  1. Secondly if Thaksin funded the reds debacle, who funded the near six month yellow shirt protests.

This article suggests a few possibilities: http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/thailand/081209/who-bankrolled-thailands-revolution

Incidentally, in a Jonathan Head (BBC) article about PAD's backers, he says "In fact, PAD organisers told the BBC they had carefully planned the seizure of the airport weeks before." I don't know why people on this board keep repeating the nonsense about the airport invasion being an "accident". What if the UDD leaders claimed the hospital invasion was an accident? Would that be accepted? Of course not.

Now don't be hasty, young master Emptyset.

The Jonathan Head article can still be found here

Interesting is that apart from the quote 'PAD planned seizure' in this article (and in copies available on other websites) I cannot find any further information on this. Sorry to say, but that means we can only speculate on this, unless you have more details.

As for the hospital invasion it was indeed an 'accident', we incorrectly believed army personel was hiding there. That's why we had to check, storming the hospital under loud noise, armed with bamboo sticks and scaring the hell out of sick people and hospital staff. Even our esteemed Dr. weng "acknowledged some red shirts have a 'cowboy attitude' that presents an image problem for the movement, which is already struggling to get support from middle-class Bangkok." Very sorry, but clearly just as bad as occupying an airport peacefully.

    Let me help you with your search, first it was "Operation Hiroshima" or as it was called by the PAD;

Protest at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and closures of airports

On the evening of Tuesday 25 November 2008, the PAD executed what they called "Operation Hiroshima." A convoy of hundreds of armed PAD members dressed in yellow blocked the two ends of the road in front of the terminal building of Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok's main airport and an important regional hub and blockaded the main road to the airport, aiming at resisting the landing of the prime minister's flight. . PAD forces quickly overpowered hundreds of policemen armed with riot gear. PAD leaders mounted a mobile stage and proceeded to criticize the government. PAD members armed with clubs, iron bars and knives, with some wearing black balaclavas, then entered the terminal, much to the surprise of the thousands of travellers inside.

    Official closure of the airport

PAD forces also forced their way into the control tower, demanding the flight plan for Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat's return from the APEC summit in Peru. Somchai flew into Bangkok Don Muang airport on the evening of 25 November 2008 before flying on to Chiang Mai. After hours of turmoil, the Airports of Thailand, AOT, eventually decided that all Suvarnabhumi flights were suspended, leaving thousands of travelers stranded in the airport., this action led to the official closure of the airport later.

  2. Excuse Me

Student Stabbed To Death In Bangkok School Brawl

Where was the Brawl, the witness said he and the victim was traveling on a motorcycle on their way home when TWO MOTORCYCLES approached and went on both sides of their motorcycle and stabbed the victim repeatedly, so where was the BRAWL? :realangry: Sounds just like a simple case of ASSAULT and MURDER :(:ermm:

  3. Some people have convenient memories. The government froze bank accounts so money couldn't be accessed for the bail.

I don't know why Thaksin is getting blamed (once again). The government has forbidden the transfer of any funds from Mr. Thaksin into Thailand. Would those condemning Mr. Thaksin prefer that he circumvented the legal restrictions and face new criminal charges? What part of a seizure order do you not understand? Bail in Thailand is neither raised, nor posted in the same manner as in the USA.

The government made sure that enough redtape was put in the way to interfere with the raising of the bail. Get real.

Well, Veera, Jatuporn, had some help, but then they were leaders, the PTP and rich Reds didn't give a <deleted> of the low level worker bees :whistling::realangry:

  4. Well, I applaud the PM in his efforts to be fair and get some representation to the unfortunate Red Shirts that believed, ( their leaders, Pheu Thai Party, and even Thaksin. )

Where is the help from all these people. All the Pheu Thai people especially Jutaporn. All these people can do is cause turmoil and do nothing to help the people and the Country.

"Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit said the main opposition party doubted the government was sincere in regard to efforts to bring about reconciliation."

At least the PM is putting forth an effort, what has your Party done other than run your mouths like a whippoorwill ass in berry time.

  5. What country are you and your Passport from, it matters.

When I renewed my permission to stay the same year that I had to renew my Passport I only had 8 months left on my original Passport.

I talked to Immigration in the old TOT building,in Korat, and I explained that I would have renewed my Passport earlier but the U.S. Embassy would not renew that early.

So they gave me the full 1 year and instructed me to bring my new Passport to have all my stamps and etc. transferred.

When I had only about 3 months left on my Passport, I renewed it and and immediately went to Immigration, mad by next 90 day report and had all the stamps transferred about 30 minutes it was done.

It only took the Embassy about 2and1/2 weeks to issue the new Passport.

  6. And this from another thread;

Thailand South East Hotel Association believes that the recent flooding situation does not affect tourism

KOH SAMUI (NNT) -- Thailand South East Hotel Association believes that the flooding situation will not affect tourism.

Do any of these experts even think about what comes out of their mouth.

What is that saying, Best keep quiet if not to smart, not to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

  7. Read that they have banned the stuff for sale in the Gin Joints during the afternoons now ...so what do they expect..?

    Mind Boggles

Ditto  Also, it is amazing how the Government so often say all the ills, (Protests, Bombings, Floods, Scams, Double Prices, etc.) don't have any affect on tourism.

But, when the profits of the beer market drop, “Overall beer consumption dropped significantly by 30 per cent year on year in May because of the political unrest, which caused a huge drop in the number of inbound tourists to Bangkok and other provinces where the anti-government rallies took place,” he said.

I really believe the Thai thinking can not grasp reality.

  8. And this is OK ?????

The response by Washington and its cornerstone Arab ally, Saudi Arabia, moved a step ahead Wednesday. The Obama administration notified Congress of plans to sell as many as 84 new F-15 fighter jets, helicopters and other gear with an estimated $60 billion price tag.

The proposed deal — one of the biggest single U.S. arms sales — is clearly aimed at countering Iran's rising military might and efforts to expand its influence.

  9. lite beer, You will not get this Visa in The U.S

Sorry, but I wish to disagree. I received a 1 year multiple entry non "O" from the New York Thai Embassy.

As it is true most places won't but there are several that will give you at least a 180 day multiple entry. (Atlanta, Ga. and Alabama are two honorary consulates that do).

I did get mine in 2005 though, so the rules may have changed since then. In addition, it was a bit hard, because the staff kept telling me that they could not do it. (No Can Do) After with about one hour of friendly banter and me supplying them with proof of funds along with photostat of a $25,000 certified check to open a Bank account in Thailand an official in the Embassy told me to leave my passport and return the next day after 1:00 P.M. to pick up my visa.

  10. I know of at least 6 cases over the last 2 or three years. I saw two years ago a neighbor that was 11 or 12 and very pregnant, I asked my wife who the father was and I was told Her Father is the baby's father. I asked why he wasn't in jail. And I was told because if he goes to jail nobody have any money and can not eat. It is not speculation it does go own a lot. And never gets reported, I thing you can chalk that on to the culture of the Men being over women in this country and the women being sub-serve int to the men.

Is this speculation on your part or do you have evidence.

  11. Hurry DSI, gather many personal then go to the airport there may be some of the 200 "men in black" still there, then you can be a hero to arrest them and put an end to this bull sh*t.

Those carrying out the attacks were linked to "the men in black" who were believed involved in many incidents of violence during the red-shirt protests in April and May.
