  1. The UK hasn't recognised Palestine. Getting credit for something that they haven't done but might do if something else happens first. There again they might not.
  2. The billionaire backers to the CCP are the ones calling the shots.
  3. When they give back Tibet, stop border disputes with India and stop bullying the South China Sea nations then they cam mediate.
  4. I was thinking, the North Sea here in Britain is where England used to be joined to the continent. The Dogger Bank is shallow. Britain could pump dredged sand and create the island of Doggerland. We could build and air strip on Doggerland then claim sovereignty over the whole of the North Sea. We could then harass and bully Chinese ships sailing in UK waters. We could find some ancient map with a 9 dash line on it confirming that the North Sea was British.
  5. About ten miles from where I live is the ancient town of Verulamium. The people of St Albans must be dreading the Italian army arriving to re-occupy the city.
  6. hahahahaha Or may be writing the words Khmer or Cambodia. How much do I owe Hun Sen now?
  7. Yes Khmer temple built by a Khmer King therefore it is Cambodian sets a very worrying precedent. Europe, the Middle East and North Africa is littered with Roman remains. Romania is so Roman it is even in the name of the country.
  8. It was in the news. I read it on two different news sites.
  9. I was looking into this as I have one of those magnifying inspection lamps. Damned expensive to replace and the neon tubes as not available. Couldn't find a circular LED tube to fit. The unit already has an electronic ballast. My understanding you just wire the new LED tube to the on off switch. That is if I could find the right tube. If only the company made conversion kits.
  10. Better give him credit for the Korean war and two gulf wars as well then.
  11. Five? I can think of three including this one that Trump sorted out. What are the other two?
  12. They aren't arguing over the temple. They are arguing over the land surrounding temple. Also Chantaburi and Trat are nowhere near the temple but are in dispute also.
  13. I know how you feel. The lay out of AN does make it difficult some times to follow comments within a thread.
  14. Keep up. The previous posts. When was the last time a Thai PM was elected through an electoral process involving registered Thai voters in a Constitutional General Election and their respective majority political party choice for House ministers to elect the PM? A long time ago!! , as I understand it the PM does not even have to be an elected MP When are PMs elected by voters. Even in the UK voters have no say on who the PM is. In general they have As is the case in the UK. Although it has been a long time since there was an unelected PM. The closest we came was in 1940 when Lord Halifax nearly became PM. No they don't. When was the electorate asked if Teresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak, Gordon Brown, John Major were to be the country's PM. And before you chip in yes subsequently some of the above did actually hold a general election. The PM is selected by which ever party holds the most seats. Isn't that how Thailand does it? I will give even odds that Starmer is still the PM in four years time. End of chat. So in the UK since Tony Blair became PM only David Cameron actually stood in a General Election to become the PM. Yes Boris Johnson and Theresa May was voted by the Conservatives to become PM and he did subsequently stand in a general election. Just pointing out that in the UK the electorate does not does not choose the PM. Exactly the same as Thailand.
  15. It is actually a very long time since there was an unelected PM but in theory the party in power elects the PM and it doesn't have to be an MP. As far as I can see the last PM who wasn't an MP was Robert Gascoyne-Cecil 1895 to 1902. He had been PM twice before. He had been an MP at some time but when his father died who was a a Lord he inherited the title then he gave up being an MP. I think it is very unlikely that an unelected MP will ever be PM in the future but not impossible.
  16. Here is a question for the Cambodian supporters. As I understand it this is about the land surrounding the Preah Vihear temple and the aggresive encrouchment onto Cambodian territory by the totally unreasonable Thais (the Cambodian supporters view). So why is the border in Chantanaburi and Trat part of this cease fire?
  17. No they don't. When was the electorate asked if Teresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak, Gordon Brown, John Major were to be the country's PM. 20. South East Asia's answer to Monte Cassino. In terms of location.
  21. "In 2013, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) reaffirmed its 1962 ruling that the Preah Vihear Temple, located on the Cambodian-Thai border, belonged to Cambodia, following a request from Cambodia for clarification on the ruling. The 2013 ruling also addressed the extent of the temple's vicinity, stating it included the cliff on which the temple stood but not the surrounding area. This reaffirmation did not resolve the underlying border dispute, and tensions continued to simmer, leading to further clashes and requests for clarification from the ICJ" That seems absolutely crystal clear to me. The rights to the surrounding land has not been resolved.
  22. I thought that the judgement was purely about in whose territory the temple complex was. The dispute is all about the surrounding land that was not part of the court judgement. Is that correct? Wouldn't it be helpful to publish a few facts rather than people quoting one side or the other. Again I thought that the original agreement made with the French was that the border was the water shed. How difficult is it to determine where the water shed is?
  23. Cambodians, such peace loving people. I remember how the favoured method of execution of kidnapped Westerners was to bash their heads in with the spoke of a cart wheel. I wont bring up the 1.3 million. I am sure the ordinary Cambodians aren't like that though. Just the ones in power.
