1973, well it had to happen, they were on the shelf, so why not, the MGB GT with a V8....
I never really worked out why they used a de-tuned version of the reduced cc Buik engine (3.5ltr) in a "sports" car, perhaps the light weight of the MGB. The Rover saloons had way more HP on tap. Loved to have had a go in one though, but I did have a go of a TR8, same engine, but it wasn't a factory TR8, a conversion, where I had to tell the owner there is something wrong with it, it's a slug..????
Typical BMC/BL old school, using ancient SU carbs, instead of a fit and forget downdraught carb, as all USA V8's had back then...But still, bet it was fun to drive with all that torque....????
