  1. But I know someone who is right behind him.
  2. And neither do I, but there are others out there that do.
  3. I guess in your whole life you have never failed to let your guard down.
  4. At least give credit where credit is due. Thankfully, in all my years visiting Thailand I have never had any contact with them, the RTP.
  5. Agree. I have been making annual visits for over 20 years and never once saw or experienced anything close to an assault. Everyone has been polite and treated me with respect.
  6. CWK, a newbie AN could do without.
  7. Mandate or not, there is a limit to what he can do. That is the purpose of having three branches of government.
  8. Never claimed to be either and never my desire to be either one.
  9. Medications, including aspirin (paracemetol) is always ridiculously expensive in U.S. hospitals and I would assume is the same in many other places. Since you have been in Thailand for long and know how about business practices, why didn't you inquire earlier about a less expensive source or alternative?
  10. Maybe there was a hidden charge for her TLC. Just kidding. Here in Hawaii I went back to my dermatologist after skin surgery to address an irritation caused by the bandage. The nurse took care of it. No charge. I asked her if there was anything I could bring back for her from our upcoming trip to Thailand. She said, "Just a postcard." Six weeks later I showed up announced with a goody bag of Thai snacks. Just loved the big smile on her face and a gracious thank you.
  11. Approval applied for in U.S., Canada and Australia. Knowing the FDA, it will take forever and a day for approval in the U.S.
  12. I was making light of your use of the word "probably" in describing Musk's motivations and intentions. Just because Musk exerts a lot of influence doesn't necessarily mean he will get his way. We will have to wait and see how accurate your description is.
  13. MBS is no fool. He wants to be on the winning side. Now that Iran's proxies have been degraded it is only wise to either stay neutral or move towards a better relationship with Israel and its western allies. Trump's victory has made it all the more imperative for the Saudis to take an anti-Iran stance. The situation in Syria also bears watching as to whether Al Jolani is able to move the country on to a nonsectarian state like he promised. Whether the Saudis continue their demand for a 2-state solution is debatable.
  14. With you writing the script anything is probable.
  15. A lifelong friend of mine has copies of manifests from ships carrying immigrants from China, Japan and the Azores in his plantation museum. I have been there when visitors come in to trace their genealogy. Yes, quite interesting.
  16. You are right about ag and meat processing. Not so sure about hospitality. I am only familiar with the Filipinos in Hawaii and Mexicans in Vegas.
  17. I am 84, pushing 85. My mother's parent's immigrated to Hawaii in the very early 1900's. Her mother from Ukraine, fleeing the unrest and purging of the aristocracy. Her father from China, hired as the ship's doctor tending to immigrants contracted to work on the sugar plantations. The bulk of immigrants to Hawaii at the time were contract workers from China, Japan and the Azores. Illegal immigration wasn't a problem for the Territorial government. Today is a different story, especially with overstays. It is estimated that 40,000 or so illegals are in the state.
  18. The U.S., like many countries has laws governing immigration. If they are not being enforced, then why have them. I hear many on AN complain about Thailand's lax enforcement of its traffic laws. It definitely shows in the statistics. Same for the U.S. enforcing its immigration laws. Again statistics shows what happens when enforcement is lax.
  19. My point is that there is no justification for illegal immigration and you are laying the blame on Congress and Trump for not stopping it. The bottom line is illegal immigration is wrong no matter who is responsible for not stopping or curbing it. By the way, I did not realize that Canada is letting in millions of illegal immigrants in less than a week.
  20. Until lobbying is curtailed or banned this vote buying will continue. The high cost of prescription drugs is only one example of this legal form of corruption.
  21. So you are saying the bottom line is to break the law if it takes too long to get something done. In this case, immigrants. One analogy would be if it takes too long to check out your bag of groceries, then walk out without paying. I could give you many more examples of your faulty logic.
