  1. Depends on engine, induction, and exhaust exit design.. 4 stroke, 2 stroke, many variables...????
  2. I don't think so, it's the local bike bling shops giving them a wow. We did the same back in the 60's with our Vespa and Lambretta's, looking at all those lovely chrome exhausts etc, hanging on the wall.... Which brings back a memory...???? I was sixteen, I bought this lovely chrome box from a scooter bling shop, one night I got pulled by a noddy for excessive noise, he said I am reporting you. A letter came to attend juvenile court in front of a Judge. Mum had to go with me as I was a juvenile, I also had my brand new chrome exhaust with me.. The copper was there too, going on about trying to stop the imports of silencers that were too loud. My turn came, judge had head in hands, I held up my nice new chrome box and told him, "I bought it in good faith because it was made to fit my scooter and was for sale." The judge was looking over his half rim glasses... "I understand what you are saying, but it seems you were still making a noise with it, hmmmmm, 2 pound fine, no endorsement"..... ????
  3. And Tom Lawrence would have been waking up the dead on his 1000cc Brough Superior SS100 V-Twin back in the 30's.....????
  4. Very poor transformer locations and protection... Over half a century back I used to work on electricity mains supply in London, all high voltage cables were buried a yard underground feeding substation buildings. The low voltage cables came out of them at a depth of about 18 inches to feed the area. These buildings housed the huge transformers, not the mickey mouse ones you see here dangling from a post here. Folk may not of noticed these buildings, they were usually tucked away. Here's an old one. They did become like bomb shelters in construction, a roof of 12 inches of concrete to contain any explosion... This is why it was rare for an outage, even 50+ years back...
  5. I did a PP renewal for an old guy near me, about 800km from BKK, it was all done by post, except he picked up his new PP in Pattaya whilst on holiday.. https://www.keyvisathailand.com/services/renewing-uk-passport-thailand/
  6. It is all done by post. Perhaps one downloads the form to fill in, but it is all done by post. Have a read.... https://www.keyvisathailand.com/services/renewing-uk-passport-thailand/
  7. Your auto box has a drive coming out of the box tail shaft to drive the front trans axle, the handbook says/advises to engage 4x4 every month for 6/10 km, not saying this maybe to cause of your knock, but who knows, they give this advice for a reason..
  8. WhiteBuffaloATM, why are you showing confused....?
  9. Have you engaged 4x4 monthly to ensure lubrication of all moving parts..?
  10. That is not so, Key Visa Service do the whole thing by post. You can even use their credit card service if you do not now have a UK account....
  11. Perhaps many forget how loud bikes were from factory when they were kids, perhaps they forget their Morris 1000 "bark"too...????
  12. Not necessarily, our lad took his Honda for a service, they told him it has a problem that will cost 40,000bht to fix, I said what's the problem, "Don't know, it drives OK".. That was about a year ago, we still don't know what the problem was... The idea of this forum is to ask, a simple fix may be found, many simple fixes have been found here before taking the next step....????
  13. But it's good to talk, sometimes we learn something...????
  14. Is it a 4x4.....? My 2007 Vigo auto was a 4x4, the only Vigo that could be bought with an auto at the time. In gear and stationary, the internal parts of the converter are not doing much at that low idle rpm, the converter casing is continuously driving the box oil pump, which it will do in or out of gear. I have only ever put an auto into "N" if I want to take my foot off the brake and use the handbrake, perhaps a long traffic stop. My personal thought is that continuously knocking in and out of gear puts unnecessary stress on the drive train, perhaps over a period of time it will show in the mechanicals. Your ride has a split drive shaft, it has a bearing in a rubber lined mounting, check it out, check the fixings, it maybe worth checking that the torque converter/flexplate (flywheel) fasteners are tight. The other thought is the lock-up part of the converter, but I have had no dealings with those to comment. I can't see how your garage can give you a job price unless he knows what the problem is..Unless he gets a box from a right-off, or he has a recondition-er contact...
