How much monthly salary should you pay for rescuing a bar girl?
Seamaster replied to Goat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
That's just sad. I got married in my mil village (wife born BKK). I made photocopy b50 notes and gave them out bc I didn't want this hard earned money. Wife thought it a great idea. Mil not so much ???? She's your gem? -

It's only been last few years I've started to help my wife financially. I now cover all or most expenses that are not related directly to her like work lunch, mad money. There was a time when she'd pay for lots of things. We seek it on different terms perhaps. Like I said, I buy everything physically so makes no sense to give money only to ask for my money back. Ridiculous. When I and she are retired things will definitely be different I guess my question would be why does she need my money? I trust her totally but what if... What if she decides her father needs triple bypass at bumrungrad? A down payment on a condo that is the best deal ever!! -

How? If the money's not good enough for starts. Is she going for 15k and you pick up all expenses? Maybe, depends on beauty and age. -

If I had this sort of money I would have hooked up with Japanese, Chinese or Ukrainian. Especially, up country woman. Just for giggles cut her off and see how fast the locks change on domiciles and the BMW disappears. Ah, true love. -

Married half that time. Together 14 yrs. I do all the local shopping for condo, food. We don't eat together MF due to our schedules. If I gave her all the money I'd be asking for it back anyway bc I do the shopping. My / our finances are and will remain separate. She has no reason to have her hands in all my finances Probably when I start my pension I will just give it to her. I trust her implicitly. She's held 1M baht for me for months and returned it. -

My wife has a casual corporate job, not a bg. I asked her what she'd need as pocket money when she's forced stop work at 55-60 (or earlier if I want to leave BKK). She said 10k pocket money (BKK) Of course, I'm covering all our total spending (ALL). Note...her future and retirement are built into the marriage (and her current saving). Imagine bg would need more. Don't buy bs about her losing job / money going with you. She can be back in the bar the next week after you're done with her. If she's really hot - maybe 30-40k. If she's a looker half that. If she's middle aged, past prime 15k. She might tell you she can make X in the bar but that's rough work. Figure out what she pulls in monthly. Don't cheap her out. If she's not happy then she's gone. **She's a bar girl and might get lazy about cooking, cleaning, ironing. Make clear what extra is out if your pocket. Anything else is on her. Be prepared for buffalo and her own health issues $$$ to pop up -

Weird or out there things in Thailand

So, thaivisa has come to this .. Only a matter of time before it implodes. -
Thank you. The things I've accomplished are only between myself and the students and universities bc administrations don't care and the only reasons other teachers care is bc they didn't have to do "it" - not that they would have anyway! I feel so sorry for all students with farang teachers... While the Thai aren't any better at least they are their own come what may. These slackers came from other countries, took a job claiming they could impart skills and knowledge. It's just pure pain for most students, learn nothing People..You've no idea. Don't be such a pollyanna.

Semi retired 36, retired 42. Out of retirement and into teaching at 52 add more certainty to our old age, hope to save something for her when I'm gone. I'm done within two years and before 65. Teaching a mixed bag, some of it exceptionally rewarding. Most of it ruined by other "teachers" and administration wasting my time. It's been a good life overall but I've had some absolutely shi+ years and unfortunately those years were often a run of a few bad ones together. Last few years have not been kind. Amazing what seriously horrible people in the world. I've always felt I'd rather have my time over money. If nice things come great but I'm not sacrificing life for a shi++y condo or a low end 3 series Mercedes or BMW ????. Some people are absolutely insane with their pursuit of stupid brands or worse faux highso appearances. Thailand has great beaches, food, access to women. With a clean home and decent clothes - what more does a man need? Well, nothing. My philosophy has always been to maximize my own time. Die with b50 in my pocket (not owe a satang to anyone).

Google voice to text unbearably bad
Seamaster replied to THAIPHUKET's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I think it's excellent. While it does make mistakes from time to time especially if I am not enunciating correctly or is clearly as possible. Yet, I have no regrets especially as the price is free. This post was written using Google voice to text -

Yes and yes. It will continue to go up regardless if you repatriate. You're just not subject to penalities. Why go back? To what? To live exactly where? In your particular case ... with what funds? If you don't have answers now what makes you believe you'll have better answers or alternatives years from now and under duress? Better to accept and to plan your life here / or if need be elsewhere in SEA. I'm not going back. In fact, I'll let my US drs license lapse. Time to let it go. My guess is banking will become a real challenge so we all may need to make big decisions. An additional 175 a month. You could even squirrel it away towards medical or spend it on bimbos.
