Thailand To Hold Talks with China on Submarine to Frigate Swap
Brickleberry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
And what happens when there is a problem with finding engines or whatever for the frigate? I thought that when a company breaks the contract, you are entitled to a full refund, no? Seems like the country needs as much money as it can get its hands on as Pheu Thai is intent on ruining the economy with its 10,000 baht handout. -
How much money are we talking about, and why would it need to be seasoned? Personally I think this a load of bull perpetuated by visa agents looking to make some money. A friend of mine told me that the most well known visa agent with offices in BKK is charging 40,000 for non-o based on marriage, crazy pricing! Married individuals can stay here perfectly legally, so why is it so costly? The volunteer option isn't much more expensive, and that one is completely illegitimate, giving holders of this visa type a lot of issues when they try to re-enter Thailand. A multiple entry visa only gives you 90 days in the country, then you must leave. You could re-enter of course, but the point is that you have left the country. The financial requirements should be a lot less stringent. EDIT: I just noticed that it has been mentioned foreign bank account details are fine, the requirement to use a Thai bank is not applicable in these cases? If this is the case then no problem, I can easily show transfers from my US account to my Thai account. Bizarre that IO in TH will not accept them in conjunction with my TH bank statements. Very easy to prove where the money came from this way.

Someone is living in dreamland! The average salary for someone in the US is $54,000. 400,000 baht = just over $11,000. I'm not from the US, but I work for a US company remotely. Those who are perhaps not as far along in their life (a polite way to say young) tend to have mortgages and student loans to pay off, on top of supporting family. It would take a person earning 55k USD a year three months to save up 11k, and that isn't including their living expenses or taxes. However, a person earning 55k USD and sending that salary to Thailand each month is contributing 150k THB a month. A damn sight more than the long stay non-b visas, where you only need to earn 50,000 THB (less if you are teaching). Think before you type Mr Keyboard Warrior.

Using the income method (If you send transfers using Wise) is only possible with two banks; Bangkok Bank & Kbank. This is because Wise uses accounts with these banks to send money to your account. You can easily request a form that states where the payment originated from (USA). If you don't have an account from those banks, then when you request the form from your local bank, it will say 'local transfer.' This means you cannot possibly get an extension. If I had known about this issue previously, I would have used a different service to send my funds. Proving the funds came from America would be easy enough, I could even log in to one of their PCs in immigration and print out a 12 month statement from my Wise account, clearly showing the transactions. Unfortunately, they only look at Thai bank accounts, so this limits your ability to do anything. My only option now is to get a ME non-o (hopefully) and somehow open a Thai bank account (not sure how as I don't have a WP) with one of those two. It'll be an annoying year bouncing over the border every three months, but hopefully I will be able to apply for a 12 month extension next year. Fingers crossed SAV is still doing ME non-o.

Open a Thai bank account on tourist visa
Brickleberry replied to qwab32's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Wow, other people have been posting that they were recently denied a multiple entry non-o in SAV... How recently did you attain one, and did they ask for financials? -
It was so annoying when I turned up at immigration to be told, sorry we can't accept your bank statement. They said it would be best to park 400k in a bank account for 2 months, but I don;t have that kind of money lying around. I'm not rich, but I'm not poor.... stuck in the middle! I've heard it's about 40k to use an agent, but I don't think that is reasonable at all for a perfectly legitimate visa that I qualify for. I'm really worried that I won't be able to get a multiple entry visa in SAV after reading this thread now....

I would agree with this. I don't see how anyone can live on 40k a month. Trouble is, you need a bank account. You can only get a bank account with a work permit. If you have a bank account, then you need to show that the money has come from abroad when using the monthly method - impossible if you use Wise to send the transfers, and a bank that is not Kbank or Bangkok Bank. I meet all of the requirements, but cannot get a yearly extension despite showing a 12 month bank statement with over a million and a half going through the account.

Experts say Thailand’s foreign policy needs to be reviewed

Srettha is a man without conviction, no spine and a PM without a mandate. As useful as a chocolate teapot. -
I fully agree with the Prime Minister that gay marriage should be legalized immediately. It has been too long. I disagree that Transgender people should be able to legally change their gender on official documents to Male / Female, as this encourages the lie that they really are a new gender. If a 'trans' suffix or prefix was added, this would be acceptable and reasonable.

Ouch... so much work. Who thought this was a good idea, getting them to change outfits multiple times a day? I couldn't care less what the stewards or stewardesses wear, I'm much more concerned that my flight is on time, and it lands safely.

Not very practical is it? If there's a problem on that plane, these ladies will not be able to run down the aisles.

Government may not find funding for digital wallet – Move Forward
Brickleberry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Of course they knew. They didn't want to win the election to benefit Thai people, they wanted to win to bring Thaksin home. This is why despite being a convicted prisoner, he's currently in his own suite in a hospital, rather than sitting inside a prison. -

The strikes themselves, on legitimate targets, are NOT war crimes. Let me be clear. The forced removal of over 1 million citizens in a strip of land barely 25 miles long IS a war crime. Not only is it a war crime, but it has placed 2 million people in an area of land with no food, water, power or help. This IS a war crime.
-
Please read the story. They were 8 miles inside the safe zone.
-
Everyone seems to forget that this is a war crime. It has been labelled as such by several countries and the UN.
-
I did provide a specific example. Did you not read it?

To Hamas, it looks like Israel does not want to share, so why would they reciprocate? It was Palestinians who were forcefully evicted out of their legally owned properties to form an Israeli state - so is it at all surprising how they feel? Israelis have been doing the same in the West Bank and elsewhere in Gaza, yet despite multiple countries in Europe calling this out as a crime, and labeling the settlements illegal, Israel steams on ahead with forced evictions in courts, groups of Israelis going house to house and beating / killing Arabs out of settlement areas... both sides are guilty. There are two sides to every story, and if you only listen to one side you will fall into the blame spiral. I do not deny the attack on Israel was horrible, disgusting, atrocious, etc. But so has been the Israeli treatment of Arabs. I do not deny that extremist elements in Hamas want the total eradication of Israel, but using this as a pretense to never give them a state of their own only exacerbates the issue. Did you know that when Hamas was formed, it was originally to fight extremist elements in the PIJ? It was a peaceful and charitable organization. Now they are terrorists. Is it inevitable that Netanyahu's right wing party will become terrorists the longer this drags out? How much longer will we play this blame game? When will these two sides be forced to sort it out?
