The incident occurred on Highway 290 near Ban Nong Phuang Yai in the Chaimongkol sub-district. Emergency responders from the Hook 31 Rescue Unit were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report at 13:55. Upon arrival, they discovered the ambulance overturned on its side and heavily damaged, with the utility pole broken and the driver trapped inside. The victim, identified as Mr Nontawat Donsaranoy, was found unresponsive at the wheel. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and had been on his way back to Pak Thong Chai Hospital after collecting blood supplies from the Region 5 Blood Service in Nong Bua Sala, Nakhon Ratchasima. Picture from responders. A foreign national tragically died after jumping from the 23rd floor of a high-rise office building in central Bangkok on 12 January. The incident occurred at approximately 17:30 in the Phaya Thai district, next to a renowned school grounds. Authorities responded promptly to reports of a person jumping from a building located on Sri Ayutthaya 10 Road. The police, along with medical staff from Ramathibodi Hospital and rescue workers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, arrived at the scene and found the body of a man, estimated to be around 50 years old, lying lifeless within the grounds of the school. The victim, dressed in a red long-sleeve shirt and black jeans, appeared to have fallen from a significant height. Upon closer examination, the victim’s right leg had been severed, landing in the alley outside the school grounds. A subsequent search of the body revealed personal belongings, including a phone, a power bank, a packet of cannabis, and a grinder. These items were collected by authorities for further investigation. Security footage revealed that the foreign man entered the building at 16:30, accessing the elevator to the 22nd floor. From there, he climbed the stairs to the rooftop of the 23rd floor, where it is believed he jumped. The building, which houses offices for rent, was largely unoccupied at the time, with maintenance workers performing repairs on the premises. The security guards on duty were unaware of the man’s presence inside the building as they were focused on supervising the maintenance work. According to security staff, the building is usually closed on weekends and public holidays, which may have provided the man with the opportunity to enter unnoticed. The victim reportedly took advantage of a lapse in security, entering the building unnoticed and making his way to the top floor before jumping to his death. At present, authorities have been unable to confirm the identity of the deceased individual. Investigators are still working to gather information and are seeking to locate any family members or witnesses who may help clarify the circumstances leading to the tragedy. They are also in the process of reviewing additional CCTV footage from both inside and around the building to gather further evidence. The police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that they are working closely with building management to obtain all relevant footage and further documentation. The village head, who was driving the vehicle, was seen kneeling in apology beside the victim’s body. The incident took place on the evening of 11 January. Pol. Lt. Jirarot Mongkolthanasupat, an investigator at Nang Rong Police Station, received a report of a fatal fall in the Nong Song Subdistrict, Nang Rong District. Rescue personnel from the Siam Ruamjai Pu In Foundation were dispatched to the scene. The incident occurred on a village road in Ban Khok Tako, Moo 9. The victim, identified as Mr. Jamlong 50, was found lying face down in a rice field. Upon examination, he was found to have suffered a broken neck and significant blood loss. Sitting nearby in a state of distress was Mr. Waradet 53, the village head of Moo 9, who repeatedly apologised to the deceased. Mr. Waradet explained that he and three workers, including the victim, had been collecting hay bales from a field. The hay bales were stacked on a trailer towed by a tractor, forming a pile approximately 4 metres high. The victim had chosen to sit atop the stack while the trailer was being driven to a storage facility nearby. As the group travelled slowly, another worker following behind on a motorcycle noticed the victim fall from the top of the stack and struck the ground. The worker immediately alerted Mr. Waradet, who stopped the vehicle and rushed back to find the victim unresponsive. The hay storage facility was only 100 metres away when the incident occurred. The police and rescue team arrived to examine the scene, and the victim’s body was later sent for further examination. Authorities are investigating the incident, with initial findings pointing to unsafe working practices. -- 2025-01-13

Picture from responders. A crash occurred on the Phahonyothin Road in Kamphaeng Phet’s Khlong Khlung district on the night of January 11, leaving two parents dead and their three-year-old daughter critically injured. The incident took place at kilometre 410 (Asian Highway) near Ban Khlong Nam Yen Nuea. Police Lieutenant Colonel Udom Muangma, an investigator from Khlong Khlung Police Station, and rescue workers from Sawang Kamphaeng Phet Rescue Foundation responded to the scene. A silver Honda car had collided with a lorry, and the impact crushed the car beneath the lorry’s front wheels, leaving it completely wrecked. Three people, a man, a woman, and a young girl, were trapped inside the car. Initial checks revealed that the man and woman had died from the impact, while the three-year-old girl, identified as Miss Kanyarat, was found clinging to life in her mother’s arms. Due to the weight of the lorry and the precarious position of the car, rescue teams had to carefully use cranes and hydraulic cutting equipment to extract the victims. After two hours of efforts, they managed to pull the child from the wreckage and rush her to Khlong Khlung Hospital. Tragically, the parents, identified as Mr. Nattawut, 34, and Miss Fuengfa, 26, were pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported that the Honda car driver appeared to lose control and swerve erratically before crossing the median and crashing head-on into the lorry traveling in the opposite direction. Dashcam footage from a pickup truck following the car showed the car weaving before the collision occurred. A local garage owner near the scene, Mrs. Waraporn, 47, confirmed hearing a loud crash and rushing outside to see the lorry on top of the wrecked car. Although her garage’s CCTV cameras captured the incident, she was unable to access the footage as her husband, who has the password, was away. According to the family of the deceased, the couple had taken their daughter out to a local shopping mall earlier that evening to celebrate Children’s Day. The lorry driver, who sustained leg injuries, is currently being treated at Khlong Khlung Hospital. Authorities plan to question him further as part of the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the severely injured child has been transferred to Kamphaeng Phet Hospital for urgent treatment. -- 2025-01-12

American Man Saves Pattaya Woman in Bridge Rescue A tense scene unfolded in Pattaya on the evening of January11, as a young woman attempted to jump from a pedestrian bridge, only to be rescued by a American bystander. Full story:https://aseannow.com/topic/1348589-american-man-saves-pattaya-woman-in-bridge-rescue/ -
Picture from responders. A tense scene unfolded in Pattaya on the evening of January11, as a young woman attempted to jump from a pedestrian bridge, only to be rescued by a American bystander. At approximately 17:30 rescue services and police in Pattaya responded to reports of a distressed individual attempting to leap from the pedestrian bridge near Sukhumvit Soi 53(Soi Nern Plubwan). Upon arrival, they discovered a 23-year-old woman, identified only as Ms. Wi, crying uncontrollably and standing precariously outside the bridge railings. Despite efforts by authorities and bystanders to talk her down, Ms. Wi remained unresponsive. In a moment of courage, 38-year-old Mr. Joe, an American national who happened to be on the bridge, made the split-second decision to act, lunged forward and pulled the woman to safety. Mr. Joe suffered minor injuries to his leg during the rescue, but he shrugged them off, explaining that he had noticed the woman crying and feared for her safety. “I tried talking to her, but she didn’t respond,” he said. “When I saw she was about to jump, I knew I had to act immediately.” This incident follows a previous suicide attempt by Ms. Wi just days earlier. On 7 January, she reportedly tried to jump from a five-story commercial building in Pattaya’s Town in Town area (see link below). At that time, she was wearing the same outfit seen in today’s incident, and authorities were able to intervene before she could harm herself. Police from the Pattaya City Police Station have since contacted the woman’s family, urging them to closely monitor her and provide emotional support. They emphasised the importance of addressing her mental health needs to prevent further incidents. If you or anyone you know is in emotional distress, please contact the Samaritans of Thailand 24-hour hotline: 02 713 6791 (English), 02 713 6793 (Thai) or the Thai Mental Health Hotline at 1323 (Thai). A car chase in Chaiyaphum province ended in chaos when a speeding vehicle lost control and crashed into a roadside store and shop, igniting a fire that engulfed the car. Fortunately, the driver and passengers managed to escape just moments before the fire. The incident occurred at approximately 19:00 on January 11, near Tan Prachan Community School in Ban Tan subdistrict, Ban Tan district. A silver Toyota Vios, speeding along the Ban Tan-Nong Ruea road with a police vehicle in pursuit, failed to navigate a attempted manoeuvre to lose the police. Picture from responders. Pol. Lt. Col. Nevin Suntavanik, Deputy Inspector of Huai Yai Police Station, Chonburi, received a report at approximately 19.00 on January 11, of a human skeleton discovered inside a suitcase abandoned on a stretch of road in Moo 6, Huai Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. The site was about 1 kilometre from the intersection of Highway 331. Authorities, including Pol. Lt. Col. Nevin, Pol. Lt. Col. Pornprom Muangbangyung, Deputy Superintendent, investigators, and rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation, promptly arrived at the scene. The suitcase, a dark red 32-inch case, was found discarded in a roadside drainage ditch overgrown with grass and weeds. Inside, officers discovered a human skeleton believed to have been dead for at least three months. Alongside the remains were a brown T-shirt with a baseball logo on the chest, green underwear, and a white-and-pink striped towel. Mr. Peerapat Lawchud, 25, and Mr. Mongkol Thepwongsa, 30, construction workers who discovered the suitcase, said they were returning to their camp when their rear right tyre burst. As they stopped to change it, Mr. Peerapat noticed the suitcase in the grass and, upon closer inspection, called Mr. Mongkol to help retrieve it. When they opened the case and saw a human skull, they were shocked and immediately called the police. Mr. Yothin Samoomchan, 33, a road maintenance worker, stated that he had seen the suitcase on January 8 while using machinery to level the road. However, he had not thought much of it until hearing the news about the skeleton. He provided his account to police as part of the investigation. Pol. Lt. Col. Nevin confirmed that the skeleton would be sent to the Forensic Institute at the Police General Hospital for examination to determine its identity and to try to determine the cause of death. Pol. Lt. Col. Pornprom noted that no traces of blood or bodily fluids were found on the suitcase, raising suspicions that the dry skeleton may have been deliberately placed in the case and abandoned. Authorities are working to unravel the mystery of the skeleton’s origin and circumstances of death. The investigation is ongoing. -- 2025-01-12
