Melania Trump Advocates for Abortion Rights in New Memoir

The timing of the release of this book, right in the middle of the Presidential campaign, is absolutely stunning to me. I guess she'll be voting for Kamala? -
I wonder... Many of you may not have heard of a certain UK politician who caused a bit of a stir during an outbreak of what was called 'Mad Cow Disease'? This is him - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Gummer. What he did, in 1990, was to try to feed a burger to his 4 year old daughter to try to reassure the British public that British beef was safe. Of course it was not. What it led to is people dying of Creutz-feldt-Jakob disease (vCJD). The sad thing is that John Gummer daughter subsequently died of this - article here - https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2007/oct/12/uk.bse. The point of this is I'm wondering whether all Thai politicians and their families should made to travel round Thailand on these types of buses, rather than private helicopters or modern and well maintained vehicles, so that they can feel what's it's like? Take the same risks that the majority of the Thai population? Think that might help focus minds?

Fair question. It is weapon supply, similar to how some western countries are supporting Ukraine. Could have mentioned China too (https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2024/04/29/who-is-supplying-russias-arms-industry - full story behind a pay-wall but hope you'll get the drift). Some links to stories below, including some from Al Jazeera for balance. https://www.defense.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/Article/3901774/iran-gives-russia-short-range-missiles-while-us-partners-expect-to-keep-bolster/#:~:text=Cooperation Services Launch-,Iran Gives Russia Short-Range Missiles%2C While U.S.%2C Partners,Keep Bolstering Ukrainian Air Defense&text=The United States has confirmed, range ballistic missiles to Russia. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1944801589321570 https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/9/11/is-iran-supplying-ballistic-missiles-to-russia-for-the-ukraine-war https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/9/9/russia-brands-iran-important-partner-amid-reports-of-missile-supplies https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-iran-ballistic-missiles-supply-ukraine/33112977.html https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/2/28/n-korea-sent-russia-millions-of-munitions-in-exchange-for-food-says-seoul

Dang, and I was going to apply. Not sure I could live on a weekly income of 101 Baht though. Who would give me that odd 1 Baht? All of them!

Well said. The culture of a country comes from its leadership. I hope she is able to get this implemented and hold to account those who stop or delay this happening. But, of course, TIT, but maybe this time some change might actually happen?

This isn't wholly true. All of this has been bubbling since the late 1940s, with peaks and troughs of craziness since then. Yeah, Hammas triggered the latest Israeli retaliation in Gaza, no doubting that. There are people on both sides of this latest flare up who have committed war crimes and should be held to account. I don't even know whose fault all of this is. That debate would like just go round in circles, so I'm not going there. To slightly echo an earlier post, as a child my parents told me 2 wrings don't make a right. With the Israelis and their neighbours it is more like tens of thousands of wrongs, and I don't know when that cycle will ever end. I'm just sad for the vast majority of people in that whole region who just want to live their lives in safety.

I wonder if elsewhere in BJ's memoir he'll come clean about his gross negligence in his handling of COVID that directly led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people? Or about all of the obscene corruption that happened during that time? Or how many illegal parties he actually had during that time? I won't be bothering to buy the memoir to find out of course.

Cement Truck Driver Killed in Construction Site Accident in Phuket

How could the driver possibly know that the ground was unstable and may collapse? The driver should reasonably expect the site to be safe for him to deliver, and clearly it was not. In many countries the person accountable for the site may face manslaughter or other criminal charges for this, with the main contractor banned from bidding on any further construction contracts for a period of time. The driver would not be blamed at all (based on the info provided in the article).
