  1. Eurovision in Malmo early May. Buzz about the Netherlands. Boycott buzz about Israel (they had to change the lyrics). They won't be kicked out though. Gotta love Olly.
  2. You're wrong. People do. The only question is about the numbers.
  3. How about atheism? Is Buddism really a religion anyway?
  4. I guess I'm conservative then (I kind of am) because I did study Thai culture in my earlier years here and discovered it's really not my cup of tea, so I treat Thailand like a poorer man's Miami. It's strictly transactional. Of course mainstream American culture isn't my thang either!
  5. Because it's obviously total B.S. to suggest Muslims wouldn't be safe there. Of course if they're there to specifically to aggressively provoke Jews, that's another story.
  6. It means the rematch that nobody wanted. Unfortunately there is a strong pro authoritarian movement against democracy in the world and it's winning. This rematch doesn't help the small d democratic cause. Can't we have better choices on both sides? On top of congress being dysfunctional and one of two major parties supporting Russia over Ukraine. this plays into enemies like Putin.
  7. Thsts like saying someone with viral pneumonia needs to be shot.
  8. I hope that I won't see as hopefully he won't take power.
  9. Yeah they were. The article is not so much about celebrities as masses of more typical people.
  10. I get what you're saying but it's more affordable than Puerto Vallarta.
  11. For people that are motivated to leave by politics, it would occur to them. I have met many Americans abroad over the years who have been motivated to leave by politics. But the vast majority have been right wingers.
  12. Historically most American expats do move to Mexico, but there are many other countries on the radar including Thailand, and qualifying for Mexico is now significantly MORE expensive than Thailand. You're making a prediction that there won't be an effect. I think it's possible but I do not know.
  13. So if they do come in a big wave how will you feel as an American about so many new anti maga American expats?
  14. That's what Putin says about the millions of Russians who have fled his dictatorship.
  15. The article makes a case it will be different this time.
  16. Well more maga Americans are moving to Russia now. Maybe they won't feel the need if Trump takes power.
  17. I make no predictions but this article suggests that yes more really will. https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-reelected-americans-are-planning-to-flee-in-droves-2024-3 "Fleeing Trumpland As the presidential election looms, millions of Americans are eyeing the exits." Personally when I left the USA the political situation in the US had nothing to do with it. In fact I was happy with the political situation there at the time. Before Trump of course.
  18. A few things. Trump is lying. He always lies. If the specifics of the debate are proposed, he will object to it. Also, he's playing a cynical game which seems to suggest there should be debates BEFORE the candidates are nominated by their parties. Naturally, no president would ever agree to that.
  19. Because watching TV and golfing isn't working.
  20. Trump cultists will believe anything.
