Nationwide Banking App
Foxx replied to LittleBear57's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
This would be, in my opinion, utterly folly. It's perfectly possible that the "somewhere other" version is designed to steal your money once you provide your login credentials. Stick with the official download site and version. -
In other pub-related news, developers who illegally pulled down an historic pub have been ordered to rebuild it completely using materials from the rubble. It'll reportedly cost them £1.5 million to do so. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/mar/10/developers-who-destroyed-historic-lancashire-pub-punch-bowl-inn-hurst-green-ordered-to-rebuild-it

I registered myself using the website. I chose the option "possessor" to describe myself. This was scrutinised when last I visited Chaeng Wattana, but was ultimately deemed by the boss to be OK.

I don't know why mobile AIS works. It's not just a 3BB problem. I get the same issues using AIS, both with Chrome and with Brave, and the console log clearly shows 403s which mean "Forbidden".
-
The problem here is that a lot of the page resource requests are returning HTTP/403 - Forbidden. This is almost certainly a result of geoblocking - they've decided that because you're in Thailand they won't load for you. The only way I know of getting around this is to use a proxy that will make you appear to be in the UK.

That's not been my experience. They have been unpleasantly hard and starchy. Birds Eye here have never disappointed me - both those imported from New Zealand and those imported from Australia.

Indian, Chinese Investors Buying Pubs, Restaurants In Pattaya
Foxx replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Nope. The vast majority of owners and workers at Indian restaurants in the UK are Bangladeshi, mostly from Sylhet province. -
This is not strictly true. One can defer taking the pension and receive an enhanced rate. If one doesn't claim one's pension on reaching pension age it is automatically deferred and when it's eventually claimed it will be at a higher rate.
-
It will be frozen at this year's rate. If you go back to the UK for a while it will be increased whilst you're there, but will revert to the previous rate if you return to Thailand.

Where can you get bivalent covid vaccine?
Foxx replied to topswijaya's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
The government will start to roll out Pfizer's BA.1 bivalent vaccine next month. It's received a gift of 501,120 doses from South Korea. A second batch of one million doses is due to arrive from France next month. It's not clear yet how they will be available. -
Cabinet approves tourist fee of 150-300 baht for all foreign tourists
Foxx replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Nope. Retired people don't have work permits, but pay plenty of tax tax - income tax on investment income, 7% VAT on purchases, ludicrous taxes on every bottle of wine bought. -
It would appear that it's been more than six months since the British Consular Team has been able to find the time to answer any questions on this forum - and they are the only people who can give a definitive answer to my original question. I'm disappointed, but hardly surprised. They must all be very busy doing something or other. This page should provide the answer, but it makes no sense. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/what-to-do-after-a-british-person-dies-in-thailand#get-a-consular-letter I guess I just wasted my time even asking.

Certificate of Residence at CW
Foxx replied to tjintx's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I received one 3-4 days ago. Business as usual. -
My situation: have no close living relatives, have lived with my partner of many years. In the event that I die, I understand that the Embassy will contact a relative in the UK before my body can be released for disposal. Given that I don't even know the names of any of my distant relatives, let alone how to contact them, can I nominate my Thai partner to be contacted instead? If so, how? I really don't like the idea of my body lying unclaimed in a hospital for weeks or months.
