  1. Mine was 25,000 baht in them days 2002, based on married to Thai national, but had to have 10 years non stop O Imm. of stay.

After that, it was this first time in 17 years that they lifted the fee btw, and cut the waiting time also.

Now days it is only 3 years and then you can apply.

However, the Dems do not give out PR's by the way, as we all have seen.

and if the army calms things down and organizes elections (or at least moves things along so the EC gets the elections organized) in a reasonably expeditious timeframe, then I think thailand will mostly be very happy. Time to wait and see.

And together with the "reform package" which "Southern Mob" side has not detailed AT ALL.

Dems were in power and did nothing about these, close kept secrets about "reform package" are they then?

Come on all of you Dems and tell us the "reform package" and then lets put it to a VOTE, then, Thailand as the poster that I quoted said

Phra Buddha Isara urges Suthep to be patient

BANGKOK: -- Phra Buddha Isara, the leader of anti-government rally at the Government Complex, Monday urged Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee, to be patient and hang on for the fight.

The monk said Suthep should not rush to try to win the game as he has announced.

Suthep said if he fails to have the caretaker Cabiner resign by May 26, he would surrender to police on May 27.

The monk said Suthep should continue the PDRC-led rally until the people become fed up with the government and the people would come out to demand the government to resign.

The monk said the rally could continue for over a year.

So his only worry is for himself in that he may be held responsible for violating the law.

No concern at all for the country

It could be that he may also violate the law if he stays as it has been suggested he has no mandate to sign a royal decree to hold an election..

and please show us all why

  6. Hi Derek,

Both of you come to Kan 2 days or more before due date.

Rent a driver and car/pick-up from were the Blue and White Bus 81 to Bangkok starts from, in the center of town opposite the Main Police Station. How much to rent a driver and car/pick-up in Kan, I have no idea as I drive my own car, so ask around.

Ask them to take you to the boarder.

It was still 900 baht from the boarder there via a van that will take your friend there and back. 30 mins later, whilst you stay on the Thai side if you do not have to make the crossing.

Please read post #20 by Bakseeda

and my post #21 how to get there by Car.

    Hope this is helpful all.thumbsup.gif

One of the biggest problems Thailand has is its repeated failure to take out the shin clan and this ridiculous scenario where people ask what will Taksin do next, until he is taken out of the storyline by whatever means necessary then the saga will continue and the country will carry on in its self destructive direction.

While I do not discount Taksin's status currently, I do not think without him we would witness a return to pre-Taksin politics. For all his faults he awakened the majority poor to vote and demand attention to their problems. Perception is critical, he is perceived as having done more than previous leaders. Thus he raised expectations. The genie will not be put back in the bottle. Some will denounce "populist" policies but responding to the needs of the people is critical if you do not want a continuation of the current status.

    +1

Sorry, but ran out of me "likes" today.

Good post and thank you very much. wai.gif

Is anyone really surprised by this pre-determined decision? I doubt it. Now it's just a matter of who will be next in to lead the govt until the election

I think Abhisit would be a good choice, as it would enable him to oversee his reform proposal.

And then no more PR's issued for another few years like when the Dems were in power. At least the last folks in power did issue them as they were not anti non thais.

A very sad day for all that have applied for their PR.

You could also take the bus to Suphanburi and avoid BKK. From there next bus towards Nakon Sawan.

But, Kanchanaburi from Sukhothai, as the OP asked, pray tell us all mike2011, why go back up north to Nakon Sawan.???????????????blink.png when you are in Suphanburi and catch a bus to Kan on the 324 road 100 kms from there. coffee1.gif

I have been an advisor to the Democrat Party leaders in the past and also a friend of Suthep, I am therefore definitely not pro-red shirt.

The problem is that the PDRC have shot themselves in the foot by not allowing elections to take place at the time that the Democrats could have defeated the Government in free and fair elections. Instead 6 months on the Thai economy has been severely damaged, whilst the Government opposition declares its umpteenth final showdown.

At the start in November, the Democrats had gained so much popular support that according to a survey gave them 37.2% of the vote against Pheu Thai at 28.2%. Had the PDRC not prevented people from voting the Democrats could have won the election! The latest poll in March shows that the Government support is virtually unchanged, however the Democrats support has dropped severely to 20.3% against PT's 27%. The majority of Thai people do not want anymore final pushes, final battles, or a final war. What the majority of Thai people want is an end to the demonstrations by both parties and a democratically held election followed by reforms.

Excuses me, the Dems elected not to take part in Feb 2nd election, therefore, how could they have won? blink.png
