Not seen a bike with red plates, all the bikes I have bought over the years had no plates, just wait for them to turn up, not heard of a bike problem and the BiB, just keep copy of sales paperwork under the saddle...

Yes, the red plates are supplied by the gov to dealers, they pay for them, hence buyers deposit. The Law states 30 days on red plates. If a dealer is sitting on your money in 'their' bank, it's a nice little earner... LTO will give you a covering letter for the BiB after the 30 days is up.... We had an ordered plate, we had a covering letter....????

1. Oh well. 2. The gov MAKE the plates, they have the gov emblem embossed on them. 3. I got a waiver letter from the LTO because the dealer messed up.

Proof of address is required, LTO offices usually have a qwack sitting nearby, think 100bht a paper....

You cannot buy a new car without it being registered and the gov issuing the plates and registration book. There have been delay's in getting the white plates in the past down to the gov being behind in supplying them, though the BiB would probably know nothing about the delay if they were after giving a ticket etc. This is Thailand..

And maybe has more balls than most of us eh, for doing so....

You just need a visa of some sort, you will get a 2 year provisional licence. If you have a licence from your country, you will just do the reaction, colour blind, and the alignment tests, plus a medical, which nobody fails and costs next to nothing. I did have an International Driving Permit.. You will watch a daft video for an hour. You can drive on your UK licence for 90 days. Motor and bike licences are treated separately, including the medical paper..

Perhaps he owned a garage or bought them off a chum with a garage....
