  1. How exactly? Without a USA social security number how would they know anything? My accounts are listed to my home address in the USA, not to Thailand.
  2. My wife does the taxes, and includes me on hers, I have never signed anything. So no perjury, at least not on my behalf. With her income at about B1.5 million, anything from my side (worldwide income) would put us in a bad place. Not rich by any means, but for those of us in the B1-5 million range, things look ugly.
  3. Exactly, offer us no TM30's, no TM6's, no 90 days, no yearly extensions, no reentry permits, and give us permanent residency after 3 years of taxes.....then maybe we can accept taxes.
  4. Exactly, the rich don't have to live anywhere, they are highly mobile. Scare them off, and they can quickly move somewhere else. Us small fish? Nope....we are stuck with the aftermath.
  5. It's those of us with wives and children in school who will feel the most pain, especially those of us with what would be mostly tax free income in our home countries.....that income will now be subject to Thai taxes, as the bar for taxes is set much lower in Thailand than at home.
  6. If the Director General of the Revenue Department is making the statement, then it should be taken seriously, anyone making future plans and ignoring this would be nuts.
  7. As long as everyone pays 13%, not a tiered system where some pay nothing, then I am OK with that.
  8. Most Thai's don't pay taxes, they should look in the mirror first.
  9. Don't give them any more ideas!
  10. I'm guessing "platform" means financial institutions sending money into Thailand, like Wise/Banks/Etc, so they can track money from individuals.
  11. TheThaiger has now confirmed the same thing BangkokPost did, taxing worldwide income (not just remittance) is the objective of the Director General of the Revenue Department. Time to seriously think about the future, and I am sure this news will blowup even more as the day goes on.
  12. It's only a proposal at this point, but I would assume an "amendment", if it took place, would have to wait until the beginning of a new tax year (and only after a royal decree). For now they are just seeking it, lets hope there are enough Elite-Hiso's in government to squash this thought.
  13. Just posted on Bankpost, the government is seeking to go after all worldwide income, not just remitted income. I knew it!
  14. The only hope he has of getting the PM position is an all-out civil war, there is no chance in Hell he will ever get their with the current cast of evil characters in charge.
  15. I am sure they will, right after they dissolve and outlaw the MFP.
  16. They do in all countries, the difference here is that superrich have no checks and balances on their behavior......thus, one of the most lopsided economies in the world.
  17. Based on what I see of their subpar building practices, and their lack of safety, I would never let them run a lemonade stand let alone a Nuclear reactor.
  18. Thai's operating a Nuclear reactor?! What could go wrong? 🤪
  19. I would guess the first year of these changes will be a mess, by the second year things will get hammered out, so by the summer of 2026 we should finally have a really good picture of things. Until then, if you brought money in before Jan 1st 2024 and can make it to 2026 without any more needed remittance, then feel lucky. I wish I remitted about B1-2 million more, but for now I'll just go cheap Charlie for a while. At least the money left in the US can grow while waiting.
  20. How about we tier the VAT, 0% on anything under B1500 (to help the poor), keep it at 7% on everything up to say B1.5 million (help the middle-class), then 25% on everything over B1.5 million, that should hit the superrich where it hurts.
  21. Remember, in the new technology age, Immigration still insists on 100's of copies of paper, and an army of workers to sort through it all. It's Thai way of employing useless drones, just create "useless paper works" at the expense of Foreigners.
  22. Last I checked there isn't all that much support for Pheu Thai, let alone Thaksin.
