The weak republican house leader McCarthy made a deal to get his tiny power with the most fascist segment of his party led by the mad woman MTG where he loses power with just one vote. So it's much harder for him to make a deal and not lose power and power is what he cares about not the country.

The debt was created by both parties. Defaulting on the debt dramatically degrades the credibility of the entire country. No decent or credible American should entertain that as a possibility or use it in a thuggish blackmail manner. Not only is the republican party now a fascist party it is actively working to undermine our fragile American democracy.

I would see this differently depending on the motivation of the perps. Like if they were Nazis vs just silly adolescent pranksters. I did such a big prank myself in my youth. I stole the contents of a garbage can from the home of the Vice Principal of my high school and published a picture of it along with a full detailed inventory on the front page of the high school newspaper. There were a few juicy items in the list. Stolen garbage exposes of celebrities was trendy at the time so not an original idea. The miracle is that I wasn't expelled ha ha. Technically at least back then taking garbage left out for collection wasn't a crime.

In the majority of US states there are no anti-discrimination laws protecting gay people. In other words people can legally be either not hired or fired just for being gay in most of the US. But gave you a chance to make another tired woke joke so it's not a complete loss.

Flippen orcs Russians bomb home of this years Ukrainian Eurovision contestants. Based on their votes, they didn't need any help bombing. Russia seems schizoid about Eurovision. They don't agree with Eurovision human rights values but it also kind of seems they're pissed off that they aren't invited and it's hard to imagine when they will be, if ever, welcome again.

Eurovision 2023 Final: Sweden’s Loreen Makes History in Stunning Fashion – Rolling Stone I got started very late this year checking out the songs and only a very few really made an impression. Sweden of course. Also France, Israel, and Finland. I think Sweden was undeniable (second time Loreen won!), but I was surprised that France didn't do better. Israel's song grew on me with multiple watches but I was surprised it did as well as it did, even to the point of sort of being a contender. The Finland song I do get the appeal but it didn't do it for personally. Italy which did very well wasn't even on my radar.
