  1. It's okay, they can use the Grand Hotel as a hostel. Only by the hour mind you...
  2. Well said. But funny you should say it, I'm a Brit and went to a well know Spanish island a few years ago, to probably the 2nd most popular town. I tried, and I tried and I tried to find a Spanish restaurant serving local food. Failed. All I found was German, British, Swedish, and Indian. A few others. Some had Spanish dishes on the menu. But I could not find a Spanish restaurant run by a Spaniard. Sad. Obviously couldn't cover 100% of the town in a long weekend. No such issue in Greece, where most seemed to be Greek-run. Yeah some swerving Brit/German/Russian food, but most serving top quality Greek food.
  3. Thanks - made me look for the UK one. Here it is - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/thailand-tax-treaties Looks like income tax is covered, and has been since 1981. Resident in Thailand, not in UK. Don't pay UK income tax but pay Thai income tax. Except Thailand has not been charging income tax till now. I've only done a very quick read and I probably have misunderstood, but might be good if someone else reads it who has better knowledge than me. I am UK person, not resident in UK (currently Hong Kong, but proactively looking at my options), no income in UK. Income in Hong Kong taxed by Hong Kong IRD (much less tax than in UK).
  4. Can all stop being so rude about Andy Pandy? I've asked him, and he doesn't want to be associated with Soi 6.🤪
  5. Was it Swiss Dave in disguise?
  6. Surely there can't be any corruption? I'll get my coat... 🤭
  7. The Aussie Liberal Party didn't get around to registering more than 100 Liberal Party candidates in NSW, meaning around 50 serving politicians automatically lose their livelihood. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly84x8rejjo https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-08-15/nsw-liberal-party-shields-resign-council-election-nominations/104227072 Can anyone think of a bigger screw up in the history of politics? I don't think electing Obama, Trump or Boris Johnson should be included.
  8. Anyone fancy meeting up for breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon beer, dinner and nighttime beer every day for the next few days? I reckon around Victory Monument in Bangers should be the best place... Ought to be quiet and peaceful... Just like 2006 and 2014...
  9. Reminds me of some of the a$$holes in the UK overturning cars in the recent riots. I got much, much more respect for that elephant though.
  10. Polarized as ever. Is there any balance out there in keyboard warrior-land? Don't expect it from me by the way...
  11. They can steal some more bikes to help pay them back.
  12. Might still be cleaner than the Seine?
  13. And the mental health harm of joining in Forums like this? 🤪
  14. Maybe the project forgot to include the need for any risk assessments?
  15. In Hong Kong in 2020, during the not so peaceful protests and the start of COVID, face coverings were both mandatory and illegal at the same time. The bit in quotes above were true there too.
  16. I wonder if the Grand Hotel signposted in the photo has family rooms?
  17. I reckon Windsor Davies in the classic British sitcom 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' summed it up quite well...
  18. Whilst I've got no problem with these people getting jail time, I find it a bit odd that UK politicians criticise the Hong Kong Government for introducing laws that could jail peaceful protestors, whilst doing exactly the same themselves.
  19. Was he accountable for the 0.59 point shortfall in the Pattaya City anti-corruption assessment score?
  20. 1100010101010010101010010101101010100010101010101011010010101001010101010010101010011111
  21. And still plenty of corruption.
