LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Good points - all depends on the person's situation. Because I am an Aussie Citizen (Wife is too) we will be returning back there when we get very old (or badly sick) because of the basically free health system. For those unaware, it is like the Thai system whereby it is very cheap for the Thais - but unlike the Thai public hospital system, the Aust hospitals are a 1st class system - and medicines are highly subsidised too. It is true that something bad could happen that could cost a million or two - but we have car/bike accident insurance and general accident insurance. If anyone is aware of a Thai/Global medical insurance contract that will pay out 1-2 million for a reasonable fee, then feel free to let us all know. I have car insurance that covers us for up to 1 million baht each, and it costs under 20K. Medical insurance here has all sorts of exclusions and pre-existings and there are SFA consumer laws for Expats. I can get private hospital insurance in Australia for under $900 a year for both of us (about 20K Baht). We have house insurance here for up to 10 million baht and that costs less than 20K Baht. Health insurance here is a massive rip-off. I know hopuse and car insurance only covers 'big events' - but when I ask for that coverage only for medical - say a 500K excess and only for a serious hospital illness/accident - they so 'no hab'.

That is good thinking mate - something too many Expats do not do well - I have seen it happen a few times over the years. I recall one youtuber years ago talking about how some Mother nearby had sold her kid's house, paid for by an Expat, so she could pay some family debt (probably owed money lenders heaps). He was talking about it and did not seem to understand that the same thing could easily happen to him. His channel stopped posting a year or so later, and then the vids were deleted - never heard from channel again. He might have died or something, but probably he was dudded by the family. Maybe gone back home or scrounging around in a 20m2 flat somewhere. Could be claiming to be a millionaire on an LTD Visa.

There is proof - over and over again - and yet they refuse to see. The same people who could not see Biden was demented and senile. There is a website that proves what you said - Islam: The Politically Incorrect Truth. Islam: The Politically Incorrect Truth https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/

Those immigrating legally from the 'wrong countries/cultures' have a large number of people who refuse to assimilate - they come from a culture that is incompatible - and it is not their fault - they should not be approved to immigrate to UK or any Western society. The illegal immigrants have a high percentage of people who have absolutely no intention of ever assimilating or accepting UK/Western culture. Those are facts borne out through actual events - there is only one solution - and appeasement and patience is not it. The only answer is to not approve people from incompatible cultures - and deport all illegals. All legal immigrants after 5 years must undergo compulsory assessment as to their suitability to stay in UK/Western society. If they have been on welfare since arrival, and cannot speak the language at all, and have not made any contribution to the country that accepted their application to enter, then deport them back to where they came from. If they commit any crime - deport them back to their home country. Those that have done the right thing, reward them with Citizenship. In many regards the way Thailand treats immigrants (including us Expats) is exactly the way to do it - many call it racist and it is extreme and could be improved - but it is done for one reason only - the benefit of protecting Thailand and its people and their culture - and it works. Same Same for Japan, Korea, etc etc.

That says it all - right there. For the slow ones who dont get what it shows. 1. The media narrative is that anything right wing is bad/fascism and left wing/illegals are good. 2. The People have had enough and they know the truth - the media is biased and it lies. 3. Only idiots and fools would say this protest was violent - and yet ignore all the violence caused by the 'other side'.

If that many people attended a BLM/Gay Rights march the left wing media and politicians would be screaming that 'something must be done - the People protesting demand change'. But because the people marching want a change away from their favoured group of new left wing voters, they are labelled as far-right fascists - even though the vast majority of the people marching did nothing wrong. The reason the Palestinian/ANTIFA agitators attacked them violently, was because they know the media and politicians will lie and portray the events as 'far right fascist caused violence'. Which is exactly what they are doing.

Mate - you just punched a hole right into the middle of their delusions - well done. I recall a recent story about a similar 'fool with his money' in Phuket who was scammed out of the property and lost all his money. He ended up proving the sale was a fraud, but the court ruled a Thai person had bought the property in good faith (at about 20% of actual value) so the sale was not voided and he lost the property. Many stories across Thailand of similar events through corrupt officials and bad family members/wives. Genuine retired millionaires do not live in Thailand on an LTR.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
It would be a sad life if you were a deluded fool who think because they have an LTR Visa that they are considered 'wealthy'. But I did say IF - so perhaps that does not apply to you?? If my Avatar triggers you - that says a lot too. IF.

I did not bother reading any more of your post - other than that above. YES I do meet the requirements - easily. YES I can afford ripoff health insurance. NO I will not pay so much for so little insurance NO I will not put $100K USD into a savings account in Australia (bad earnings and also tax issues for me). NO I will not provide BOI my financial information. NO I will not continue with the application. I have made my decision - you have made yours. I will say it again - lets agree to disagree.

ROFLOL - Millions of Dollars in investments in their home country and living full-time in Pattaya - get real mate. They may own a apartment there and visit - but come on - Pattaya is home to Expat millionaires - come on. PS - I play golf as you may know - at many expensive courses - I have met a few genuinely 'wealthy' Expats and not one of them actually lives here full time. Yes there are some who have business here, but we are talking about long term retired/married Expats living here on the LTR. Or are you talking about those 'rich' Foreigners who have businesses in Thailand and stay/live here a lot - met a few Japanese ones myself - there are a lot around Si Racha. Obviously I am not talking about them - I am talking about older retired/married Expats who are considering the LTR - like me - and my decision like a lot of others has been 'no thanks'. Only 6000 takers in over 3 years - against a BOI forecast of 500K to 1 million within 5 years - something wrong me thinks with LTR. IMO it is the health insurance scam (unless you have a cheap global insurance plan from overseas like you) and the future income tax implications. But I could be wrong - but why have so many not taking it up?? They say that there are over 40,000 holders of Thai Visa Elite.

Thanks - will do on the google maps. The O-A is a Retirement Visa applied for from an overseas country. You cannot apply for an o Retirement Visa from overseas. You can only get an O Retirement Extension when in Thailand.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
True - same same. The reason I had a very expensive Mercedes or two (and Audis), was not because I had money, it was because I did not waste any money. They were leased and a great tax deduction - and they are SO GOOD to drive. Here in Thailand I drive a Honda CRV - I am not working so no tax deductions - and it is not wise in this country to advertise how much money you have as an Expat - quite the opposite in fact.
-
LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
IMO anyone with that sort of money does not live in Thailand as an Expat in Phuket or Isan or anywhere else. They live full-time for tax purposes in Singapore - or other tax havens like Monaco - and they visit Thailand where they have a property or two,. They have an Thai Elite Visa that gives them unlimited entries for 5, 10, 15 or 20 years. Millionaires did not get the LTR - they got the Elite Visa - they will not 'report' to the Immigration Police once a year - that is why it has been so unsuccessful. Only a 'wanna be' brags about qualifying for and getting an LTR Visa.

Good point - turning the other cheek does not work - time to stop and to start slap[ping them back down.

Backlash grows as workers fired over Charlie Kirk comments
That is what the left do, and how they enforce their doctrines on people. Straight out of the playbook first done by the German Government under Hitler in the 1930s - when they the National Socialists Party. They forced the people to comply through harsh penalties and enforcements, and they used propaganda and fear to make the people agree with and accept anything the Govt did (or shut up and say nothing). Their absolute power corrupted themselves absolutely, and it reached its zenith of evil when they started mass extermination of Jews in 1942/3.

Well said. There was a reason I blocked @cherchuer - thanks for reminding me. Some people have no human morals.

On a serious note - Trump has sued media companies and won - he has a few more cases going. IMO your tongue in cheek comment is actually on the right road. Make the defamation laws stronger for those in media and with a large public profile/followers. Ensure they do not defame anyone by calling them a nazi and fasscist and a risk to democrqacy - that has caused far more violence than any right wing BS. However, me you and the man on the bus should not be held to the same level of accountability - because no one listens to us. Far too many people, especially those on the left, have been using their platforms to denigrate and insult their political 'enemies' and to create hate and divide - it has gone too far. That nutter (Alex Jones) who made totally unacceptable comments was smashed in court with penalties, and Newsmax and others who claimed the manufacturer of the voting machines illegally modified them, were also forced to pay millions in penalties. It is time the right did the same and stop turning the other cheek - smash them back and tone it all down on both sides through the force of legal punishments.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Good point - thanks - I will take the google map printout with me next month. Frankly I see absolutely no advantage in a marriage extension over retirement - the only thing is 400K instead of 800K. But I have a separate bank account with over that amount in it as my 'health insurance fund' - plus other bank accounts and my wife's accounts if ever required - plus invested money back home I can get in 2-3 days. Am I missing anything? Is there something that having a marriage extension/Visa gives a person that the retirement one does not.? There was talk years ago that maybe they would make all O Retirement Extensions have health insurance like the O-A Retirement Visa. But the Thai Govt and Immigration never actually said anything about it - perhaps someone pointed out that was why the 800K bank deposit was made a requirement. Either way it seems obvious to get retirement extension rather than marriage.

Well said mate - and you are spot on. In my experience wealthy people have two things in common - they make smart decisions and they do not waste money. Only those pretending to be wealthy, willingly throw money away.
-
LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Well aren't you the WEALTHY one - how privileged you must feel - clearly superior to others less wealthy. I was once asked in Australia why I did not waste money on things, when I drove a ($130K) Mercedes CLK 280. I replied that I drive a Mercedes CLK 280, BECAUSE I dont waste money.

I am clearly talking about the risk if/when Thailand changes to a global taxation system - that is when I would want the confirmation from TRD *and LTR holders too no doubt) - after that happens if/when it happens. Risk Management is not about dealing only with what is here and now, but also about dealing with what could happen - especially that is likely to happen. I have already provided plenty of media links - the Thai Govt wants to move to global taxation from remittance only taxation, and TRD is working on it.

I am talking about myself and why for me it does not work. Why can you not accept that.
