Doesn't say anything IMHO.

Not correct, it has always been "reportable" if remitted to Thailand during the year of earning. Now the question is whether RD will go back 10 years on all these unreported incomes.

You've missed the point entirely. The idea here is that when remitting only 1.5 Million a year and use untaxed savings accumulated in previous years to sustain spending in LOS at 3 Million I will save half a million in income tax a year. And we can repeat this cycle by taking sabbaticals every 5 of 5 years. But as some have mentioned, by that time RD might have worked out how to tax foreign income, instead of remittances. In which case I'll cough up the money every year. But my wife and kids will probably get the money untaxed. Now, the 6% or 8% yield on savings is just urban legend where my money is. Dunno about US, Oz or UK. Always worry when I hear that sort of figures, as they are totally disconnected from economic reality,. Don't want to be a doomsayer though. Just one more thing, I am just a normal worker, but not totally naive either; for the last 33 years I managed to earn about a quarter of a million a year while active, less since I've retired, all totally tax exempt, without breaking any law.

That's exactly my thinking. I have LTR but I have started moving my savings around so that I don't get caught with my pants down if they changed the rules that protect us now. Only, I am not targeting zero tax, I'll be ok to stay just under 5% [instead of 25%] of my total income. Doing thatI'd have to spend 6 months out of Thailand in 2028. But LTR is still there.

Interestingly my friends accountant said that Government was considering doubling income tax rates for foreigners, 10% to 70% instead of 5% to 35%. They had a lengthy debate about the doubling the 0% in the first bracket but put that into he too difficult basket for the time being. Anutin also suggested they could triple the rates but the consensus was that they have to go step by step.

This is reflects something I am still unclear about. Does royal decree 743 exempt any foreign income [Pensions AFAIC] earned while residing in the Kingdom under LTRWP, or does the income need to be earned during year -1 when remitted during year 1, just as any foreign income up to 31/12/2023?
