  1. Not sure I understand you correctly, but I use a Skype number ($39.50 yearly) and a call plan for the USA/CAN (unlimited - $30.50 yearly). I then just use a data travel plan while I am over there, my last trip I used a 10GB e-SIM from Airalo for I think $26, I think a 20GB is like $40. It's also easy to top up using their app if you need to add more GB's.
  2. You are a publicly accessible ATM, you receive nothing in compensation for paying tax here. Your money is all they care about, if they could get you to land at the airport, hand over all your money, then make you leave on the next flight.....they would.
  3. Got rid of my Big Bike, mainly because of the idiot motorcyclist I had to share the roads with, not the cars. About 30% don't have a license, almost none of them have any formal training or knowledge of their own road laws/rules, and 90% have no business being on a motorcycle to begin with, and they seem to be completely suicidal.
  4. Yup, Thailand is hanging out a "Don't invest here" sign for the world to see, not sure what the heck they are thinking is going to happen.
  5. I picture two bikes weaving in and out of traffic at highspeed and colliding in front an unsuspecting lorry driver.
  6. I don't worry about it, mother nature ultimately controls our fate, humans arrogantly believe they control it. Like the plague, COVID19, etc......she can eliminate any threats to her plans.
  7. The ship is sinking, I'm awaiting the next post where the rats jump ship.
  8. Let me guess, you believe the universe revolves around California?
  9. Witnesses stated they (large motorcycle group) were spread across 3 lanes of traffic riding at highspeed, and overtaking other vehicles from the left and the right before the two bikes hit each other and fell over. They were then run over by a lorry. Play stupid games on a motorcycle, don't be surprised by the outcome.....just a dumb move, especially in Thailand.
  10. Found it, the article is on Bangkok Post, its still has the witness's statement in it, which makes more sense than the explanation in the TheThaiger article.
  11. Yeah, I read the same thing, can't find it now.....the original article had a witness stating the bikes were speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before colliding with each other just before being run over.
  12. So, if someone jumps off a cliff, everyone should?
  13. Speaking of which, does anyyone know what MFP's stance is on these new tax changes? For that matter, are these changes even acceptable to Pheu Thai's reluctant partners (the army, Royalist Elites)?
  14. Tax incentives for Thai's, tax increases for dirty farangs.....gotcha.
  15. I am happy with my MG ZS, at 730,000 baht I'm also not losing any sleep over my purchase. It would be twice that for a Mazda CX-5.
  16. But the damage has already been done, and living under constant threats isn't conducive to a healthy future here. They seem to be painting a target on expats, and some us don't like the pressure, we are getting the hint.....we are unwelcomed.
  17. They are basing their fears on a real threat made by the Director General of the Revenue Department. Ignoring that would be insane.
  18. The damage has already been done, anyone with any common sense is going take this as a serious threat.
  19. Or the army's bootlickers, Pheu Thai.
  20. The one hilarious part of that, is where they want the public to be aware they need to be taxed more for their receiving better welfare and amenities?! Like out of control pollution and unsafe roads/sidewalks/zebra crossings.....substandard building practices, substandard electrical practices, corrupt governments, etc etc etc?.......improve the welfare, safety, and amenities first, and clean corruption out of government (at least to some form of reasonable level), then come and talk to us about more taxes.
  21. Which is why I am waiting on the sidelines, I have over $30,000 sitting in a Wise account waiting to be sent over as baht, will grow it to about $100,000 soon, but at least its earning 4.85%, so I'll let it sit for now.....also waiting on my Wise debit card to arrive, thought that might be a way to buy things without worrying about remittance, but that sounds like it won't work the way I planned, so I'm kind of stuck on the sidelines waiting for answers.
  22. I wouldn't even want to get to that point, which is why we need clear guidance before sending money. If it's in black and white, and they state what is acceptable evidence of savings beforehand, then so be it, but ambiguity? No way I am stepping into that hornets nest, especially here.
  23. I think some people are under the assumption that the Thai RD are required prove you've done your due diligence, things don't work that way in real life, its up to us to prove what we say, not them to prove us wrong.
