Where do foreigners fit in the Thai hierarchy?
Robert Paulson replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It’s easy to answer this question in my estimation just think what a cop or judge would do if you were up against the lowest of the low Thais like a homeless freak or a strung out prostitute. They would favor the Thais. Everytime. So you’re lower than the lowest. -
My take on this is I obviously have not seen video or anything but I honestly feel I could not even point a gun in someone direction and pull the trigger no matter how many times I checked whether it was a dummy round or live round. I mean how do you ever point it at someone direction and pull the trigger?

I was quoted 100k to remove a hemorrhoid. Outrageous.
Robert Paulson replied to advancebooking's topic in Health and Medicine
They are 100% treatable in most cases by yourself. If you want my opinion toilets are hemrhoid manufacturers. Stay off toilets… well when you go, go right away and get off right away. Do not sit there for an hour like your dad and grandpa did. -
Let’s just say there was inflation though. Ok… well you still don’t know how <deleted> works. Most Thais drive out to issan every damn holiday and load up on rice and whatever the hell else. It’s just “free” staples they ain’t paying no more than they did even one or two decades ago. there’s food everywhere people. The stuff even grows on trees. This isn’t Manchester where it’d be a miracle to see a single piece of ripe fruit hanging off a tree. You got all sorts a stuff out there. The stuff just grows. It’s amazing. Shove that up your inflation pipe.

I could seriously list 20 food items in markets that have not changed in price in ten years. Really the same goddam produce Thai herbs, 3 for 10 baht… it’s all the same prices. The vegetable the basic the damn Thai whatever herbs. Lemongrass. It’s all the same. Your imported apricot jam may have increased but the stuff Thais buy has not. At least not in many areas it hasn’t.

To me, a good example of actual inflation is in the usa, your rent is 1000 dollars per month. In a years time they hike it twice and now it’s 1400 and you look for other places and there is no finding the 1000 again. That doesn’t exist in Thailand. I stayed in a thai building right by a bts station a few years back and it was 4000 baht a month, and I didn’t even shop around. There’s no inflation here because you can live as cheaply or as expensive as you want here. This is not true in other countries. Once again, people don’t get it. Just because you need to eat croissants, imported butter, wine and stuff you fat faces with pizza every week doesn’t mean there’s inflation just because that stuff went up.

Thailand Faces Economic Question: China and EV Cars
Robert Paulson replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Idk who they are but I know they don’t actually care about the environment. It’s so painfully obvious to me. I mean do I seriously have to sit here and even convince people that the dudes driving teslas are doing it for the environment? That’s the last thing they care about. just for fun I’ll post some of the same facts here as I did in the other threads: if you slow down when driving you save up to about 30% in fuel, either ev or gas. Notice how this isn’t common knowledge. Yeah because the gas companies hate it if youknow this. It’s due to wind resistence which is much higher at higher speeds. Should be common knowledge, but it’s not on purpose. You wanna save the environment? And other people’s lives? Slow down. That’s the truth. The evs are just bs yuppie signaling -
Because even if inflation has gone up, which is hasn’t imo, it’s being counteracted by receiving money from overseas at this point in time. there’s tons of Thais who have been making 10k a month for the last 10 years. Are they living in the gutter now due to inflation? No their lives are roughly the same in my estimation. How could that possibly be if “prices have doubled”? I believe Thai “inflation” is a tax just meant to extract more money from people who have it. If one shops wisely prices have stayed more or less the same, and to answer your question again, they’ve even went down if you’re receiving overseas money in the current environment.

Thailand Faces Economic Question: China and EV Cars
Robert Paulson replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Everyone who is into ev acts like they are so concerned about the environment. Meanwhile their last car was a gas guzzling suv. Imo almost everyone should be driving super gas efficient cars. Of course commercial vehicles get a pass. I’ve said many times on this forum I get 70 miles per gallon on highway here in Thailand and I think those numbers could even be pumped up with all energy and design put on better fuel efficiency. But nobody cares everyone wants suvs and ev’s because it’s somehow cool. They’re not cool. Drive fuel efficient cars. Drive speeds conducive to fuel efficiency… which means driving much slower to the uninitiated (for not ev and gas). Everyone speeds though. It’s dangerous, it’s bad for the environment. Nobody actually cares about the environment it’s all virtue signaling trendy yuppie bs -
Swedish man arrested for 972 days overstay in Thailand
Robert Paulson replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Good for him. I think he coulda hit 1000 days if he did not threaten to kill someone -
There’s no inflation. There’s even inverse of inflation. It’s 36 baht for dollar and likely could go much higher in the next year or two. These threads annoy me because these fat, expat farang show up and tell us how their cheese and wine has doubled. Yes. Of course. It’s silly. If you eat Thai food the costs are the same now as they were a decade ago. If you live right smack in the middle of a huge tourist area of course prices have gone up. But in thai areas they have not.

Heavy rain warning issued for 35 provinces in Thailand
Robert Paulson replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Everything is severe now. Nothing is just normal. You can’t just say “it’s hot” anymore these days, nobody will pay attention. You gotta say “it’s like so soooo hot, bro” -
The Investing Year Ahead
Robert Paulson replied to Mike Lister's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I don’t think it’s wise to keep money in the market right now. As Alexander Delarge said a little of the ol in out in out may be ok -
How is this post holding up years down the line? Interestingly, don’t know if I’m the only one who noticed this, the strongest defenders of the vaccine in the early days are quiet as a mouse now. I guess that doesn’t mean anything, right? https://aseannow.com/topic/1236596-will-this-pandemic-ever-end-as-the-infections-in-the-uk-surge-again/?do=findComment&comment=16998994
