  1. brakes and tires are cheap, think of the rest! clutches, flywheels, gearboxes, engines!

rental is the best way to go.

there's a place called taki racing i think, they hire out their formula renault open wheel cars, not too cheap, but well worth it.

  2. could try on the rethai map to find something http://www.rethai.com/listings/maps?location=pattaya

I think view talay 2 is a bit on the cheap side, along with the apartments near the night markets on theppresit.

also, if you work on theppresit, if you drive towards the beach - just as you come down the small hill past the petrol stations, there's a crossroad on the corner of the new development, opposite the honda bike shop - used to be a kart track, hang a right there, there's lots of rooms for rent down that road, its a long strip, living along that strip would be easy access to most areas in pattaya...

  3. up and down sukhumvit there's a fair few gym gear places i've seen.

one on the corner of pattaya tai and sukhumvit comes to mind, i think there's 1-2 on threppersit road as well. the sports shops on the corner of theppresit has ropes and what not, and the sports shops in big c / central also have similar, but not sure on the free weights.

  4. check the local websites, http://www.rethai.com/ has a couple, agencies around might have more but it's a bit low for them...

best bet is to drive around and find the small 'condo / apartment' buildings (like 4-5 story high shophouses).

A friend of mine rented a half decent clean place on Soi Boukao for 6k a month... only problem with places like that is they put on 100%+ for electricity (so if you use 2k a month, they'll bill you 4k).

on the darksite (East of the train tracks) you can get a small house (1-2 room) for 4-6k unfurnished, 6-8 furnished, but the upside is electric and water you pay the government direct, so the extra 1-2k you'd be saving in electricity you're paying in rent.

try to find a place where you can pay electric gov direct, otherwise they'll charge you whatever they want for it. even make up fake numbers to make the extra money.

  5. Yeah i'm also keen on supersports, i want to see the f1 and gp2 sessions, but only super sport broadcast the practice sessions and the gp2.

does anyone know any other providers that offer motorsport like supersport do?

  6. i like the open air concept.

i think their issue is the lack of drawcards.

cinema, villa market, and a gym are a good foundation, need need to fill that 2nd floor with restaurants or something that people will go out of their way to get to.

there's just not enough reason to go there over another place.

as much as i like the open air style, i think the design is bad, the actual shopfronts are hidden way at the back and around corners, could have been a better design and still keeping in with open air.

Australia does it well, some of the biggest shopping centers in australia are all 70/30 open air and are very popular.

but who knows eh? everyone's an expert...

  7. yeah the 5 mins of fame are running low, but there's always new people coming to pattaya and new people to discover him, so a new 5 mins of fame will come back around soon enough...

on the upside, this post unlike the other ramblings was at least half entertaining, i don't mind a bit of sarcasm in the morning :)

  8. they are probably private hiring because they dont know how the whole baht bus system works, just get on and go straight, get off at the next intersection and get the next bus going in your direction.

they probably ask the driver can they goto X location, rather than taking his 10b per person he says yeah, i'll take you there, bills them 200b.
