have a link from a reputable source to back up that claim?
  10. you people are dogmatically telling me who the great masters are and who i should be studying. it's just your opinion. i read a couple of quotes from khalil gibran that impressed me more than yogananda's or seth's quotes. i'm taking a hiatus here. i actually do not enjoy being an ahole.
  11. trans involves surgery and altering the human body. not a black or white simple issue.
  12. So what? So he's not the spiritual master you make him out to be. And you're deluded about how effective or useful or truthful those teachings actually are.
  13. my impression from reading that quote is that he is telling people how to 'scam' their way into a woman's pants. anyway, we are living in parallel universes. as everyone interprets everything around them differently. to some people, he's a guru. to me, he looks like a fake.
  14. another hooker thread! long overdue.
  15. I've been digging up a bit more dirt on this yogananda dude. seems like he was indeed quite the womanizer, as all cult leaders are. here's the quote at 12:06 of the video. "If a woman doesn't want sex, tell her she is not like other women."
  16. no, don't give me homework man! i'm too cool for skool.
  17. Nutrition is rather complex. And science seems to be inconclusive and/or contradictory in some aspects of health. This is why you can find doctors/nutritionists debating each other online. They simply cannot agree on everything. That's why I have learned to try not to be too dogmatic about my beliefs regarding nutrition. And my beliefs change over time. So at some point, you have to take in information and make up your own mind. I'm outta here.
  18. I think Yogananda claimed his body survived 40 days after physical death. Ha ha. Why do you want to join the ashram? I want to become a guru so girls will like me.
  19. perhaps it was rude to assume he drinks alcohol. and yes, he might be disabled. my apologies then.
  20. Sorry if you find this post useless. Maybe his condition is so bad that none of this information is useful. But I believe the body is remarkably resilient. Go see doctors. AND also doctor yourself as much as possible. Get him off the alcohol. Not one more drop of alcohol allowed. Get him off junk food as much as possible. Maybe have him take some supplements - Vitamin B-Complex, Vitamin K2 is good for arteries Get him to go for daily brisk walks. Start with 5 minutes. Can he walk 5 minutes without being too much out of breath? Increase slowly to 10 minutes and keep increasing to 45 minutes or an hour a day without making it too strenuous.
  21. "Rice is great if you're really hungry and you want to eat two thousand of something". -- Mitch Hedberg
  22. yeah, ok. i did. i looked up some of his quotes. here's a real doozy. "cosmic energy enters the body through the medulla and then passes through the cerebrum, in which it is stored". holy cow! so since you are a devotee of this person, you must have a lot of "cosmic energy" stored in you? how many kilojoules of "cosmic energy" do you have stored in you? give me a number. 2 million kilojoules? you're using this FAKE spiritual nonsense to try to show that you are "MORE SPIRITUAL" than others. just like the guy who has more money and a fancier car likes to show off his wealth. it's NONSENSE. you're a DELUDED FAKE.
  23. I did keto for a while, then i started to add back carbs. because i came to the conclusion it's not healthy long-term. so we agree on that point. one thing I noticed is that the keto folks tend to supplement with electrolyte powders. so that means keto is a deficient diet. and where do most electrolytes come from? fruit. also, is calcium an elecrolyte? not sure, but you need dairy for calcium. so I started eating a lot of fruit. most of my carbs are from fruit. not sure if i'm eating too much fruit. quantities is tricky. some doctors are anti-fruit because they say too much fructose if bad for the liver. i eat some dairy, which has some carbs. i eat a couple of tablespoons of raw honey, which has some carbs. but the fruit and honey also help to curb appetite for unhealthy sweets. most people have a sweet tooth. if they don't eat the only healthy sweets available (fruit and honey), they will end up eating cakes and ice cream and coca-cola. not a fan of brown rice. i think it's undigestible. maybe white rice is ok. not sure. most bread in supermarkets is made with unhealthy oils. but from a nutritional standpoint, fruit is more nutritionally dense than white rice. fruits have a bunch of vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants. compared to white rice, which seems mostly like empty calories to me. and again, the fruits have the added advantage that they help stop cravings for cakes and ice cream. also, mcdougall's recommendations for macro ratios seem inaccurate. too low in (healthy) fat and protein, too high in carbs. and also, i'm not fat but neither do i get my bloodwork done. so i am not really recommending my diet. i just came to this diet based on what i read. and it seems the most sensible to me.
