The barge was carrying 4,000 tons of granite on a route from Songkhla to Singapore when water entered the barge’s hull, causing the vessel to tilt to its starboard side. The incident occurred in the Gulf of Thailand, approximately 3 nautical miles from the mouth of Thepha’s waterway, in Songkhla province, at coordinates Lat 6°54.1326’N Long 101°00.0676’E. Despite attempts to pump the water out, the vessel began to sink, with half of the barge submerged . The tugboat is owned by CHG Marine Services PTE. LTD., and its local representative is Lion Oil Limited. Upon receiving the distress signal, the crew of the CHG 11 was able to safely tow the barge to a shallow area for salvage operations. The incident did not occur in a major shipping lane, and no obstructions to maritime traffic were reported. All eight crew members aboard the tugboat were confirmed to be safe, with no injuries or fatalities. Banterng Laowcharoen, the superintendent of Muang Songkhla Police Station, received a report of four bodies found inside a two-story house in Soi Saiburi 49, Boyang Subdistrict, Songkhla Province. Police, forensic teams, and rescue services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the body of the 62-year-old homeowner near the front door, and the body of his 15-year-old son on the living room sofa. Upstairs, the body of the 40-year-old wife was found in the bedroom, holding a 9mm handgun, while the body of their 17-year-old daughter was discovered in another bedroom. Initial investigations suggest that the wife shot her husband, who was a former local government councillor, as well as her son, a 10th-grade student at a prestigious local school, and her daughter, a 12th-grader preparing for university entrance exams, before turning the gun on herself. Emergency responders, including officers from the Expressway Authority of Thailand and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a black Toyota Fortuner flipped upside down. The vehicle was severely damaged and inside the wreckage, the driver was found deceased at the wheel, with multiple injuries. The victim was identified as 52-year-old Mr. Thammarat (last name withheld), a sales manager from Pathum Thani province. Initial investigations suggest that the victim who was driving alone, likely returning from work in the Bang Na area to his home in Lam Luk Ka. It is believed that the driver may have attempted to exit towards Lam Luk Ka but lost control of the vehicle. UPDATE Fire Erupts in Pattaya Beer Bar and Guesthouse, Guests Trapped Inside A fire broke out early on October 7, at a beer bar and guesthouse located at 219/33, Soi 13/1, Beach Road, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. The fire caused chaos as six guests, including one foreign tourist were trapped inside the building. The blaze started around 08:00 in a five-story commercial building, with the fire originating on the ground floor. The flames blocked the entrance, preventing some residents from escaping. Firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the fire, eventually gaining control of the situation. Rescuers then managed to bring the trapped residents out of the building, the foreign tourist was spotted on a second floor balcony and firefighters reached him by ladder, but were able to escort out through the building. One person suffered from respiratory issues caused by smoke inhalation and was taken to Bang Lamung Hospital. The ground floor, which operated as a beer bar, suffered fire damage, while the upper floors, used as guest rooms, were not directly damaged by the fire but were filled with smoke. Emergency responders immediately worked to ventilate the building to clear the smoke. Wannee Phanlai, 42, the guesthouse caretaker, explained that she was resting on the fifth floor when she received a phone call informing her of the fire. In a panic, she rushed downstairs, encountering smoke. She attempted to escape and found the fire crew already trying to put out the fire. She suspects the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, as she heard an explosion while firefighters were battling the blaze. Initial investigations are being conducted by Pol. Lt. I have gone back over all the reports and images from the scene. There were very few good images available when the original post was written. I don’t believe those are scrap marks, just shadows on a poor quality picture. (best that was available at the time). Below are further images, which have become available later, one shows the location of the 2 girls bodies (in the red box) and the other clearly shows no marks on the road beyond the bike. All reports say the pickup was travelling the wrong way against the traffic.

Emergency responders on the morning of October 7 at approximately 08.00, were called to a fire on Soi 13 off of Pattaya Beach Road. The fire was reported in a bar below a guest house, and smoke seen coming from the bar and the Tattoo shop next door. The fire was quickly dealt with by responders, but resorted in smoke logging of the premises. As the fire service were using ventilation fans to clear the smoke a hotel guest was spotted on the second floor balcony with smoke still lingering from the room behind them. A ladder of put up on the front of the building to access the guest, but he was led to safety by firefighters internally through the guest house, with a towel over his head. The tourist was given first aid for the effects of smoke inhalation at the scene. The cause of the fire and extent of damage is still under investigation. Rescue workers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and a team of divers arrived at the scene and conducted a search, watched by a large crowd of locals, locating the body of the deceased around 21:00 after a three-hour search. The victim was later identified as Mr. Hein Pyae Tun, an 18-year-old Myanmar national who worked at a local factory in the Khlong 9 area. According to Mr. Wasan Thongchuea, a volunteer with the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, the victim had gone fishing with two coworkers by the canal. At one point, he expressed a desire to swim and immediately jumped into the water. However, after reaching the middle of the canal, he was unable to swim back and tragically drowned. Local residents who witnessed the event immediately alerted the authorities, and a dive team was dispatched to the scene. After three hours of searching, the team recovered the body. Suranun Meephan, an investigator with Ao Noi Police Station, responded to an emergency call about a pick-up truck veering off the road and crashing into a shop. The incident occurred on a rural highway connecting Ban Nong Yai Aem to Baan Nok in Moo 15, Ban Rai Yub, Ao Noi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Rescue workers from Sawang Prachuap Thammasathan Foundation were dispatched to assist the victims and transport them to Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital. At the scene, police found a white Toyota 4WD pick-up truck, license plate number from Prachuap, that had crashed off the side of the road. A crowd of onlookers gathered nearby, and tyre marks stretched approximately 50 metres, indicating the vehicle had lost control. The roadside som tam shop was in ruins, grills toppled, and the tiled roof shattered. A cow near the shop, had also been injured in the collision. Of the six people involved, two men and three women were injured, while one man, identified as 68-year-old Sombun Plai-ngam, succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. According to witnesses, the truck was carrying six workers, all related, from Ban Nong Mai Kaen and heading to work on a pineapple farm in Ban Nikhom Kilo 8. The vehicle veered off the road, hitting the cow before crashing into the som tam shop, scattering goods and causing significant damage. As the truck lost control, the passengers were thrown from the vehicle, resulting in injuries and one fatality. Ms. Chanphen, also known as May, a 32-year-old som tam vendor, recounted that she was preparing her stall as usual when she heard the vehicle lose control. In a split second, she abandoned her stall and ran to safety. “The truck crashed into the shop, toppling everything. Only the front part of the shop remains intact. I was so scared—if I hadn’t jumped out of the way, I wouldn’t have survived,” she said. Ms. Chanphen also mentioned that she usually brings her child to sit in front of the shop in the mornings, right where the truck crashed. Fortunately, on that day, she had left her child at home, narrowly avoiding what could have been a tragic outcome.
