London to Bangkok Eva wins hands down. Better airline, better flights and always cheaper than Thai. I hope the people who normally fly Thai don't cotton on. I don't want Eva full of ex Thai passengers and not able to get a booking.

What was misinformed about inheritance tax. Previously a pension pot we excluded. It will in a year or two's time be included in the estate for inheritance tax and therefor be taxed at 40% if the estate exceeds the allowance. When the beneficiary draws the pension then 20% tax will be deducted. I suppose if they had no other income they can offset that against their allowance. A Thai person I assume would still have to pay the tax. What is incorrect about what I said?

Sounds like draw down. If it is draw down then the beneficiary gets the remaining pot. In the UK just be aware that Labour screwed that up. Cunning bastards get the tax twice. Take 40% inheritance tax then 20% when the spouse takes the pension. Save for a pension and under those circumstances the Government take 60%. Then they have the nerve to say workers aren't saving enough for their retirement. People would be saving enough if we weren't taxed up to the eyeballs.

I think you can only do weekly in extreme circumstances. I thought that you could. I applied for weekly but only got every 2 weeks.. Bad to hear that they took time after you didn't respond to the life check up. How often do they do it, every year?

To be pedantic, if you work and have PAYE deducted the employers contribution I think is what counts for the state pension. Self employed I don't think would get it, they have to make a voluntary contribution. Under the new rules it might be different. Any body working over retirement age there are no employer contributions for obvious reasons, you are already above retirement age.

This is the satellite view of Goggle maps. So assuming that Google has the border correct I don't see how you can get to the temple in a vehicle without crossing into Thai territory. If that is the border that that French drew up I can only guess that the surveyor sent the apprentice that day and he just thought what the hell and he just drew in curved line between two previously determined points without doing a proper survey.

And with respect I was going by Google maps. Of course who says the border on Google maps is correct. The road. or at least what is visible as a road, crosses the border. So based on what you say is Cambodia are claiming the road is in Cambodia, assuming it is the same road that I saw on the map then, I understand why the Thais are so p155ed.

Get the money in your account sooner not swelling the Government's bank account. I got fed up struggling as I neared the pension pay date so I now get it every 2 weeks.

Thailand did dispute it but it was some years after the agreement was made. I assume that Thailand trusted the colonial power France to know what is was doing. It is worth pointing out that the US Canada border has a error in it. If the US and Britain couldn't get the surveys right what chance Thailand. Now I vaguely know where this temple is and I assumed it was in some sort of a plain. It wasn't until somebody posted an aerial photo recently and saw it on a cliff edge did I go and look at the satellite view on Google maps. It sticks out like a sore thumb where the border is wrong. But I couldn't even see a way up to the temple from the Cambodian side unless you mountain climbed up the cliff face. The road switches from the Cambodian side to the Thai side and back again. The arbitration back on the 20s or 30s left it on the Cambodian side and now we have the ongoing dispute, If the French had sucked it up at the time and admit that they got it wrong and gifted the Temple to Siam may be we would be where we are now. Probably not though. What I am confused about though is on Google maps it shows the border. So where exactly is the disputed land. May be both sides should show where they occupy now, where there are still disputes and allow ordinary folk to understand.

I had to start reading this as I thought the numbers of passengers was 500 That was my first thought, a bit small to carry 500. I suppose that is why in engineering you say x quantity off or in building x quantity number to avoid confusion.

In whose territory was the Thai and in whose territory was the Cambodian. Why can't we just have some unbiased truth for a change. Surely it can't be that difficult to have the truth is it. This constant there other side started it mentality.

When you say citizens I take it you mean British. I wouldn't call 60% vast, barely more than 50/50. Did the report say that the focus was on foreigners? I assume each sexual assault is treated equally then if it is found that 40% are committed by foreigners then they is telling you something isn't it. If say a particular crime was predominantly young males you would be expected to target young males not retirees. As said East Europeans are white so why racist when arresting East Europeans for sexual assault. I am sure if 40% of sexual assaults or robberies in Thailand were foreigners then the Thai media would be all over it.
