  1. The account IS in my name only. That doesn't stop others from having access to it.
  2. The account IS in my name only.
  3. I solved the problem of that 800.000 Baht by simply putting my wife's name on the account and adding her signature to the passbook. I trust my wife. If I didn't, I wouldn't have married her.
  4. Cantoneses-style 'Shrimp with Lobster Sauce.' It's a very easy-to-make dish (there is no lobster in it, (It's the 'sauce' used for 'Lobster Cantonese,') inexpensive to make if you use smaller-sized shrimp, and absolutely delicious! If you want the recipe, message me. 🙂
  5. Shouldn't the recommendations be for repair shops in Japan? I recall that the OP told us he left Thailand and moved to Japan. Or was that just more of the same...
  6. Far LESS than perfect, and I'll explain why... Do NOT trust seller ratings. Many have been falsely raised. Here's how... Companies have been formed with the single purpose of raising the seller's feedback score, with fake purchases. Unfortunately, one of these companies has used my name and address, and I now have a large shopping bag full of dozens of small shipping envelopes from Lazada and Shopee, with junk I didn't order. The company hires people to make hundreds of small orders for items costing less than 5-10 baht; hair bands, plant ties, cheap barrettes, pins, etc. One order might contain just two plant twist-ties or two stickers... anything that costs less than a couple of baht. The employee might make 50, 100, or 200 orders at day to the same vendor using other people's addresses as recipients. The company pays for these orders, and the product goes to someone else (like me.) Then the employee fills out the feedback forms. 50, 100, 200 feedback forms for the same vendor, giving him high marks. Anyone want a big bag full of cheap junk? Didn't cost me anything, but nothing I can use.

I love the irony. People posting anonymously about people who post anonymously.
  8. Is there ANY place in Asia that does NOT bust noise levels? Historically, Asia is noisy. But Thailand seems to lead the pack, for unless two people conversing are sitting side by side with elbows touching, there seems to be a requirement to shout to each other at max volume when conversing. Would karaoke bars be any different just because of a new law?
  9. The level of anti-Semitism I see coming from some of you while you hide behind aliases blows me away. It's a shame you use screen names. The world should know who you are.
  10. I'd be content to eat sushi and sashimi 2-3 times a week... and did for the 15 years I lived and worked in Japan. I don't need a fancy sushi restaurant, just fresh ingredients. Here in Thailand, we keep our eyes open for sushi-grade tuna and salmon and have them for dinner at home often. I do miss the huge variety I would find in the Kaitenzushi places in my old neighborhood in Kyoto.
  11. The stationary store near the UN Irish Pub sells plaster and a few simple molds. You'll find it on the floor along the back wall on the second floor, just after the modeling clay.
  12. Christmas has very little to do with Christianity in many parts of the world. Some people say 'put Christianity back in Christmas.' I think we need to put Christianity back in Christians!
  13. When I needed an ambulance at 3am, my wife (non-Thai, speaks very little,) just called the nearest hospital and it arrived less than 10 minutes later. No problems. Cost ฿1,200.
  14. Please clarify, if you will... Are you unable to log into Shopee when you try shopee.co.th/? Or unable to log into the specific 'Shopee 12-12 Birthday Campaign' which seems to be available in Singapore and Malaysia only?
  15. Shopee-Thailand should be available to you in your region if you are in Thailand. I use it more often than Lazada.
  16. I have to admit... Mark Wein's reporting did get us to some of the most delicious meals. His recommendation for Moo Krub in Chiang Mai can't be beaten anywhere! Did he actually compliment Khao Soi Maisai?!? How odd!
  17. Have you eaten at Khao Soi Maisai in Santitham? Always huge crowds (virtually all tourists) outside at lunchtime. I've been told that it's now earned a Michelin star rating. I ate there once, a few years ago, but never went back for various reasons. Have you eaten there twice?
  18. Wow! Is this a new record? The thread turned nasty, complete with name-calling, and it hadn't even reached the end of the first page! Usually in this forum, it normally takes two pages.
  19. We rode it two weeks ago, and it was fine then. No road problems anywhere.
  20. Tried those and more. The computer does not recognize the Kindle as a drive. It DOES show up in the Device Manager (as a Kindle) and Disk Manager (but not as a viable drive, and will not accept a drive letter without formatting.) It does NOT show up in the File Manager as a drive or when Calibre tries to 'send to device.' It WILL download books from Amazon with no problems. Everything works; it just doesn't connect to a computer for side-loading. I spent an hour with Amazon's tech support, but they finally just gave up.
  21. The title says it all. My wife's Kindle has a corrupted memory and can no longer connect to her computer. We need a shop that can deal with this. I'd prefer not to try to send it back to the States. That would cost more than a new one bought outright! Thanks
  22. ... which is why it's listed first in the ingredient list... I understand your pain.
  23. Thank you, yes it does! Thank you. I now understand your energy boost! The very first ingredient, Maltrodextrin, which will be in the largest percentage is... wait for it... is sugar! And if there isn't enough sugar, the Sucralose (sugar) ingredient will fill in the gap! No wonder you feel an energy boost! 1. "Maltodextrin is a highly refined powder that is present in many processed foods, and it is used to replace sugar and improve the texture, shelf life, and taste of various processed food products 2 . Maltodextrin is a type of carbohydrate that provides no nutritional value and can cause an increase in blood sugar levels. But perhaps a word of warning... Despite being plant-based, gluten-free, and vegan, maltodextrin is linked to inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, according to some research. Years of steady ingestion may lead to problems down the road. Thanks for the clarification.
  24. Could you explain how protein gives you a 'massive energy burst' please? The body can burn sugars for energy. The body can burn fats for energy. What biological function burns protein for cellular energy other than Ketosis, which takes a few days of very limited carbs for the body to achieve? Ketosis doesn't happen just when one decides to take a protein powder. Yes... the body CAN convert protein into Ketone bodies which the body can burn (that's ketosis, and the principle behind the Keto Diet,) but this won't happen unless your body is almost depleted of stored glycogen. It will NOT happen if you had a few beers last night. Protein is great for muscle-building. But the human body can only make use of just 'so much' and excretes the rest. If you are body-building you need more protein than if you are just exercising for good body condition, and the extra powder 'may' be of benefit. 'May' be... if your diet consists of McDonalds, 7-Eleven ham&cheese sandwiches, and other processed foods. Otherwise, a healthy diet is all we need. When exercising, have a few more eggs, some fish, meat, cheese...
  25. Will members be required to wear a suit and tie to Lodge meetings here in Chiang Mai? Will the meeting rooms be air-conditioned?
