  1. The legal requirement is for the applicant to be the holder of a Non-Immigrant visa and to have a residential address confirmed by his Embassy or Immigration.

That is what I had to show when I got my car & motorbike licences at Nang Rong less than 2 weeks ago. I got the residence certificate from Chok Chai Immigration Office.

Did you have to pay bt500 for that. Someone on another forum is saying that he had to pay bt500 + bt50 for postage as they had to apply to BKK for it?

This is Chok Chai, he was talking about

  2. Hi All,

I have just been looking at a Thai Immagration web site and noticed, that if you leave the province, in which you are registered for longer than 24hrs, you should report to Police in the province that you are staying. Does anyone do this? I haven't in the past. Although if it is necessary I will in the future. Am going from Khorat to Chaing Mia for Christmas.

  3. There is no extension of stay for GF so you would need the same next year as this year I suspect. You do not say where you are so can not confirm local office has mail ability. No, you do not need a GF to do a 90 day report. A letter addressed to you, a lease, or such should be all that is required - and in many cases nothing is asked.

    Thanks Lopburi3,

Sorry might not have made my question to clear. I was not asking of extention of stay for g/f, as she is Thai. I seem to remember that, she had to show her ID for either 90 day report or visa extention. But can not really remember! I do not have a lease. As I said I do have a Thai driving licence, + I do have a letter from Immigration addressed to me, Informing me of change of address (Khorat) The reason for these questions is that we are splitting up. Ido intend to keep the address i have now as my permanent address. It is a house that I had built. Which I will be leaving my g/f with?

  4. Hi,

My question is. Can I do the 90 day report, without G/F? Do I need proof of address? If so would a Thai driving licence be enough, as I don't have a yellow book. I also have x2 Thai bank accounts. I do intend to travel in Thailand next year. Can I do 90day report by post. Reading other posts there does seem to be some confusion on this. The take I have on it is that it can be done, at my normal Immigration office.

My extention of visa is due in April next year. Can this be done by myself, without g/f. What documents would I need.

Is there an official website that I could find this information, to print off?

I would be grateful of any help, on this.

  5. Hi I have just returned to Thailand after a month in the UK. The advice I am looking for is does the 90 days stamp start from when I re entered on my return, or do I still have to report to Immigration 90 days from my last Immigration report.

I am sure this question has been aked before. But thought I would ask to save me looking through past posts. Sorry I am being lazy I know.

    Cheers jb1

  6. I have the AIS 30 hours for 99baht. Dial *777*77# when I need to top up. (think this is new).

    Hi bkkmick,

When you say you dial to top up when needed. Do you first need to put put time on your sim. To make payment?

    Cheers jb1

  7. Hi,

I also would like to say congratulations to Mary-Jane and Richard. It would appear that all your hard work has paid off. Well done.

Just one thing worries me. Does anyone know what life in prison in Thailand means, as in does it really mean life, or is it for a fixed period? I am sure for example in the UK. Life is 15years.

Once again well done you are both STARS.

  8. Hi,

Can anyone help me? I am going back to the UK for four weeks in September.

I am hoping to fly Air Asia. Bangkok to Kaula Lumpur then UK.

My question is. I want to stop off in K/L for a couple of days. Will I need to apply for a Visa for Malaya, to do this and if so what is the procedure. I have never done this before. Thanks for any help.

  9. Hi All,

I am still looking for an alternative to TOT ipstar. I was in the Mall (Korat) yesterday and was shown an Phone one 3GE500 hsdpa modem. Does anyone have any updated info of this system or have any experience of it? ie does it have nationwide coverage yet. As this does look to be an viable option? I have looked into the possibility of CAT cdma. But cannot get a signal in my area, so they tell me! The only info I can find on TV, is from the beginning of 2008. Would be grateful of any help. Cheers

Hi, as far as I am aware the only current location's where 3G is in use / under test , are in Bangkok and Chiang Mai , I am not an expert on this subject -- so hopefully some one else can step in with a bit more info.

    TL :)

BKK True, AIS has a small trial in Chiangmai ( i believe 900 Mhz ). AIS will not roll out until they get the desired frequency ( 900 is not desired for 3G ).

I use 3G alot in down town bangkok, love it, but unless you live smack on the main road on Sukhumvit, or a few other area's where its available ...... forget it. Not sure True can or wil roll out in other places ( licensing )

There wont be nationwide roll outs for a looooooong time until the full license come out which has been a real joke ( NTC ) (short answer is - when the NTC / govt get off their butt, and provide licenses as is the case in Vietnam / Malaysia and other countries in the regions - you will see 3G service in the bigger cities / towns( not in the country side for a long long time i believe ))

Hi, I wonder why the OP , was given info on 3G when he lives in the Nakhonratchsima area .

    TL :D

Yes curious that thailife. As it was not a sales pitch, from the phne shop in the Mall (Korat) But from someone from AIS. They asked me if I had my laptop with me. When I told them that I did, I was told to go and buy the 3ge500 modem (Which the shop had in stock) and they would talk me through the installation?????? I thought better to try and get more info first.

    Cheers jb1

  11. You could get the airport bus (if it goes there?) to Victory Monument and then get a minibus for 200baht from just outside Century Plaza, which is a 5minute walk from Victory Monument. The minibus only takes about 2hours to get to HH :)
I was about to say the same. Might depend on what time you are arriving. As I don't think the minibus service runs all night. Might stop around 6or8pm. Not sure.jb1
  12. Hi. Looking for advice. My TOT ipstar contract runs out soon. I live in a village, in Korat. We do not have the option of a landline.

As someone decided to rip out the cable for scrap? Can anyone tell me the best option for getting an Internet connection. Any repies in laymans terms please. I am a bit of a techno-phobe. Cheers
