  1. The dollar goes up because interest rates go up (unless there's a war when it goes up anyway). Interest rates go up because of of a need to calm inflation. The expectation of future inflation often causes these to rise as well.
  2. Which elected member of congress call it "gain of function"? The answer is either a name or none, which is it? And if you don't want to go there, what are names and qualifications of those who testified before congress that it was a gain of function leading to the coronavirus? hint: Fauci and the NIH, actual virologists, said it wasn't.
  3. Which person/s in congress labelled it "gain of function"? What virology qualifications did the person/s have?
  4. Capitalists say no. Dollar and 10year yields rocketing since Trump was elected. Big Bucks thinks he will bring inflation.
  5. It is a fact that in a potential employment pool of millions, such as plum govvy positions, there are any number of people eminently qualified to do the job and "most qualified" is generally code for picking people who are already entrenched in the system. Those people are more likely to be white males due to historical bias in the system. That the "most qualified" manta is nothing more than a talking point is amply demonstrated by Trump's cabinet picks. Suddenly, "best qualified" becomes a disposable slogan.
  6. I think he's still subject to this law https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/953
  7. Not gain of function. Why don't you listen to what Fauci said instead of a bunch of unqualified crackpots? Seems that qualifications and expertise aren't welcome in MAGA world.
  8. He is not a vaccine skeptic. He's a vaccine cynic. He doesn't have "doubts". While big pharma might keep some research secret it isn't because they know their products harm people and don't care. They aren't big tobacco. You conspiracy theorists believe any garbage you are told so long as it fits your world view.
  9. Yep, write off one of the top half dozen cities in the world because you don't like the mayor. I'm sure he's gonna do that. Maybe Trump might. I hope so actually, it'll just be another strike against him.
  10. They are mouth breathers, wasting precious oxygen.
  11. There was no "gain of function". An unrelated virus was not genetically modified to become the coronavirus.
  12. hmm. Musk. Competitive bidding process. .
  13. Show us how they've fallen in line. What a bunch of incel tripe.
  14. How many have you counted doing that? You'd have more respect for them if they acqiuesced to sex more often?
  15. My money is on Hegseth being in court for giving illegal orders within a year.
  16. The problem here is that the wingnuts at Fox News think they know better than the experts in the defense forces. Unfortunately, they are not the target audience and Fox knows it..
  17. President-elect Donald Trump’s choice of Tulsi Gabbard as U.S. intelligence chief has sent shockwaves through the national security establishment, adding to concerns that the sprawling intelligence community will become increasingly politicized. Trump’s nomination of Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman who lacks deep intelligence experience and is seen as soft on Russia and Syria, is among several high-level picks that suggest he may be prioritizing personal allegiance over competence as he assembles his second-term team. A Western security source said there could be an initial slowdown in intelligence sharing when Trump takes office in January that could potentially impact the “Five Eyes,” an intelligence alliance comprising the U.S., Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/spy-world-vexed-by-trump-choice-gabbard-us-intelligence-chief-2024-11-14/
  18. The Guardian's example will lead other corporations to withdraw their support and advertising, as well have already seen. Musk has previously thrown a whammy about that. He famously told them what they could do with themselves.
  19. In the United States, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Employers without DEI policies may inadvertently violate these laws, leading to lawsuits and significant financial liabilities.Walmart, Google, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs and Tesla have all been sued for discriminatory policies. --- Project 2025, a political initiative published by the Heritage Foundation aimed at promoting conservative policies, references DEI nearly 40 times. It declares “DEI is not” the law, and calls on the president to direct the Department of Justice and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to “enforce Title VII to prohibit racial classifications and quotas, including human-resources classifications and DEI trainings that promote critical race theory.” https://corpgov.law.harvard.edu/2024/09/18/litigation-targeting-large-company-dei-programs-on-the-rise/
  20. Another accusation confession. We are about to see so many politically motivated charges it will make heads spin, let alone keep up.
  21. There's a few senators who don't like Gaetz either. Here's one of them Pressure is building on the House Ethics Committee to release its findings on former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who President-elect Trump said he will nominate to be attorney general. “Mr. Gaetz’s likely nomination as Attorney General is a perverse development in a truly dark series of events. She was a high school student and there were witnesses,” Clune said in a post on the social platform X. https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4991569-gaetz-ethics-report-pressure/
  22. Doubtful. The Guardian is a serious publication.
  23. Cookie? More of a fruit cake. Billionaires holding non elected positions in non governemnt organizations exercising de facto control over the government is the very definition of the swamp.
