Just downloaded series 7 & 8. This is the prequel to the late, great John Thaw's 'Morse'. Classy scripts; accurate historical setting and characters you care about who enunciate clearly. Loving it.
Yet I have never heard of one case of a single expat UK pensioner unfreezing his pension by pretending to live in Britain and still getting his 'cold weather' payments.
RTP say 90+% of all farang deaths are suicide. A few months back the Sattahip police judged a Thai guy had shot and killed himself on the strength of his brother's word about depression. Later it occurred to them that the gun was missing from the scene. The brother confessed he did it because his bro' owed him money.
Many tourists come to visit relatives who have retired here. Over the last 20 years (excluding Covid) I reckon I have averaged four a year. If Thailand cherished its ex-pats we would not be having this debate.
But it must go somewhere. I thought the law of 'being/becoming unusually rich' was meant to stop this. All senior figures should be forced to reveal their assets; that includes officials in the police/armed forces; politicians; the Business world and Prawit.
IF parties had a clear set of policies that the electorate could vote for or against, that should determine what parties win or lose. As it is now, seemingly all Thai politicians are following the money which sets a bad example to the voters.
