  1. Well done Noi. So brave. I hope your niece can find a way to recover from this terrible situation.
  2. Not interested in arguing on this, but I thought they were. A quick look on the European Parliament website confirms they were. Maybe a semantic thing, but if you can could you explain your comment? The United Kingdom (UK) joined the European Union in 1973, having maintained a long-standing relationship with the bloc since its founding. In 2016, following a referendum, it became the first Member State to end its EU membership. The last part of the copied text is why I think they were. From this web site - https://www.europarl.europa.eu/factsheets/en/sheet/216/the-united-kingdom
  3. Why not let GB back in? That should help accelerate the collapse…
  4. I'm based in Hong Kong, and pay for it using an HK card. I travel a lot and my account never has any issues.
  5. I reckon the captioned from the OP means you don't need to. Anywhere with an Internet connection, and as long as you have all the right info to upload you should be okay. The eVisa system ought to be able to 'read' your IP address so will know you are in-country, in Vietnam, therefore eligible to apply through the system based in Hanoi or HCM.
  6. Well done to the attendant and the responders for resolving this without injury. A good news story.
  7. I know it's against the law, but surely if Thais don't want to do this job how can this be illegal?
  8. They did the right thing, running to someone they thought they could trust to help. Sad.
  9. Amazing. She's got a story to tell her child when he or she gets older!
  10. Oh! I was told that the word gullible had been removed from the dictionary. I believed them! Was that a conspiracy? 😬
  11. How come they got a Police escort? I assume that was paid for.
  12. Okay, that's Day 1. How many therapies on day 2? 😜😇
  13. The timing of the release of this book, right in the middle of the Presidential campaign, is absolutely stunning to me. I guess she'll be voting for Kamala?
  14. I wonder... Many of you may not have heard of a certain UK politician who caused a bit of a stir during an outbreak of what was called 'Mad Cow Disease'? This is him - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Gummer. What he did, in 1990, was to try to feed a burger to his 4 year old daughter to try to reassure the British public that British beef was safe. Of course it was not. What it led to is people dying of Creutz-feldt-Jakob disease (vCJD). The sad thing is that John Gummer daughter subsequently died of this - article here - https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2007/oct/12/uk.bse. The point of this is I'm wondering whether all Thai politicians and their families should made to travel round Thailand on these types of buses, rather than private helicopters or modern and well maintained vehicles, so that they can feel what's it's like? Take the same risks that the majority of the Thai population? Think that might help focus minds?
  15. Yeah, get that. But I still add N Korea, China and Iran into the Russian side of this, and of course UK, Germany and a plethora of others on the US side.
  16. Not about to disagree with you. But I live in hope. “It's not the despair. I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand”. Apparently a quote by Peter Ustinov, or might have been Ted Lasso.

  18. Fair question. It is weapon supply, similar to how some western countries are supporting Ukraine. Could have mentioned China too (https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2024/04/29/who-is-supplying-russias-arms-industry - full story behind a pay-wall but hope you'll get the drift). 19. Same all over the world. I'm British; had Conservative broken promises and hypocrisy for 14 years. Now we've had Labour for 3 months, the hypocrisy has already started and promises already looking doomed.
  20. No matter what happens, the sex industry will continue. Legal, decriminalised or illegal. For me, I'd have thought the Government might like the extra tax revenue.
  21. Dang, and I was going to apply. Not sure I could live on a weekly income of 101 Baht though. Who would give me that odd 1 Baht? All of them!
  22. The Wiki article on Santika is hard reading. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santika_Club_fire
