  1. How would increasing the height of the building be any approach to addressing its tilting?

    I obviously missed something.

Something is lost in translation I think, but there is a way to jack a building like that up and level it. It is then held in place by new steel literally screwed into the ground. They are called helical piers. That steel would remind you of a very large post hole auger for a tractor. They use a bunch of them, and after they are literally screwed deep into the ground, they lift and permanently hold the building.

There is another similar method using jacks that stay in the ground. They are called push piers.

In the UK it is called under pinning?

  2. Hmmmm!...

Looks like a good 1st April joke, doesn't it?

But if this piece of interesting info is genuine, maybe we could suggest a few refinements:

    - to get the drivers familiar with the new rule, we could do it gradually. On even dates, the cars wearing a registration plate with an even number would drive on the right side, and on uneven dates, the cars wearing a registration plate with an even number would get their turn,

    - taxi and buses drivers, being professionals, would be exempted of this training, and would directly drive on the new side (or the old one, depending on what they find the most convenient),

    - once all surviving drivers would have been used to the new rule, they would get their car refurbished, thanks to the special rates negociated by Khun Thaksin by the Government with the car makers. Those who plan to drive to other countries, such as Malaysia or Singapore, might ask for an option, with a detachable steering wheel, which they can adapt on either side with a simple scratch system.

Does it look to make sense?

    Enjoy your 1st April!!!

PS: any suggestion for the motorbikes?

Yes motorbikes are also changing to left hand drive.

  3. Thai investors are buying USD because they know the strength of THB is false and the ecomomy will fall apart in less than 12 months.

    How do you know this?

Btw Im not being argumentative, my money comes in USD so I would personally like to see the baht weaken a little

Yes we have been hearing about the Thai economy collapsing for around the last 4 years now. Keeps getting stronger.

I am the same would like to see it slip some.

  4. Based on that chart from Road Safety & Nat'l Police, the safest vehicle you can drive in Thailand is a Farm Truck. I've always wanted one of these, now it's confirmed:

The safest form of transport. Hmmm. Maybe, until you are on a very dark country road and one comes past you, going in the opposite direction. And you didn't even see it until it was level with you (no lights) This has happened to me. Nearly 5hit myself.

  5. I will sound like a total stupid guy but for months now on my phone and even Ipad I can see the sign 3G on my screen. Does it mean it exist already in Bangkok ? I am lost .

Bangkok and several other Cities have 3G already but in most of the country you can only get EDGE (2G)

Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa app

Not all of Bangkok is covered. Those that are, still are not covered by all servers. I can get true 3G in Most areas of Dokmai, But Dtac & AIS forget it.

  6. Two gas tanks fitted inside the van? What kind of idiot would do this?

Hard to believe anyone could first fit gas tanks inside the vehicle and second operate such a death trap.

The owner of the vehicle and the installer of the fuel system should be sued for everything.

We have Sawngthaew where we live (bang-Na) That have the gas tanks fitted under the bench seats?

S'pose Jamaica had a dream, they got themselves a bobsleigh team laugh.png

why shouldn't Thailand get a new hub of skiing dream on the go.

(oh the negativity from me this morning)

Ill be watching her performance/ lycra suit if she makes it.

    Best of luck

Britain had a ski Jumper. Soared like a brick. But can't knock him, far more bottle than me.

  8. Nisa takes the counterview on many threads and then never lets it go. He has no facts. Perhaps he is training for a debating competition. He must have the last word. This thread is like many others he contributes to.

As I have said to him before, There are none so blind as they who will not see?

He just loves to bait, then reel people in. It did take a little time on this thread, but he succeeded in the end.

Not sure of your point, Bernie owns Paul Ricard…….

He also intends to take F1 back there soon

Maybe he will use Bangkok's money to bring it up to his standards.
