  1. Turbulence, and it won't make the plane fall apart, far from it......unbuckled passengers is the real issue.
  2. Yup, mines on 25-26c all day every day.....though I am the type of person who would wear a t-shirt in Alaska, so.
  3. Unsafe sidewalks? Unsafe crosswalks? Unsafe roads? Pesticide enriched vegetables? Dengue fever? Roaming Soi Dogs?
  4. I have no urge to eat a fruit that smells like rotting trash, so I guess I am safe to drink like a fish
  5. I've always said, I don't want my family to spend a dime on my death......just collect the money and throw my corpse in the street.
  6. Which is why I ordered one, plus the account balance in a FDIC insured and 4.87% interest bearing sweep bank program is a bonus.
  7. At this rate, I am just glad they aren't taxing us on World-Wide income, just remittance. God forbid if that changes!
  8. But wouldn't the growth of what is in the IRA after 2024 be taxable when withdrawn and then remitted to Thailand? I would assume Thailand would look it as either interest income (which is how cash is handled in my IRA) , or capital gains?
  9. If Thai's are at the helm it will probably end up in the same place as that ill-fated frigate.
  10. As you know, I went with the wait and see approach. I still wish I could move money here this year, but I'm too scared to do it. If it works the way they are saying, then I should be golden, except when I runout of lump sum savings (many years from now) and try to send money from my IRA's, at least US Social Security is safe from the RD.
  11. It's all these interpretations that are confusing, what exactly the law states would be my big worry. I mean is the RD going to publish some type of amendment based on these Q&A's, or are we hoping the person who answered these questions is allowed to make these interpretations?
  12. From 21:30 to 22:30 is based on remittance from a lump sum savings from years of savings from salary, listen to it again.
  13. Specifically the savings, which is explained in an example from 17:26 to 21:50......it appears remitted money from savings, WOULD be subject to taxes, no matter when it was earned.
  14. Yes, that's where the funds will be coming from anyway.
  15. If she chose to be, or not, she is now a Martyr. Hopefully something good arises from her sacrifice, the LM laws need to be abolished.
  16. I am trying to find a way to handle part of the problem, just ordered a Wise debit card, might make use of that, as I highly doubt they will be tracking debit card purchases using a non Thai bank for payment. Hopefully I can make purchases using that, and avoid any scrutiny over sending actual cash to my SCB account, which would definitely be a very visible remittance.
  17. This is what scares me, unless the RD makes some changes.
  18. I assume you meant 80+ % of Thais couldn't afford to spend time in Europe on the wages they earn
  19. They are few and far between, this a country of poor people.
  20. You would think there is no way the EU would be that naive, especially after recent issues with Thai's overstaying in South Korea and Japan, but who knows.
  21. I just hate having to pay custom fees and VAT on imports from home after already paying higher shipping costs, just because nobody in Thailand can provide quality products for sale. I find about 50 percent of quality items I am looking for are not available here, fixing that issue would be a better direction.
  22. "Nero fiddled while Rome burned"
  23. I'm still not buying the it's ok to remit the prior to 2024 savings amount, until I have concrete proof of others doing so, there is no way I am going to be the first to test that theory. I also don't want to be part of those willing to test the less than 1 percent audit theory either.
  24. Well not exactly, most of us have lived off the income stored for over one year before being remitted approach, which is now in jeapordy. The other issue is how they will now handle savings that we have that were there before January 1st 2024. I hope all of the guinea pigs remitting money this year give us a rundown of how their tax situation plays out when doing there taxes next year.
  25. Got stuck at DM yesterday after our JAL flight from Tokyo was diverted, due to bad weather at Swampy, we spent almost 7 hours on the runway before finally flying to Swampy from DM. A 6.5 hour flight turned into about 15, at least we had air conditioning.
