Aliexpress much better than a few years ago
ThaiFelix replied to scubascuba3's topic in General Topics
I have used them quite extensively over last couple of years with few problems. Most deliveries between 10 to 14 days upcountry. There is no indication, unlike Lazada or Shopee as to from where in China its being sent from so time can vary. Like any of these sites it is essential to always read the reviews of a shop/product before buying. Customs clearance is handled on the way. I have had to pay customs duty on only 2 out of 15 identical items over time, and that was when the orders final leg was by Thai post which was paid at local post office. One trick to be wary of that caught me was because one time I didnt check reviews. I ordered goods from a store that in hindsight they didnt have in stock and needed to be brought in. The trick iis they order the carrier to pick up the non existing parcel which makes it a failed pick up on the logistics side. Now you know there is a problem as time goes by because still not picked up, but you cant cancel the order and start the refund process until a certain time period has passed (2 weeks I think) . In the meantime the store is hoping to get your order in and forward it before the time period ends thus leading to delays on your end. Another problem I have had is with payments. Sometimes you need to clear all cookies before making payment otherwise a failure due to some security reason. Separate to that I have had problems with using a Thai SCB debit card whereas my Aussie debit card goes through every time. With the SCB card very 2 or 3 orders (every 2 or 3 weeks) they want to verify my the card with statements, ID etc causing a delay of a day or 2. This verification never happens with my Aussie card except when first using a new card replacing an expired one. All in all I have no hesitation in using Aliexpress. -

Why dispute over House speaker could decide Thailand’s political future
ThaiFelix replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes Sir Les, I agree, The peoples votes may have been cast and counted but the big decision will come from elsewhere. Early days still. -
Yes its a perfect example of modern thai culture. I live in a very small village and yet we have something like 7 temples. Its 3 times as many as the population requires. And they forever have their hands out for some improvement of some kind. They are nothing like the temples you talk of but still too much for a poor village. They could knock them all down and build two big ones to well and truly accupy all the worshippers and more but then there would be no competition for whose got the biggest statue or meeting hall etc. They cant even follow the most basic of Buddhist principles.

Phuket Governor Orders Investigation Over Underwater Painting

Sadly you need to have pics of tour boats dropping anchor straight onto coral or fishing boats throwing plastic waste overboard posted on social media before any action is taken. Shove it in our faces for everyone to see or it didnt happen. -
I have been living here in Thailand for over 20 years. Prior to that I was a frequent visitor coming 2 or 3 times a year for 15 years. I have family back in Oz including a daughter. Over that 35 odd years I have used Thai post quite a bit, especially when my daughter was younger to send her clothes toys etc. I also found it easier and cheaper to post stuff back to OZ rather than carry it on my travels. Only ONCE in those 35 years have I lost a thing.....one parcel sent to Oz never made it. Lost here or there who knows. Incidently I always used the cheapest post as in no hurry to have it delivered so long as it gets there and it almost always has.

Thailand’s cannabis farmers anxious over new coalition’s U-turn
ThaiFelix replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There are also a great many doctors who are concerned about the road toll but dont hesitate to give you a health cert for driving licence without even seeing you lol! Money speaks the loudest in Thailand and will do for the cannabis crew (unless the alcohol lobby get busy with it) -
Thai MP-elect aims to break £11bn alcohol duopoly with progressive bill

That is disgusting! I wonder how much influence US$14 billion gets you (influence in this case sounds so diluted and weak, maybe force is better)?
