I don't agree with that. The 2nd amendment isn't the problem per se. It's the interpretation of that amendment and specific national and local laws. The supreme court has already ruled that controls on guns are constitutional. So it's not necessary to abolish the 2nd (which will never happen) to legislate effective control laws. Not saying those laws will happen (NRA, minority rule by republicans), but they could happen 2nd amendment or not. -

I think it's pretty clear by now that there were major errors in the police response and they're trying to cover their blue asses. That said, while it's tempting to blame them for those errors, the real blame goes to ridiculously easy access to weapons of mass slaughter and of course the shooter himself. Also, it's probable that the shooter did most of the killings in the first few minutes which would make the long long delay mostly a moot point. -

These election results (Governor and Secretary of State) are very significant because: Trump's picks were based on Big Lie personal resentment and even Georgia republican voters weren't going for that. Both wins over 50 percent. No runoffs needed. Georgia runoffs are very common. Both winners avoided that. The two trumpist pro big lie LOSERS were threats to democracy. His pick for secretary of state was part of the new breed of ultra magas that are openly in favor of overturning election results they don't like. What that means is that if the trump pick had won, IF the democratic presidential candidate wins again in Georgia in 2024, it would be overturned to the republican trump or not, and a state like Georgia could turn the entire election. The American democracy is on very thin ice. These results thickened that ice a little bit and that is good news.

Not same. They are a minority party that has embraced autocracy and have seized minority rule. Particularly on the supreme court where they stole two lifetime slots which means far right wing dominance against the will if the people for several decades. -

New reports saying the gunman was in the school for 40 to 60 minutes not 30 which was bad enough. I don't get it. Something really stinks. -

Just riffing by trump. To enact something like that, such a policy needs to be legislated. It never was and he never advocated that it should be. NRA would never allow it either. A stopped clock is correct twice a day. -

We now know the shooter intended to hit an elementary school. There was speculation before that the target was more accidental as he had crashed his car near it. He got past armed security (three people, a very fast learner with the guns) and was in there slaughtering for 30 minutes before being stopped. The fact that law enforcement gave him 30 minutes in there is incredible and is destined to be a topic of much investigation. It is not known yet whether he had attended that school himself. -
