  1. Hi,

I came over last year, with Eva, flying out of Heathrow. When I got to the checking desk they were not going to let me board without an onward ticket, I told them that Travel Centre, did infact phone Eva to make sure before booking. They got on the phoneand all was ok. Some anxious moments. It is worth asking when you book your flight. Just for peace of mind. I have an Non Imm O retirment Visa.

    Best wishes. jb1

  2. Hi Guys,

Thanks for your replies. I will be applying on the basis of 800,000 in Thai bank. Which has been in place since I first applied for retirment visa last year. So do I read correct that I do not need letter from British Embassy, for proof of income. As this would be difficult as I am not in reciept of a pension.

My girlfriend said that the guy did ask for letter from UK Embassy + letter from Thai Bank. Sorry if I am being a pain, but if I can I am trying to avoid an unnecessary trip to Bangkok.

    Cheers jb1

  3. Hi All,

My Non Immigration O retirment Visa expires on 25 March. As i was at Immigration today in Korat for 90 days stamp, I asked the guy what I needed to do to get a 1year extention. He said that I would need to go to my Embassy in Bangkok to get a letter?

My question is can anyone tell me what papers are required for extention. Also when would I need to apply.

    Cheers jb1

  4. Having lived in a Village in Korat for the last year. I am not suprised that food poisoning is becoming a major problem. It is prepared outside using unclean utensils, on unclean surfaces and when ready is laid out uncovered. The only time that a fly is swept away is when it is sitting on a piece of food that someone want to eat. I think even if the schools started a food hygine programe now , it would take at least two generations for it to have any affect. Having said that, I am quite selective of what I eat and I do drink the rain water. But have never had any problems.

  5. Hi all,

I live near Chuam Phung a little town in korat province. I went to the local Amphur Office today, with girlfriend, her father and the local council chief from our village. Hoping to get the yellow book. Only to be told that as I am not married, it is not possible for me to obtain. I was under the impression that you did not have to be married to be able to get yellow book. Does anyone know the answer married or not?

I have looked in the Yellow Tabien Bahn Thread but could not find the answer.

    Hi,

We went past the scene, shortly after it happened. It was on a crossing in Lam Plai Mat. The driver of the Bus was a woman. She aparrantly had an argument with her husband so she decided to drive the Bus. She had her young daughter in the cab with her, which was completly ripped from the chasis, taking the full impact of the train. When she tried to jump the barrier as it was coming down. She and her daughter were killed instantly. The passanger part of the bus was thrown about 20 meters down the track killing the seven + we are told 23 injured many with loss of limbs. As far as I can make out they were all aged from 4 to 5 yrs. A truly terrible incident

  8. For the last week, every time I want to go back to a previous page the command is not accepted.

The green 'back' button works on every other sire but not Thaivisa.

I am also getting, only on Thaivisa, in the spaces on the page where adverts would be the 'cannot be displayed' notice.

    Seems very strange to me.

Is it the site or my computer?

I am getting the same problem. Using IE, think i'll take a look at firefox.

    Hello girlx,

Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried Hipster and it's ok. I think I will have to take a better look at Annoy later. Couldn't find the Xmas section. It looks like a cool site though.

  11. Bus loads of police left Sisaket in a large convoy, heading for Bkk, this morning. If this is happening through throughout the region, there should be a massive police pesence in the city by tomorrow.

    Why Sisaket?

Sisaket is far away and in Isaan country. Isn't that where the Thaksin loyalists all live?

Maybe that means they will be willing to do something against the yellow shirts.

What's wrong with police forces from neighbouring cities?

One could assume that these are border police and likely to be more willing to fight with BKK women and children.

    Hi

My Girlfriends brother is a cop in Surin. He was sent to Bangkok on Friday. I know for sure he would rather be with us cutting rice right now.

  12. Hi All

On reading this thread, I think most people feel the same and are spot on. I live here in Thailand and want to stay. But the currnt exchange rate is not helping. I am running out of usable funds in the bank, with the rate as it now is I'm not keen on trsnsfering sterling to baht.

Does anyone know Ms Phornsiri Manoharn's Email address. Maybe she should read this thread. It's not just about tourists is it? It also concerns Expats. I have freinds in the uk, who I would like to come and visit. Some who would like to come over are thinking again, not just because of the exchange, also because of the current economic climate back home. Oh well at least we have plenty of rice.

    Cheers jb1
