I hope you didn't want to insinuate that the scouser was pedantic, as always, but in the near future Thai banks will have no other choice than to close their online banking, for the simple reason that BOT has changed some rules that will make it difficult for online banking to comply with. How many people have a PC that is capable of facial recognition? https://www.thaipbsworld.com/thai-central-bank-issues-new-measures-to-deal-with-online-banking-scams/ Banks are required to strengthen their identity verification through the use of biometrics, such facial recognition, when a customer wants to make online transfer of more than 50,000 baht or to increase the daily transfer limit to above 50,000 baht.

I guess they are aware that I'm registered on the Embassy here. You would be surprised what they can find out. In my early days in Thailand I had an insurance claim denied, because they knew I spent more than 180 days a year in Thailand. That is about 30 years ago. At that time I was still registered at my own property in my country, and they have never seen my passport.

I can download an official fastboot rom from the links you provided yesterday. The miuirom.org site is not official, though it sounds credible, and they advise against using the tool available on the Xiaomi site, but suggest using their tool. What are your thoughts?

I'm not a Brit, but my EU bank closed my accounts 2 years ago because I live in Thailand, although my postal address was with my sister. I never used the account to send money to Thailand. Several other banks did the same. My Embassy emailed everyone to fill in a form that they objected to it, but that was the last we ever heard about

The technician in the service centre said rolling back the firmware is only possible if replace PCB. Been searching for it, and according to miuirom.org it is possible using fastboot rom. Is this an official site that can be trusted? https://miuirom.org/updates/downgrade-miui-xiaomi https://miuirom.org/updates/mi-flash-pro Edit: It seems Xiaomi also says it's possible. https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/how-to-downgrade-from-miui-13-0-7-rom-to-miui-12-5-rom.65916/

They should charge for it, seeing that some people are willing to pay top dollar for coffee beans that have been through an animals arse -
As it is clear from your post history that you can't afford quality of anything, i'm not gonna waste time on educating you. Have a nice day

I wear dress shoes, as unlike most in this thread can afford and wear quality footwear :-), but have the same issue when occasionally wearing slippers. Only when wearing gyms I don't have the issue, and I think I posted that earlier in this thread already

You see the title, and the short answer is, nothing - zilch - nada. In fact, they even protect them. I have never bought anything on market place, simply because I don't trust it, and that was confirmed with my recent experience. Been looking for a replacement monitor for a spare PC for a while already, and decided to check Facebook MP. Found one that looked interesting and contacted the seller to ask where I could see the item. Was told in the messenger chat, location was Tukcom Sriracha 2nd floor, Lek Mobile shop. Even was sent a Google Maps link So the next day I went there but couldn't locate the shop, so asked a few shops on the same floor for it, and as soon as I mentioned the name Lek Mobile, the answer was that there was no such shop in that building. I tried to find out if it was just that they didn't like the shop in question, but they started to use google translate, to explain that it was a scammer. Other shops called it criminal. They had people come ask for that shop every day, because she has a lot of listings, and offers to send it for a small fee So I sent the criminal a message that she was a f***in scammer, and she even confirmed it and told me "Deceive on your father, you stupid foreigner" She then blocked me, of course I still have access to the listing through other accounts, but am not allowed to post links here. If anyone is interested in the link, feel free to send me a PM. Next I reported the scammer to FB, but obviously they don't take any reports serious, since they only allow you to tick "scam", but don't give you an option to add any info. So today I received the answer from Fecesbook, that the listing didn't go against their policies. I clicked the option "don't agree with the decision" in the hope I could then add some info, but that was another futile exercise because there is no such option. So my intention now is to contact the scammer with a Thai account and ask for the bank account where I can make a payment. My understanding is that every bank account is linked to an identity, so that way the scammer is traceable. Only not sure which department would take such report serious and go after it. Your suggestions are welcome. On the same day I detected another scammer, marketplace is obviously loaded with them, who offered me to pick up a monitor on the Foodland parking. Yeah right. That scammer also can be forwarded on request.

Your letter had tracking, I only explained the different tracking options depending on which service you use. Maybe next time you can explain yourself better to Thaipost, since they aren't mind readers
-
It all depends on which shipping method you used. Thai post have several EMS you can follow all the way, not so with registered or e-packet, which will only show when delivered. I have sent e-package to Oz several times in the past 2 years, and never took more than 10 days to get delivered

Can you also put me on ignore please, as that would be a huge advantage, to which many members on this forum will eagerly agree
-
Thanks for that, if that means you will not reply to my posts any more.

Does it really need explaining to you that he would never own a Xiaomi phone, because as a technician in the service centre, he has first-hand info of all the issues they experience?
-
How they would know? Well they can do same as some of the western countries do. I know of an acquittance living here since he retired from work, and receiving his pension. Last year he received a huge tax bill from his government, unless he could prove that he didn't have any income in Thailand. The guy in question is in his seventies, is married, and has never worked in Thailand. So they simply put the burden of proof on the taxpayer.
-
No I did not, as i'm not interested in losing all my data, only to find out if that would fix it
-
You made this all up by yourself, right? First of all security and firmware updates are two completely different things, and they are intended to fix bugs. Of course firmware updates include security updates. I didn't have any issues with my phone, until Xiaomi decided to fix it. Secondly my phone has been updated to the very last version, and is what they see. Please stop playing the apologist for all and everything in every thread, as it get tiresome.

I understand you like Xiaomi, and in fact I also liked the phone, since this is my second Xiaomi, until now. The previous one was an A2 Lite, and I never updated it. Bought the Poco only because I needed NFC to open an overseas bank account. I use my phone for basic functions, check messages, chats and make phone calls, so have just a few 3rd party apps installed, and for everything else I have a PC. The reason I get so many hits is that there are so many issues, no excuse for that. And the technician telling me he will never own a Xiaomi, speaks volumes I know it is EOL since this month, but I want Xiaomi to take up their responsibility, and I think I have a strong case with the document the SC wrote, where they admit that my issues are caused by the update. Still wondering why the updates showed a file size of +2 GB, if they according to your link are not available OTA.
-
It is because I've never been a proponent of firmware updates, because I see so many posts on forums that a firmware update messed up their device, and that is not only Xiaomi. I also have auto updates and push notifications disabled by default, so I will only be reminded of I go look for it in the settings. This time it caught my eye, and thought why not, not being aware that it were 2 updates, because the system doesn't say that. Now when I Google issues MIUI firmware update, I get more than 2 million results in less than a second, so I doubt I'm the only one. And if I change it to issues poco x3 firmware update, it are 4 million results. Glad to hear your is working fine, but the third party app excuse will not float with me, and hopefully also not with a customer protection department that want to do their job Edit to add: The Pattaya service centre told me that I'm not the first one, that is also why they knew how to fix it, but they don't have the authority to give the PCB for free. The technician also showed me his phone, and told me he would never have a Xiaomi.
-
To be honest, I'm not very eager to play around, and maybe cause more issues. I want Xiaomi to take up their responsibility. When for example a car dealer put the wrong oil in a car, which makes it break down, then he is responsible for the repairs regardless of warranty status. So what is the difference here?
