Non-O visa (Retirement purpose)
Red Phoenix replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No problem then, as there will be no surprises when applying for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement) at CW when you meet the requirements. Non Imm O Visa for reason of retirement application requirements.pdf TM-87 - Application for Visa from Visa Exempt.pdf -
Non-O visa (Retirement purpose)
Red Phoenix replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
@zenplay > At which Immigration office would you apply for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement)? As you might know the requirements will differ depending on the Imm Office where you are going to apply. Be aware that there are some Imm Offices that outright refuse to handle your 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement), even when you meet all the official regulations. And some Imm Offices require more than 15 days left on the Permit to stay from your VisaExempt or Tourist Visa entry (e.g. Chiang-Mai requires 21 days and Phuket requires 15 working days). Also the rogue Chonburi offices (Jomtien and SriRacha) impose some additional requirements and want the +800K seasoned already for 2 months when applying for your 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement). And these offices also KEEP your Passport during the under consideration period, which is extremely inconvenient. -
Non-O visa (Retirement purpose)

When you apply for the 90-days Non Imm O Visa (retirement) and your application is accepted by your local Imm Office, it still needs Divisional HQ approval. That's a pure bureaucratic process and it is extremely rare that an application sent for approval to Div HQ is not approved (sometimes but also very rare they might require some additional documents and then local Imm will contact you to provide these). So when your local Imm Office accepts your application and sends it for approval to Div HQ you can be as good as certain that it will be approved. However, you will not get the 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement) stamp yet, as there will be an 'under consideration' period, which normally takes approx 2 weeks (and that's the reason you need to apply for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa when you have still at least 15 days left on your Permit to stay). Normally your local Imm Office will provide you with a temporary stamp and staple a document in your Passport with the date that you should present yourself there to get the approved 90-day Permit to stay stamp in your passport. -

Non-O visa (Retirement purpose)
Red Phoenix replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
YES, you will be able to get hold of the required Bank-documents on the same day that you apply for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement). It's just a matter of FIRST going to your bank before heading to your local Imm Office. At your bank you would #1 - First have to make a small deposit or withdrawal - as some Immigration Offices want to see the Balance on your personal Thai bank-account (+800K) at the moment of application #2 - Then have your Passbook updated - and request the Bank staff to make copies of all the pages in your Pass-book #3 - Then ask the Bank staff to provide you with a statement that you are the owner of the Bank-account, and the balance that it shows #4 - Then ask the Bank staff for a Bank Transactions statement over the past period. The information on that statement will be same as on your Passbook but some Imm Offices do require such Bank Transactions statement, #5 - The evidence that the funds originated from abroad will not be applicable for you when the funds have been long seasoned already on your bank-account. And in case the period is only a couple of months that you transferred the funds from abroad to your personal Thai bank-account, the CODES on the Bank Transactions statement and/or in your Passbook will indicate that the funds originated from abroad. > Success! Note: At the Chonburi (Jomtien and SriRacha) Imm Offices, they want to see that your 800K has already been seasoned for at least 2 months, which in your case will not be any problem. -
Phuket Immigration Bureau cracks down on immigration violations, issuing yellow cards to Thai landlords and foreign nationals. Five Thai landlords and one foreigner received yellow cards, while 23 foreigners were arrested for offences against the state. Nine landlords were also arrested for failing to register foreign tenants.

Mail-in 90 Day Report
Red Phoenix replied to acepredator's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
To OP > You are posting your question on this on-line Forum, which means you have Internet access. That being the case, why don't you do your 90-day report on-line? It is a quick and easy process to do so, and can be done during the 14 days before till actual due date of that 90-day report. Imm sends you a confirmation when it is approved and you can also check the status on-line. And in case your report has not been approved and is still pending on the due date, you can then still do it in person during the 6-day grace period at your CM office. -
90.days report 6 days late
Red Phoenix replied to passiflora's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are almost in same situation as myself. I will be exiting Thailand with a Re-Entry Permit (to protect my Non Imm O retirement-based Permit to stay) on June 16 and will return on July 27. My 90-day report is due on June 12. So on June 2 I did my 90-day report on-line. It was almost 2 years ago that I last used that option, but it was surprisingly easy and on June 6 I received a confirmation e-mail that my 90-day report was approved. Now to answer your question > Even if I would not have received that confirmation, I would not have bothered to do it in person as I live on a +1 hour drive from my Imm Office. There is indeed a small risk that not doing it might lead to me having to pay a 2.000,- THB fine on my next visit to the Imm Office a couple of months after my return (which would be for my 1-year extension of stay). But as I will be exiting Thailand during the 'grace period' combined with the very small chance of an attentive Imm Officer noticing that I had left Thailand a couple of days after the due date of that 90-day report, I would have paid the fine with a smile. Besides the possible fine there are no other consequences of not doing it, so in my case that would have been the most convenient and preferred option. NOTE: But I would suggest that you try doing the 90-day report on-line (which can be done from 14 days before till actual due date). As mentioned higher a quick and simple process. -
Travel insurance company recommendations.
Red Phoenix replied to JohnOFphon's topic in Insurance in Thailand
For your Thai lady subscribing to travel-insurance using the Thai branche of MSIG would be an option. https://www.msig-thai.com/en/personal-insurance/travel-easy-worldwide I booked this afternoon for my thai lady (53 years old) the Easy travel-insurance policy for our 6 week trip to Europe. Costs only 1.200,- THB with more than decent coverage. = = = I used to buy travel-insurance for my trips, but I now opened an N26 bank-account (a German based Internet bank) which provides for 10,- Euro/month an incredibly generous travel-insurance policy, and you do not even have to book your travel or flights using the account. Unfortunately it is only available for EU citizens, but Revolut offers a comparable (but less generous) package so that might be an option. Note that booking your trip with a Golden (or higher) creditcard also often has travel-insurance included. -
Help with completing the TM.30 online
Red Phoenix replied to CM Dub's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Hi CM Dub, I have PM-ed you a comprehensive guideline document on how to register on the IO TM-30 website in order to issue a TM-30 of any foreigner (including yourself) staying at the premises. Most if not all of your questions are addressed in that document. Cheers and success -
If that were the case 'same investment in time and effort' there would be no reason to address the issue. But in the Chiang-Rai case the guy lives close to the Mae Sai border-crossing, so a completely legal border-bounce there would take him less than half a day. But having to apply at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane (+800 km from where he lives) is hardly the same time and effort...

For info > I was that friend, and I followed the exact same process as my friend. I.e. I did fly to my home-country for a holiday without a Re-Entry Permit in order to 'kill' my Non Imm O-A based Permit to stay (due to the for me not needed and recently price-hiked fee for the mandatory Non Imm O-A Health Insurance). I returned Visa Exempt and applied 1.5 week after my return for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement) at my SiSaKet office. A smooth, easy and friendly process. Obviously there was the 'under consideration period' for my 90-day Non Imm O Visa application, and I had to return to the SiSaKet Imm Office on the designated date 2 weeks after my application to get the actual Div HQ approved Permit to stay in my Passport. The DIFFERENCE with the process that my friend went through (different Imm Office) was twofold: #1 - Even though he applied for reason of RETIREMENT he got a visit from Immigration at his house and pictures were taken outside and inside the house; #2 - Contrary to my 'come back in 2 weeks' under consideration period, he got an 'Under Consideration' stamp in his Passport for the entire 90-days period of his O-Visa!

WOW, you are utterly confused! You wrote: IMO, people should not complain about the misfortunes resulting from their laziness. What laziness??? The guy from Chiang-Rai enquired at the Chiang-Rai Imm office what requirements that office imposes when applying for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement). And they told him that even if he applied after having done a border-bounce which would provide him with a VisaExempt entry (a pre-requisite for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa application) that they would NOT handle his application. And that he should apply at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos (which is 800 km from Chiang-Rai!). The 'lazy one' here is that Imm Officer that rather than processing a fully legitimate Non Imm O Visa application, is sending the guy abroad to do his application there. The 'change of Visa' process (applying for a Non Imm O Visa from a VisaExempt or Tourist Visa) is even addressed on the Chiang-Rai Imm Office website! And that website even boasts about the High Standards of their Office and their dedication to Customer Satisfaction. It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.
-
The Imm Officer at Roi-Et Imm Office refused to handle his application and told him to apply in Laos. Having to leave the country for a lazy Imm Officer or a rogue Imm Office is a bit of a problem wouldn't you agree? And the pictures of house with wife/girlfriend which that officer mentioned were also asked at SriRacha for such a Non Imm O Visa (retirement) application, but the applicant there was lucky because his application was accepted on providing the pictures.
-
That process - applying for a Non Imm O Visa after having entered Thailand VisaExempt or on a Tourist Visa - is referred to in the Thai Immigration regulations as the 'change of Visa' process. I agree that this is somewhat confusing terminology used by Immigration, but they are sort-of correct as it is the ONLY case in which you can apply for a VISA at a local Immigration Office. The local Imm Offices further only provide EXTENSIONS of your Permit to stay (which they often incorrectly refer to as Visa to make the confusion complete - lol).
-
All 3 of them were applying at their local Imm Office for a 90-day Non Imm O Visa for reason of retirement. The official 'change of Visa' process allows you to do this when having entered VisaExempt or on a 60-day Tourist Visa. Thousands of people have done this (including myself) without any problems.
-
That was for a 90-day Non Imm O Visa for reason of RETIREMENT. A friend of mine after having 'killed' his Non Imm O-A Visa based Permit to stay by doing a border-run and returning VisaExempt < just like the 2 members quoted higher > did apply last week for his 90-day Non Imm O Visa (retirement) at the SriRacha (Chonburi) Imm Office and was successful in doing so. But interestingly, the SriRacha Imm Officer also wanted pictures of him at the house of his girlfriend where he is staying, and pictures of him in the living room and bed-room. And on top of that the SriRacha kept his Passport, which he would only be able to get hold of again after the Divisional approval of his application. So he will be 2-4 weeks without his Passport! Is this even legal for Imm Offices to keep your Passport?
