I haven't been to the region in a very long time but before visited Costa Rica, Brazil, Peru, Uruguay very briefly, and Argentina. But I keep a watch on it. Overall as a generality yes crime is more of a concern in Latin America than Thailand. I would suggest not bothering with Costa Rica. It's gotten relatively very expensive for the region, crime is on the increase, and the food is among the most boring in the world. If looking for similar scenery probably Panama or parts of Colombia would be better. Didn't say purpose of the trip. If it's to scout out retirement and/or long term expat destinations the itinerary should be different than just for tourism. For example, if you're a foodie Peru is a big draw. I do have a very important tip. Research vaccine requirements between Latin American countries very carefully! I don't recall the details but I've seen a number of reports of people not knowing about yellow fever vaccine requirements and not being able to travel to their desired country. You can't just get it last minute. This is about BETWEEN nations there. You won't need it coming from Thailand to any country there. Or you could get the jab before going to the region and then no problem. However not really so safe for older people.

Russia doesn't want peace either. They want to completely control Ukraine. Their ideology can't imagine a Russia without Ukraine. To get Russia in line, you've got to flippin' BEAT them in this war.

Trump will do nothing to upset his poodle Putin. HOWEVEVER, more and more there is a good chance that the U.S. congress will pass a VETO PROOF bill of bone crushing sanctions on Russia (energy and finances, secondary on those dealing with Russia). Then he can tell his poodle -- it wasn't me, dear one.

Many locals know about this delivery ordering website for mostly American and Mexican food. Hotmeals2u.com - Food delivery - Pattaya - Order online www.hotmeals2u.com Well, they've had a "Taco Tuesdays" offer for dog's years offering Tex Mex style tacos. Personally I don't like them much but have always liked their "wet" burrito Supreme with steak (be sure to ask for ranchero sauce on the side to make it wet!) which is always on the menu. Well there's some good news about this. Now on Taco Tuesdays they've added a much more authentic Mexican style taco option. It's birria pork, served with two side spicy sauces, and also a container of typical Mexican add ons -- chopped onion, cilantro. Soft flour tortillas only option. Of course in Mexico it would be soft corn but still good. Dudes -- this is the real deal taste of Mexico -- I kid you not. It's 225 baht such a deal and I add a side of refried beans and pimp it up at home with Chipotle hot sauce and sliced avocados. Order it deconstructed. Posting this is a bit selfish. I want to make sure they keep it on the menu so if there's a good demand they likely will! Of course if you're looking for Tex Mex style, don't order the birria.

Yes, Putin won't even can't even EVER agree to an end to this war short of Russian victory or total surrender by Ukraine. Why? Because this is existential for Putin the man. An end of this war short of MAXIMALIST Russian goals would be Putin's end as the leader and more than likely end as a living man. People that fail to get this basic fact really have no credibility in commenting on this war. To be clear, it wouldn't necessarily need to mean Russia literally taking over all of Ukraine. A situation where they could install a puppet would be fine, perhaps arguably even preferable. Putin will never offer any kind of "deal" short of positioning Russia to do at least that. As far as "peace talks" in Istanbul or Timbuktu for that matter, that is all a show to please the moronic Putin poodle Trump in which only minor agreements are even possible, such as prisoner exchanges. etc. Those minor things are worth doing of course but people don't delude yourselves that there is any space for actual substantive agreement between the two sides!

European Union woes: Poland’s Nawrocki pulls a upset!
Jingthing replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
The good news here, if any, is that presidents in Poland do not control foreign policy. -

A "small" movie with big time quality. Set in a lovely area of Arkansas (Hot Springs). -
Where is the political opposition in the US?
Jingthing replied to swissie's topic in Political Soapbox
It's kind of hard when your party controls NO branch of government. People from parliamentary system countries might not get that. The democrats in the house for example don't even have the power to get bills open for debate. -
The Kremlin propaganda brigade is working overtime on this one. Ukraine -- we knew they had "cards" all along.

Is This The Beginning of The End of The American Empire?
Jingthing replied to save the frogs's topic in Political Soapbox
The bill in congress now DOES cut Medicare. 4 percent every year. Also MASSIVE CUTS to Medicaid which is for the poorest Americans including poor children. With Maga cruelty is the point. As far as SS is concerned, not trying to pass any funding reform measures means it WILL be massively cut automatically for all in as early as 5 years. So why isn't such reform in Trump's big ugly help the billionaires bill? Because he's happy to see SS trashed over time. -
You're making a totally DISGUSTING conflation of Israelis and American Jews. Dude -- there are people in the USA who want to kill Jews both from the right and the left. Maga fascists trying to cynically use American Jews in this way is the total opposite of actually wanting to help Jews. Maga fascists are greatly contributing to Jew hatred.

Tariffs can be useful tools when used in limited, rational. and targetted ways. Trump's totally insane, totally unjustified by any economic theory trade war on the entire world including close allies was the opposite of that.
