Liz Cheney Endorses Kamala Harris, Citing Threat of Trump
Jingthing replied to Social Media's topic in World News
In my view being idiotically isolationist in the current situation in the world may be seen as short term anti-war, but in the long term means many more, even more severe, and much longer wars. Or even more risk of nuclear end games. Meaning Russia cannot be allowed to erase Ukraine. So let's say the maga morons push Ukraine to surrender. Do you seriously think that means that Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea will be finished with their aggressions? -

His system is not about debates. It's not about POLLS at all. His success rate is remarkable. He missed Bush vs. Gore but it's arguable that Gore actually won because the supreme court gave it to Bush. I was surprised though that his final call will probably be before the debate though but based on what he's said, it will be. Hint -- His final prediction will be Kamala Harris almost definitely.

Wait for Allan Lichtman's final prediction. COMING SOON!

Silly question. Of course she does. Her entire "marriage" has been 100 percent transactional from the start. Don't feel sorry for her though. She made her bed.

Ganymede (movie) A reasonably fun watch but nowhere near a must see. A mix of elements -- horror, coming out v. closet, young love story, religiously based homophobia, barbaric conversion therapy etc. The more novel part is adding the horror. You could do worse and you probably will. What to watch: 'American Murder' revisits infamous Laci Peterson case (mercurynews.com) “Ganymede”: The supernatural part proves to be the weakest link in directors Colby Holt and Sam Probst’s gay-themed thriller set in the South, and that’s not a dealbreaker given the “horror” part is intended to be simmering on the backburner. Where “Ganymede” (the title refers to a hunky Greek mythological character) proves most effective is when focused on high school wrestler Lee’s (Jordan Doww) reconciling an attraction to out student Kyle (Pablo Castelblanco) with his rabidly homophobic parents’ (Joe Chrest and Robyn Lively) insistence he leads a “virtuous” lifestyle. A bigger budget would have helped smooth out a few rough edges but “Ganymede” is a diamond-in-the-rough gem with a committed performance from Doww and a well-constructed screenplay from Holt that addresses how outside forces can create imaginary monsters that then could do us harm if we don’t fight them off. Details: 2½ stars;l available to rent now.

It may be important (doubtful) but it's really hard to do after reading the comments about this "TRUMP OR DEATH" banner from the cult.

Bob Smith? Doesn't ring a bell. Any relation to John Doe? -
Dude, you want contradictory things. You don't want Samsung phone but a lower end Samsung phone isn't good enough for you. Then you don't want a phone at all. You DO need a flippin' phone. Not a flip phone. A phone. Go to the flippin' phone stores and ask for the full function Android phone that they sell to the poorest people. You will hate it. It will handle all the phone apps you need. You can use a laptop PC for everything else. Suck it up buttercup.

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
Jingthing replied to Rimmer's topic in Entertainment
Among the most moving movies I've seen this year. Dormitory from Turkiye. It was enhanced for me because I've been to Turkiye and have some understanding of their politics and history around the conflict of secularism and Islamism. The lead boy actors were brilliant, especially the main lead who reminded me of a young Leonardo DiCaprio. The feel of the movie kind of evoked a French art film by Truffaut. Dormitory (Yurt, 2023) ‘MAMI Film Festival’ Review | High On Films Religion is a controversial subject to discuss, no matter what era we live in. With extremists taking over the minds of majorities, it has become even more difficult to exercise the freedom to practice faith in one’s own choice. 12-year-old Ahmet (played by Doga Karakas) faces a similar conflict. Set in 1997 Turkey, Nehir Tuna’s ‘Dormitory’ (Yurt) follows Ahmet’s struggle between practicing the faith of his father’s choice and the one that a majority of the population believed in at the time. At the turbulent phase of early adolescence, he grapples with the pressures put upon him by people who think it’s their right to do so. Dormitory (film) - Wikipedia The film was described as 'a pleasant surprise, offering the paradoxical story of a teenager caught between religious tensions and explosions of testosterone. -
Straw man garbage. I never said either of those things.

Unity is impossible as long as the maga fascist cult movement exists.

The replies on this thread aren't helping me respect Trump voters more. The truth is the best chance for Harris to win over the maga fascists is to motivate more people overall to vote rather than convert Trump lovers. The US isn't Australia. Trump never had and never will have majority support. Their entire game is minority rule.

I think that not all potential Trump voters are fully in his cult. It's highly unlikely to be able to deprogram those in the cult. But as a practical political matter its better to not openly show personal derision to have much chance of communication with the segment that is persuadable. Trump voters are not all racist for example but if you meet an American racist they are probably a Trump fan.
