  1. Compared to convience stores in NZ, 7-11 is fantastic. Here they're open all the time, prices are the same no matter what branch you go to. They aren't a rip off over supermarkets. For example in NZ you could pay say $1 for a 1.25 litre of Fanta in a Supermarket . The same drink in a convience store will be about $3.50. I like it here. Most 7-11 have the same or similar set up so it's easy to find stuff. All good!
  2. Yep she sure is hot. I'm still doin it tough with no air con. Multiple cold showers throughout the day and a fan. It's night time I find the hardest. Room sits at around 34 till about 1am. Over night low 25 if we're lucky. The fan doesn't do much but circulate hot air. But on the bright side, all my skin pores are getting a good clean out. Reminds me of time in Mogadishu early 90s. Freakn hot and you sweat all day every day. I've never drunk so much water in my life. I suppose that a positive too. Still trying to get missus hooked on getting an a/c and the room insulated properly. Would be a godsend in this weather.
  3. Was in Mega Home (Korat) at the end of last year. Can't remember what I bought but at the checkout, the lady said in perfect English 'Thankyou for shopping here and have a great new year'. I was blown away and commented that her English was very very good. Had I been single, I may have visited that store a bit more often after that. She was very easy on the eye and lovely personality. In someways agree with the OP.
  4. Boys will be boys.... Mommy can you please pay my fine? Little brats can do anything they want with very little consequences to themselves.
  5. I've got an unopened DVD box set of the Prisoner back in NZ. Really enjoyed the series on TV as a young lad. Lotus Super 7. Big boys go cart. Fun fun.
  6. Where are all the women on this site? Those that know better stay away I'd think. Suppose that will be most of them. And it's safer for them to be in the 'closed women's forum' IMHO.
  7. Possibly shell shocked by all the meat on display the previous night. I'd think that's the only front line he's been in recently. Not acceptable behaviour in any country (Maybe Pakistan).
  8. Wait until more info comes to hand. Are the canal sides steep/angled/easy to get out of? Could the person swim? Alcohol involved? Too many unknowns
  9. So Luxon is visiting... Oh yay! The 2 smiling clowns are going to get together and accomplish the same as usual.... nothing.
  10. Tourist visas are not free. The printout from the Thai Embassy in Wellington NZ is correct. Visa exempt / visa on arrival is free. 2 different visas.
  11. My gut feeling is that the IO knows full well how the system via an agent works. As there are perceived back handers, perhaps the IO does not want this to stop? I agree with another post, apply for a non O visa back in your home country and follow up with the Retirement side of it on your return. Maybe via a different office.
  12. No reason why not. My missus has Thai and Belgium passports. She was using Belgium one in order to get into NZ easier. When we came back to Thailand she initially used the Belgium one but switched back on one of my visa runs to Vientiane. So it's possible.
  13. My last and only scam to date revolved around PayPal. Long story short: Won an online auction. Guy wanted payment via PayPal. I didn't have a PayPal account but was told easy to open. Started the process to join. Received email stating all good. Then another email stating Seller had incorrectly put sale price with additional transportation charges. Requested that I pay the whole amount then will be refunded transportation fee. Contacted 'real' PayPal and found it was a scam. Seems like nothing is safe these days.
  14. Like BE88 suggested. Has the Chinese population increased in the area since you were away?
  15. Most likely last year's stock being sold to unsuspecting tourists... Yes hansum man, Thai beer always taste like this!
  16. Way too many regardless of the time of year. One of the reasons why I stay home during 'silly season'.
  17. Yes, the forward assist bolt. 5.56mm round and a very lightweight rifle. Good for close combat not much else. I never got use to the sound of the spring in the butt as it reloaded. Horrible twang sound. Sounded like a toy. The old SLR, now that at 7.62mm had a bit more of a whack. Damn heavy though. Not really suited to close combat but was used. I like the sound of this new laser weapon. If it does as its portrayed then if I was the enemy, I'd be very worried.
  18. I also believe that there is no actual allocation of overhead bin space, however you would think it logical to store your kit above your seat. Safety or security blog say to store it above the opposite seat so you can keep an eye on it. I've seen people but their kit in the first available bin, which I think only exacerbates the problem further along. On the odd occasion that a bin directly above my seat is full then I look to put my kit 'forward' of that position, so I don't have to 'fight' to get to it when deplaning. Not 'really' a problem.
  19. Sounds a right biatch at Immigration. Probably on a power trip. I'd likely go to different IO and ask questions. As the stamp says 9 May then that's when she has to be out by. What does the extra paper say? I hate when they force you to sign something that's not in your native language. That's just wrong. Who knows what it says. Or go see a visa agent... They probably have come across this before. They give a lot of advise for free too.
  20. Cheers for that.... I was thinking second hand as in used, not new!
  21. Back in the mid to late 80s, several Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) in the NZ Army were pushing creatine. Mostly for those doing weight training but was available to anyone. Can't remember the costs from back then but it wasn't expensive.
  22. I don't understand the meaning of this post, can someone please enlighten me.
  23. Initially he said he slipped... So he was aiming for her head? Guilty as charged your honour.
  24. If you drive at whatever speed you feel like, then you are a total idiot. Maybe one day you'll become a statistic like all the other idiots that think they own the road. The fact you don't pay speeding tickets further emphasises your lack of understanding of what rules and regulations mean. Don't come crying when some speed freak takes you out. I only hope others don't suffer from your apparent 'give a damn' attitude.
