  1. Yes, i suppose thats the normal suspect, Loa Khal, my mrs often says so & so has died today, had liver problem, i automatically think loa khal, but its not the whole case, yes, alcohol is a major contributor and so is raw fermented freshwater fish, the following site explains, another site suggests that raw fish should be fermented for a min of 6 months before they are safe to eat.

I would think we all know that liver problems cause lethargy, aches and pains yellowing skin, eye probs ect, perhaps these older people have the onset of liver problems?

  2. OP doesnt say if his Car is an automatic or not, if its an Auto its possible the flex plate is cracked, this is the plate the tourque converter bolts on, and a starter motor causes different stresses on the plate, as its only turning the engine from one place. it could also cause a droning noise at speed, the lack of this noise at a warm start-up could be due to expansion and an easier engine to turn over.

It hasnt been mentioned here that a 4cyl engine stops in 2 places, a 6 cyl engine stops in 3 different places, this is the case with manual or auto transmissions, so the flex-plate/flywheel ring gear could be worn and also the starter cog.

An easy check with a manual is to put the car in 2/3 rd gear push it enough to turn the engine about 30% and then try the starter, with an auto, you can turn the engine a bit on the front pulleys, try starting it,

Op says that the noise is constant at 80k, so that really rules out anything engine wise, or the noise would be at the same RPM in any gear, so its speed related rather than RPM related, possibly a wheel bearing, perhaps OPs car has had too many pressure washes, 2/3 bar water pressure will eventualy get into the bearings and dry them out,

  3. Best 3 Moto GP races for a long time, but whatever was Zarco playing at on the line, he had the race won and gave it up? Scott R did really well, to stay in front of those protagonists for so many laps, lets hope the jinx and memories are finished now and his ghosts can be laid to rest, im pretty sure he went all out for Tokishowas memory and to clear his own mind, also that if he was in front he wouldnt hit a faller..

I didnt listen to Moaners comments at the end, but im sure there must have been some about tyres ect, or dark visor, well done Yourgay, home race next, and what a battle with simple dovi and spies, cant believe the clumsy dago beat them two !!!!

Superbikes, well what can you say, RAIN, the great leveler from the sky, Tom Sykes done well, dissapointing for Haga yes, but bloody brilliant for Tom, first Kawasaki win since Chris Walker Assen 2007, pity it wasnt dry!

Went to WSB Nurburgring 1998, stayed at a campsite just over the border in Belgium, the boss gave us black beer and some homemade cheese, then a slide show of how he made the cheese, all the time giving us the beer, then a big steak meal, we went to practise on the saturday, it was a brilliant sunny day, about 70ks from the camping, lovely twisty roads, my younger brother on his 900 Trident always got past me on the bends, but i got back on the straights {ZZR1100} both 2 up, on Raceday, it was a bit overcast when we left the site, got to the Ring and it pissed down all day, Arron Slight won the first and Chilli won the second, Fogarty was way down in both races, so just goes to show rain will sort the men from the moaners!!

  4. Mrs asked me which is best for her friend/salon customer,

Friend has found what seems like a nice fella in Sweden, now, there only contact has been through e-mails, for about 3 months, is this a setback when applying for a visa, therefore would a tourist visa be better than a visit visa [whatever the difference is?]

This young lady has a young child and works for the goverment, she has the money to pay for her trip if need be, but as i understand it, she has asked him for a 50/50 airfare split,

Ive tried the visa history search, but didnt come across thiss particular question, as i read the posts there, it seems a lot easier than getting my mrs to UK on a family visit visa,

    Thanks for any help, Lickey.

  5. Concerning the sabotage of the Mid Antrim 150 races, Ireland, its true, why on earth would anybody want to do this?

Perhaps its one or the same people that have learning difficulties [being polite] that smashed up the late great Joey Dunlops gravestone a few days after he was buried, theres some sad sick people about...

  6. Indy, not bad, but some bad tyre choices? Simple,Rossi,Hayden, to name a few, Moto 2 was brilliant as usual, well done Bradley and somebody must of had a word with Scott, Willyrot crashed out of 22nd? place, Bradley done his four stroke traing with Rocket Ron, which takes me to a little story,,,,

Think it was 1978, had my brand new Honda CX500, with mrs younger brother and a mate we went to 500gp at Spa Francorchamps, camped near the circuit, Race day we were walking along the perimeter fence, just in front of us were some german bikers, out came the bolt croppers and they cut a hole in the fence, in we went free, cant remember who won the race but Ron was on the NSR, pretty sure it conked out, will go check on Moto Gp site soon,

Bluetongue, if you cut my head off, my neck is like a stick of rock, you would read Kawasaki, Gregg Hansford was a great rider, Rob Phillis and Anthony Gobert are also great Kwaker riders, See them all on Youtube,

Next weekend, weve got Moto GP Italy and WSB Germany,

Just checked about RH, got that wrong!! was 1982, blimey, dont remeber mrs leaving our kids with mum for a weekend, sorry, was NR 500..

  7. If you are a farang, you cannot drive it. ;)

I did read that I could not get a work permit to drive a truck. Wasn't sure if that was still true, wasn't sure if that meant I could not drive it at all.

Do Thai people need a special license to drive this truck or at big semi? In the USA I could drive a straight line truck with a car license, but not a semitractor trailer rig.

I would have wanted to drive it from time to time, but I wasn't keen on doing it for a full time job.

No, you cannot drive it. Taking work from a Thai. ;)

Rules are rules, whether I think they make sense or not, the rules won't change. I will have to live with that.

Most trucks this size in the USA would be as easy for a women to drive as a man, is that true in Thailand? It isn't like my GF will drive all the time, just wanted to know the options. She has driven a clutch before.

Im pretty sure you can, if you read through this post on the faming forum, post 24, PM Khowan, and he will explain what to do, cheers.

  8. What about the "Manitoba" flour, as anyone ever seen this product in Thailand?

Just seen this site about flour in Thailand, the english translation is not specific, or i least i dont think so, perhaps posters partners would like to read the thai version,,

  9. Speaking of dreamboxes.....mine failed a couple of months ago and it went into the provider's shop where he discovered that it was the power supply that had failed....he wanted 800thb just for the 240v ac to 12vdc cable and box and I held off until I had to make a maesai run and found it there for 250thb and bought 2....just in case one fails again.

Has anyone else had that problem with their dreambox power line??

Well, not sure if it was transformer or True blocking net signal, had 3 dreamboxes in 2 months all with same problem, could only recieve channel 7 and 112 sport channel, all others were dead, its ok tonight, works fine, have all channels, but not DSI Science,Turbo, and TLC, 151 152 and 153 respecfully,

I did read on another thread that you can use laptop to re-position dish for another sat service, anybody know how to do this? Thanks Lickey,,

  10. ok yes, you can tow an Auto, for about 200mtrs at walking speed, not adviseable but if you have to get it out of harms way, ok..

When i was doing a HGV breakdown service in the UK, got called by the cops to shift a broken down 12ton camper, auto, i told the cops on arrival i would have to remove the prop, and being the 9bolt variety might take about 30mins, the cops said there is a 3 mile queue, move it now!! i said will cost owner a fortune if the auto winds up, Cops said, tell him to send us the bill, and we will send him our overtime bill, i got the camper to a lay-by in a few hundred yards and sorted it,

So yes, tow, but not far and not fast, even then its a big risk of a lot of damage.

  11. Op, forget the idea or advice about towing an auto 40kph to get it started, it will totally destroy the box, an auto gets it oil pressure via the engine turning the Torque Converter, the auto oil pump is in the front of the box and when pressure is up it operates the clutches/bands ect,

Yes you must remove the propshaft, easy at the axle end, tie it up out of the way, saves removing all the prop, front wheel drive, yes lift and tow is the easiest way,

  12. Wifes friend got a letter this morning from tribunals goverment IAC Birmingham,

    To the Appellant and Respondant.

[tick box] You have indicated that you want the appeal to be decided on the papers without a hearing.

[unticked box]no representative or Sponser in the UK has been nominated.

[unticked box] the representatives nominated by youhave indicated they are not representing you.

[unticked box] The notice of the hearing sent to your nominated Representativehas been returned not served..

If you have no further evidence or submissions, no action from you is required.

Friends son wants to stay with his sister and study english in Birmingham,

Quiestion is should their have been a previous letter with a better explanation? i did ask, but they say no, only this, otherwise,i really am at a loss,

    Any help appreciated, Thanks Lickey..

  13. Saw a Jamie Oliver prog a few weeks ago, he got an old biscuit tin, put some hard wood chips in it, a few fresh garden herbs, bit of olive oil, then a wire mesh support over the top, laid in 2 salmon fillets, put the lid on, punched a few holes in it, put it on gas ring, 5 mins later he had some tasty looking salmon, must be the cheapest and easieist way, gonna do it myself when i have an old tin with a lid!

  14. Simon, i would think that they want to change the rack is that debris from the hydraulic side of the PS has gone into the rack, the power side is un-filtered,only the return is or should be filtered,

Of course there are other things to test first before committing to 30k, like the elctric supply to the pump ect,

Find the pump, perhaps trace it by following pipes from rack, start the engine, lay your hand on the pump, get somebody to move the steering left and righ a little, does the pump groan or vibrate a bit? if so, it could be a rack problem, if it doesnt, pump is U/S, keep engine on tickover/idle..

If not sure, take it to a half decent garage, good luck..

  15. Dont forget Soihok that most top bike racers are small fellas,

I enjoyed both races, good to see racing thats not dominated by one make, M.Melondri did well with the Yam, and Mrs Melon-dri was a sight to behold jumping about in the pits after his win, lets hope for the rest of the season the weather stays hot and M.M gets on the podium..

17th, this coming Sunday, German Moto GP, fast, could be a Wanda benefit race, Yams will be there too,, as usual, im hoping for a VR Duke podium..
