  1. Scorecard, this is a little dated, however,

Police issued the summonses to leading members of the People's Alliance for Democracy, including the Foreign Minister, Kasit Piromya, who is also a former member of the alliance, police Lieutenant-General Wuthi Puavej said on Saturday.

The summonses were "against people who were involved with the closure of Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports for the charges of illegal assembly, invasion, breaches of aviation law and terrorism," General Wuthi said.

  2. Just who is lying?????? "Sirichoke also denied Bout's wife claim he introduced himself as the PM's aide. It was a misinterpretation, he said, since the talk was in English. Bout did not understand English well and the interpreter may have mistranslated." Allegedly one of the most prolific arms dealers in the world, who speaks six? languages but can’t understand English? Hmm…

    This comes from http://www.viktorbout.com

Victor Bout is a dynamic, charismatic, spontaneous, well-dressed, well-spoken, and highly energetic person who can easily communicate in several languages including Russian, Portuguese, English, French, Arabic, among several others. He is a born salesman with undying love for aviation and eternal drive to succeed.

And another question is why did this Sirichoke person go to the prison, ??did not he or the P.M. not see the conflict of interest of an official of the Government interviewing a prisoner without his legal rep. and in secret????

I think with all said Thailand would be better off with just forgeting about the whole deal with the U.S. After all it seems like entrapment to me from the onset with the help of the Thai's.

Also, if Mr. Bout did not understand English well , how in the hel_l did he agree with the U.S. agents to the U.S. plan.

  3. I am confused, aren't you all confused ? The prison offical said there was no tape, Bout's wife said there is no tape, but then we hear from Jatuporn say there is a tape, which is denied by the PM. However, now we hear from the P.M.'s own party saying there is a tape??????????

Democrat Party spokesman Buranat Samutrak said the cloud over the allegation against Sirichoke would be removed once Bout's wife revealed the tape that recorded the conversation between him and Bout. He said Sirichoke should also clarify how the tape was recorded since it would be solid evidence.

  4. I wonder why there is no study concerning the number of inbred children are not used and what effect it has.

There scores of children in Thailand that are born every year that are the product of incest, and many of the marriages in Thailand are between first cousins, not to mention the number of children that have a Father that is also his or her grandfather :unsure::blink:

  5. Hi, I am responding because of the article about the Road Show in Chiang Mai of the Minister of Interior and this is what was said about exactly this.

Foreigners? right to property was the final topic, with officials listing the requirements for owning and buying condos. Additionally, the spouse of a Thai person can inherit one rai of land for residential or commercial purposes or 10 rai of agricultural land if their Thai spouse dies. If the spouse held more than the requirement, then the foreign partner has one year to sell or to give away. Thai children can inherit from their parents, and foreign parents can buy land for their children if they are minors but must apply for a court ruling before purchasing.

So unless I am wrong, if your house and land is less than 1 rai it can be legally willed to you. If the land that the land is more than 1 rai, I assume that you can still have it willed to you, however, you can only keep 1 rai and sell or give away the rest. I would think if it was say 10 rai, give 9 rai to the family and keep 1rai for yourself.

  6. Hello,

I am an American and I have been here in LOS for many years. I have been on Disability Social Security since 2005.

You do need to register at the Embassy and the State Department and with the Social Security Office. I deal with Manila, Philippines concerning the Social Security, it is the local office if you live in Thailand.

You will receive a form from the SSA in sometime Nov to Jan each year to continue to receive your benefits. When you receive it, fill it out soon. (You have 30 or 60 days to comply) according to the letter, however, you must remember that it takes 3 to 4 weeks to get the form.

What I do now is, 1. I make three copies of the completed form,I scan and send a copy as an attachment to the Philippines in an e-mail. 2. Send the original (completed) to the SSA in the States. Send a hard copy to the Philippines, 3. Keep a copy for my records.

In the last 5 years I have had my Benefit suspended twice, once because I never received a request in the mail (lost or whatever), and once because I never received the first request and then I did get a "second" request to be completed with in 30 days and it was to late because the second request was due in 1 day do to the mail system.

You will more than likely receive two request twice a year, I receive mine in May or June and again in Nov. or Dec. I have not have a problem lately, because if I don't receive a request at those times I send a request to the Philippines and ask if there a request for me to notify SSA, and if there is I just download the form and sent it myself.

If you have direct deposit in you Bank in the U.S. use it or request it before you move here. You can have your check sent to the Embassy and pick it up there but the easiest way and fastest is the have it deposited in you US bank account. You have easy access through ATM's or local Banks.

I hope this helps you. And let me one of the first to welcome you to our expat community.

    Bob

  7. WOW , WHAT IS SOMEONE DOING DRIVING AROUND IN BANGKOK , NANA AREA WITH 17 MILLION BAHT , AND WHY DID HE ONLY TAKE 5 MILLION INTO THE BANK TO DEPOSIT , WHY NOT DEPOSIT IT ALL WHILE HE IS THERE , SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING WAS SET UP HERE , BUT WHILE THEY CAN THROUGH THE BLAME ON ANOTHER FARANG THEY WILL

That it is not even being talked or reporting is the fact that there was 25 million, 5 was being deposited and 12 million was taken, :):D WHAT EVER HAPPENED WITH THE OTHER EIGHT (8) MILLION???? There is so much wrong with this heist and it's truth.

  8. NO, unless it has changed in the last 2 months. I did my 1 year extension in March and there was no requirement.

    1). Copies of Passport Pages

    2). Photo

    3). Completed form 7

    4). Proof of funds

5). Even-though I am on a Non O for Retirement, the Officer in Charge wanted my wife's name and phone number. But, I think that is just because they want to be sure how to get in touch with us. I must say this was new and it seemed to be an after thought, three of the officers that day had just returned from arresting a foreigner and I waited nearly three hours to do my extension, but it was a very pleasant experience. Except for the wait.

  9. - Frustrated, homeless and bitterly disappointed -- this is the reality for "Red Shirt" Parichart Chanmanee as she returns to her northern hometown after two months of protesting in Bangkok.

The single mother-of-two made the long journey back by bus on Thursday after a deadly military crackdown forced the anti-government movement's leaders to surrender, sparking looting and major arson attacks by hardcore protestors.

As she came home angered by the protest's failure to bring about the government's downfall, the 52-year-old faced another blow: she was homeless, with her belongings thrown out for failing to pay rent while she was away.

Thrown out by whom, obviously not by the rich Bangkok people, must have been her rural Red land owners. :)

  10. When PM dissolved the house before, this never happened !

Blaim him for all the unnecessary killings.

So, what you are saying is, if 1,000; 10,000; 50,000; even 100,000 Red, Yellow, Blue, Green no matter what color do not agree with the Government then should always step down and have new elections. Why even have elections, just have a revolving Prime Minister, just change him ever year. What a wonderful Democracy, nothing will ever be done to move forward.

  11. My apologies, it appears that Jatuporn is in custody, my previous post was a mistake of mine, I was reading an article from a year ago, that presented itself and I did not notice the date was 2009 :)

So I apologize, even I can be wrong when speed is so available :D

Remember the old saying and rule # 1 that says I am never wrong and rule # 2 says if you disagree then go to Rule # 1: :D

Red Shirt leader out on MP privileges to return to face charges on May 27

BANGKOK (NNT) -- Puea Thai Party MP Jatuporn Prompan, one of the core leaders of the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) has vowed to turn himself in to the police on 27 May 2010.

After being released due to his political rights, Puea Thai Party MP Jatuporn Prompan stated that he would submit to charges against him on 27 May according to Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) Tarit Pengdit.

The Director General of the DSI stated that his deparment has already lodged charges of terrorism against three UDD core leaders who surrendered to police yesterday. Those three UDD core leaders are Puea Thai Party MP Jatuporn Prompan, Mr Nattawut Saikua and Mr Kwanchai Praipana.

Police allowed Mr Jatuporn to go free due to his rights as a member of the House of Representatives. However, Mr Tarit said that Mr Jatuporn pledged that he would turn himself in to the police again near the end of this month.

Mr Tarit added that the Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Ousted ex Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and ten more UDD leaders on terrorism charges.

However, the court later suspended the arrest warrant on terrorism charges issued for Mr Thaksin for undisclosed reasons and decided to convene on the matter further on 24 May 2010 at 9.00 hrs. Mr Tarit admitted that he was surprised at the court's decision.
