  1. "It wasn't about slavery" is the false narrative associated with southern types that refer to the civil war as the war of Northern aggression. You get all kinds of revisionist history on these matters. Such as Trumpist types still associating modern democrats with slavery even though as far as racism the two parties did a complete 180.
  2. Hope that Brazil is more capable of locking up insurrectionist presidents than the US is.
  3. He definitely chose the "right" party. Kind of reminds me of Jared Kushner's interest in prison reform.
  4. Heard to today that he MUST apply for a new US visa within a month. He got the current visa when he was president. Things change. So extradition hopefully not needed.
  5. As far as Ukraine if the west loses its resolve to help beat Russia, China will definitely invade Taiwan. Talk about WW3.
  6. China will come back somewhat but they are limited by the CCP. So as far as non western markets I think INDIA is the play. But I'm not sure the best way to invest in it. It's not as if I'm going to directly buy on an Indian stock exchange. As far as China BYD EV company Interests me.
  7. Many more but heres some. For buy and hold for years. AMAZON! BRKB DIS MELI MSFT PANW TD LLY
  8. A big bull market will come eventually, either this year or next year. So arguably it's a great time to BUY stocks, but in my view, carefully selected stocks, and not indexes this time. A big worry I now have is that the radical nihilistic republicans (the extremists like Gaetz) have taken over the US congress and they have permission now to attach conditions to national budget bills. They will, the conditions will be unacceptable (such as attacking Medicare and Social Security) and then they will shut down the government. This is not only a US problem as such an event or event will crash market globally. The good news I guess is that after they crash, what a great buying opportunity!
  9. Yes, Zelensky gets the urgency and has been doing a great job communicating that, but sadly as strong as the western support has been, it still hasn't been strong or quick enough.
  10. Is the government of Brazil asking for that? If not, much as I detest him, I don't see the legal grounds if he is in the U.S. legally.
  11. He's not called the Trump of the Tropics for nothing. What a horror show.
  12. His sleazy outburst against Ms. Freeman might be because Mr. Trump has Georgia on his mind now. He's clearly worried that he is heading towards NOT being a "free man" himself. Donald Trump Indictment Threat Grows Closer (newsweek.com)
  13. Definitely puts a massive amount of pressure on Zelensky as the Kremlin isn't close to surrender.
  14. The Kings of the World Poignant sad story infused with Colombian magical realism and harsh class realities. The sweet scene with the boys being mothered in a rural house of eldery prostitutes would make Fellini proud. https://www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/review/the-kings-of-the-world-2022-film-review-by-amber-wilkinson "The dreamy surreal and harshest of realities rub shoulders in Laura Mora Ortega’s San Sebastián Golden Shell-winning drama, which also suggests the past and the present have a closer interplay than you might first think. Her tale of five street kids hoping to claim a patch of ancestral land often has the tone of a fable, emphasised by its opening near-post-apocalypic opening of a city street, empty of everything except a white horse, in which a voiceover notes: “One day all the men fell asleep and all the fences of the Earth burst into flames.”"
  15. Indeed. Pippo speaks the truth! https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/director-franco-zeffirellis-son-calls-002205055.html "Romeo and Juliet director Franco Zeffirelli's son has spoken out against the sexual exploitation lawsuit filed by stars Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey. Speaking with The Guardian, Pippo Zeffirelli called the lawsuit filed against Paramount Pictures last month "embarrassing" and maintained that the nude scene at the center of the complaint was "far from pornographic." He said of the case, "It is embarrassing to hear that today, 55 years after filming, two elderly actors who owe their notoriety essentially to this film wake up to declare that they have suffered an abuse that has caused them years of anxiety and emotional discomfort.""
  16. Huh? We have available most all of the video -- movies and TV going back over 100 years in the case of movies from all over the world and you can't find anything good to watch to your taste? Come on man! Yesterday I watched two Colombian movies. They were both good. Just an example.
  17. No limit except if you wish to apply for a new retirement extension you will need to be in Thailand before the current one expires.
  18. The are extremely radical and they will be causing major problems but the American voters won't be so stupid as the blame the democrats when the republicans force shutting down the government in 2024. We've seen this game before.
  19. It's very revealing to watch this video and see who was doing the same show in 2013 in Russia (before Putin stole Crimea) and to to see the usual fun (not war propaganda) tone of it.
  20. Yes but the right wing in the U.S. has now been hijacked in the house by the most insanely RADICAL wing of that party. Which means it's definite that there will be more opposition to giving Ukraine the military help it really needs -- enough to WIN this war ASAP as time is on Putin's side. Why? They don't really have coherent foreign policy but they mirror the Putin's poodle attitude of the leader of their party, Florida man Trump. They are very ISOLATIONIST, which is very much about domestic policy, similarly to the American fascists also using the "America First" slogan leading up to WW2, You'll hear a lot of garbage from them saying what happens in Ukraine doesn't matter to Americans. Europe etc. must continue to step it up, because support from the U.S. is likely to weaken.
  21. Never but there were these events which were not insurrectionist and not related to stopping the transfer of power. 4 historic attacks at the U.S. Capitol | CBC News Not to forget the British in 1814 which was part of a foreign invasion, not internal.
