  1. The Parklands on Bangna Trat has a English restaurant, that serves good food and always has farangs drinking in there. Roast Beef or Pork dinner is 260b. Many other dishes, has a pool table and has Premiership football on at the weekends, it's an outside bar on the top floor about 300 meters past Central Bangna.

    PArklands also has a small pub too.

    Is that 300m past Central (and then Big C) going towards Trat and on the same side of the road? I've looked for a bar within range of the Avana Hotel a few times and only found the rather grotty, make-shift karaoke bars on the main road.

    To get to The Parkland, drive past Central Bangna and Big C and go straight until you see a newly opened huge Index furniture shop. Turn left into the soi before you reach Index, same soi as International Community School. The Parkland will be right infront of you when you turn in. There are 13 yellow buildings which belong to The Parkland and a main community building in the center, and on the rooftop is where the restaurant/bar you're looking for is. The place overlooks the swimming pool and is open until quite late, enjoy!

    Thanks cwldanny,

    You answered two questions in one. I have also been looking for somewhere to swim. Having just moved here, I am finding that trying to follow directions a bit difficult. But I do know where you are talking about is.

  2. Hi All,

    I recently posted a topic, requesting advice about swimming pools in the Bang Na area, with some useful replies.

    My next question is. Does anyone know of anywhere that expats go to meet up? Iwould be grateful for any repies, as the area where I am living seems to be only Thai. Cheers.

  3. Hi,

    I have recently moved to Bang Na district. Nirun Residence. They recently drained the swimming Pool for repairs? Does anyone know of a good outdoor swimming pool in the area? If not outdoor, an indoor pool would be ok.

    Cheers jb1

  4. I've posted this before on other forums.

    Average Monthly expenses

    Room = 4000 baht

    Food = 6000 baht

    Transportation = 2000 baht to 6000 baht depending on where I travel in Thailand.

    Ladies = 16,000

    Bar bill and incidentals = 15,000

    Total of about 56,000 baht

    I could cut out some of the ladies and most of the bar bills (made up of mostly buying lady drinks for my friends) and I could live well under the 40,000 baht limit. I could cut down on the food costs, but I eat western food occasionally.

    I can afford to pay more and still live within my budget, But I enjoy life and spoil myself while I still can.

    It's still cheaper than living at home in Canada where I have to lead a monogamous lifestyle.

    I like your post. Totally aggree.

  5. Enjoylife! You said it yourself mate, you’re not ready to settle down, what happened to the dream? You say you love the girl, I’m sure you do, but do you love her family, because now you’ve meet them your there pet farang, a little low down on the pecking order, probably just above the dog. Just remember why the daughter left the family home to start with; it was to bring home the bacon. and that isn't to say she doesn't love you. You will be dealing with a completely different mind set to your own; you will be expected to pay for everything from a rice cooker to a new rubber hip for an Auntie that’s been dead for 2 years. The fact that you’re asking some of theses questions! I don’t think you stand a chance. Hit the road! Get on with your life.

    As cynical as some of the answers you receive will be, take note there’s truth in most of them. All the best in your traveling.

    Hi

    100% aggree. TIT

  6. How can men ever understand the vanity of a woman???

    If beautification is their hobby then it beats the heck out of some alternatives.

    If boobs are a concern and you wear the pads I prefer for her to get the boob job.

    The jaw surgery (implants)makes an uglier face, the nose surgery some times work, fake braces <deleted>, butt implants can go over board but dam_n sexy with a great pair of legs, the whitner is too Michael Jackson for me.

    And stop getting tatoos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty girl, one day you wil grow old. Tramp stamps I use to work as a butterfly.

    Butt Implants? That is one thing they don't need over here. They are Soooo cute!

  7. If the padded bra makes them feel more confident then fair enough. Most women associate our breasts as being feminine and womanly, so often smaller chested girls will feel lacking and embarrassed. More fool the guys who may date a smaller framed slender girl and still expect a real ample chest. It does happen, but not often. Im sure she wishes parts of your body was up to scratch too when the clothes come off too. :)

    Great answer!!!!!

  8. We have no children, thankfully. She is also 10 years older than me if that makes any difference.

    It's pretty stressful.

    You married a woman 10 years OLDER than you? That's got to be a rare case here. Sorry to say, but from all I have seen here, I would not touch marriage with ANY of these women. Unless you want to take them back home and you have no other options, I can see why some guys do. To live in Thailand with one? Not necessary.

    Agree with you totally, a2396. I really love my new g/f but would not marry her. Why end a good relationship?

  9. Lets all be honest here, some of you are as bad as those in the village, why the need for private detective work? What this girl does in her life is none of anbody's bloody business. Let her get on with her life, she seems nice let her be. Most of the young girls at Uni in Bangkok earn 30k per month as hookers at night. What she does is up to her you will never stop the elders in the village having a good gossip.

    Well said Tigs!

  10. Had nearly two years of village life, driving me crazy. Loud speakers, chickens+ pa system, local barber and his mates getting pisse-d playing music. Give me the peace and quiet of a large city any day. Moving out soon!!!

    Having said that, I have made some good friends here. Really nice people. Would be sad if I never got to see them again. Aaaaagh

  11. Hi, Went to our local Amphur, with village head man, girlfriend and her father, with the blue book. Told them that we had come for yellow book, yes no problem, they asked for marriage certificate, told them not married. Ok no yellow book. Farang not married, make many problems. Head man steps in, has his say. Still no yellow book. TIT

  12. I don't understand the philosophy, bordering on paranoia in the constraints imposed on both land ownership and the operation of businesses by foreigners in Thailand. My perception is we are now working globally and this has been strongly advocated by all the World Leaders during all their meetings during the recession. They all shouted from the roof-tops, "don't start operating exclusions.

    And I believe Thailands Prime Minister was at some of these meetings?????????????????????????????????

  13. Hi Most of fast food is laced with Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) or In thai Choo-rot. That is the cause of Hypertension. I myself stay away from it as much as possible. The street venders load their food with it, some even put it on the table as a condiment.
