The incident took place at an apartment building in Soi Wat Bang Kho, Bang Muang Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province, sparking concerns among residents. The building owner, Mr. Chakrit Neelapaijit, 42, reported that the incident occurred around 03:20 on October 13. The footage shows a small-framed man wearing glasses, with a mask under his chin, dressed in a volunteer civil defense shirt. He rode up to the apartment on a motorcycle, walked up to the second floor, and stole a pair of Nanyang-brand sandals. The footage then shockingly reveals that the man performed a sexual act , to completion, with the sandals before fleeing the scene. Mr. Chakrit stated that a tenant had informed him of multiple instances where sandals had gone missing from outside their rooms. Upon checking the CCTV footage, he was shocked by what he saw. “This man brazenly entered the building, stole the sandals, and used them for his sexual gratification. It’s concerning that he could enter so easily, without fear, raising serious safety concerns for my tenants,” he said. Mr. Chakrit expressed his hope that the authorities would intervene to ensure the individual receives appropriate mental health treatment, as this was not the first incident involving the same man. One of the victims, Mr. Chokchai Kadprasert, 49, explained that he noticed his Nanyang sandals were missing again when he was leaving to take his partner to work. “This has happened multiple times,” he said. “After checking the CCTV footage, I was shocked to see the man stealing my sandals and committing an obscene act with them before taking off. I had previously noticed strange stains near my door, but I never imagined this.” Mr. Chokchai shared his concerns about the safety of the apartment and called on the authorities to act swiftly to prevent further incidents. Upon further investigation, it was identified that the perpetrator was a Mr. Toon, 26, who was previously arrested in 2020 for similar thefts in the Nonthaburi area. Mr. Toon admitted that he is a patient at Srithanya Hospital and claimed his behaviour was due to not taking his prescribed medication. Local residents are now worried about their safety, urging authorities to take action to prevent further incidents. 5. The Commander of the Chonburi Provincial Police, Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat Jindakornsanoong, has signed the order on October 12, to transfer Police Sub-Inspector Aisoon Dathong, Deputy Investigator of Najomtien Police Station, to Chonburi Provincial Police headquarters amid allegations of orchestrating a major theft. The move follows the arrest of four suspects in a theft case involving the stealing of heavy machinery worth nearly 10 million baht. The case, which surfaced on October 12, 2024, involves a group accused of stealing large industrial equipment, including a transformer and a vibrating roller, from a scrap yard in Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. The arrested suspects reportedly implicated Pol. Sub-Inspector Aisoon Dathong as the mastermind behind the operation. Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat has initiated a formal investigation to determine the officer’s involvement. If evidence of wrongdoing is found, he vowed to impose severe disciplinary measures. Criminal charges will be pursued if necessary, to set an example for other police officers who may engage in similar conduct. National Police Chief, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, has ordered further scrutiny into the case, instructing Pol. Lt. Gen. Somprasong Yentuam, Commander of Region 2 Police, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat to report on any disciplinary or criminal actions taken against the accused officer. A deadline of three days has been set for a detailed report. Authorities believe that this criminal gang has committed several similar crimes in the past, targeting abandoned factories with valuable machinery. Investigations are ongoing, and additional legal action is expected as evidence continues to emerge. This case has drawn widespread attention, highlighting concerns about corruption and misconduct within the police force. The swift action taken by the police commanders demonstrates a commitment to accountability and transparency in addressing these serious allegations. Picture courtesy of ThaiRath. -- 2024-10-14

  11. UPDATE Rescue Workers Shocked by Lightning Strike That Killed Goalkeeper on Field, Ball Boy Miraculously Unharmed Rescue worker Tussanah Suraphap, 42, from Ban Chang Phutthatham Foundation, shared his account of the tragic lightning strike that claimed the life of a goalkeeper during a football match. The incident occurred on October 12 at around 14:00 while a seven-a-side football game was being played amid heavy rain, which eased as the match neared its end, just before a corner kick was to be taken. Tussanah described how the rain had almost stopped when, suddenly, two bolts of lightning struck behind the goalposts. It was unclear whether the strikes hit the ground or a nearby tree, as the players and spectators were focused on the corner kick. No one was paying attention to the goalkeeper at that moment. Moments later, the goalkeeper for Pluak Daeng United collapsed unexpectedly. Though he wasn’t hit directly, he appeared to have been struck by the tail end of the lightning. The strike caused the goalkeeper to fall with symptoms resembling electrocution. Rescue workers immediately rushed to administer first aid and performed CPR from the football field to Ban Chang Hospital. Although the goalkeeper briefly regained consciousness and tried to speak, he quickly lost consciousness again and passed away at hospital. What made the incident even more baffling, Tussanah noted, was the presence of a ball boy standing close to the goalkeeper, behind the goal. Despite his proximity to the lightning strike, the boy was completely unharmed. -- 2024-10-13

  16. A 55-year-old Scottish tourist, Ms. Henderson, experienced a severe reaction after consuming an excessive amount of cannabis, leading to a public disturbance that required police intervention. The incident took place at a resort on Jomtien Beach Road in Chonburi on October 12, after hotel staff were unable to control the situation and called for assistance. At 12:40, Pol. Lt. Sontaya Khonsap, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, responded to the call. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Ms. Henderson in a state of extreme fear, crying and shaking inside her room, which was left in disarray. A jar of cannabis flowers, paraphernalia for smoking, and prescription medication were discovered in the room. Officers attempted to calm her down and escort her to the hotel reception area, but her behavior quickly escalated. According to a Danish man, who had been friends with Ms. Henderson for over 15 years, they had been in Pattaya for just two days to enjoy their retirement. The previous day, Ms. Henderson purchased cannabis to smoke, after which she began exhibiting unusual behaviour. She became paranoid, fearing that someone was out to harm her, and isolated herself in her room. Concerned for her safety, her friend alerted hotel staff, who then contacted the police for help. As officers attempted to escort Ms. Henderson to a police vehicle, she became increasingly agitated, fearing she would be harmed. She resisted their efforts, sticking her tongue out and making faces at the police and passersby. Police eventually managed to take her to a medical facility for treatment. It is suspected that her erratic behaviour was triggered by a combination of her pre-existing medical condition and an excessive amount of cannabis. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and ensure the well-being of the tourist. Picture courtesy of Sattahip News. -- 2024-10-13
