I read this story and was horrified, well the police have the number plate, so it should not be so hard to catch the culprit, only problem is about how to prove who was driving?, gor sure they will say it was not them and it was someone else who used the car but they cannot remember who.. oh yeah plus a little tip to the police officer.
-
But you need to tell us whether they were any good.
No problems - a little slow, as they probably waited until they got a van load before delivering. Took about 10 days altogether, but no reports of anything damaged.
About 7 baht per kilo - 1,070 baht for 150 kilos. (A lot less than the post office)
that was a good deal!, do they send overseas?
-
well i think that is the issue, there is no proper driving test here, as in the UK ( correct me is i am wrong ) you have to have a Min amount of lessons ( around 20 ) and also take a theory test and driving test, and none of this comes cheap, maybe 500 pounds or 30,000 THB!!, also if you make 1 or 2 simple mistakes in your driving test you FAIL unlike here in Thailand, as when i took my Thai Driving Test, i would say only 10% of the people should have past
-
Hey
I now this would probably never happen here, but what do you think the outcome of a proper Road Safety Campaign would help the countries millions of terrible and unsafe drivers.
I found this video of a campaign in england to advise drivers not to speed and stupidly overtake ( happens all to often in thailand )
-
Pardon my ignorance, but how can customs have a "target"? Surely their "revenue" is from tax collected on imports which can vary wildly.
maybe they are targeted to what the annual average should be?, thus to stop to much milking of the money to the men in charge
-
-
they were'nt suicides according to this forum
how do you mean??
According to the Pattaya news clippings, every death of a ferang is sucide
My point is, there are a lot of desperate people in thailand who may need some support and guidence, thus thaivisa could assist with its database of members
-
Hi
After so many posts of ferang being and commiting sucide, should there not be a sub forum relating to depression/problems/sucide?, as many people want to trap there inner feelings but may express them on thaivisa ?...
Even if the sub forum saved one life, surly it would be worth opening????
Mods, what you think?
-
i would rather stay in Singapore, the money will be far better ( maybe 5 times ) and if you like thailand so much just pop over every other weekend on air asia
-
so a prison officer owning a BMW???......
same as i look at my local police station and see a range of cars that would be impossible to afford on the normal police salary... simple sign of coruption
-
And the relativity to Thailand of this thread is .?????????????????
the airline company fly in and out of thailand?
-
I hope - for heaven's sake - that the few original Thai/Chinese families, still living in Bophut will NOT bow for money and may Buddha forbid that girlie bars are/will be allowed.
LaoPo
Keep Fishermans village as it is!, it is still the only consider up market area in Samui...... as if you bring in the girly bars, all you will have is LOAD and CRAP music blaring down the whole street!
-
What a hero, thankfully did'nt shoot him
Thats what i was thinking, he used far to much energy Kicking him, why not shoot him, hit him with a phase gun or use the classic batton around the knee caps or head
-
How to spice it up is the question then?
We don't want girlie bars there, we have them everywhere else. Personally, I love it as it is, it has more character than many places on the island.
agree, if you are into girly bars visit Bangrak, if you want the nightlife pop into chewang...
Fishermans Village has its own charm, also The billabong play live music ect.......... and there has been some very hot chicks in there ( Not Bar Girls ) so there is a little challenge for you
-
as one poster said.. is 80 baht worth your life?? I get ripped of everyday.. I expect to!
TIT
i couldnt agree more

You may have a private telephone line installed at Aumpai Luxury Resort in Lamai for private LAN access. For a "desk" the IT-Complex (www.isamui.com) in Lamai might be able to provide one - they are supposed to have the fastest lines out of Samui.
Supposed - i have been there a few times and the line was not very good,
Try the new resort opposite weekender resort, about 15K a month and they have some very fast internet access
Tx

also note they have changed name from Samui Property Solutions to Far East Property Solutions

Caribbean credit: A one-bed apartment at the Crane hotel in Barbados costs £274,000 and its beach was voted one of the top ten in the world
Credit crunch? What credit crunch? While most of us may be feeling the pinch as fuel and food costs rise – and let's face it, holidays are usually the first thing to be axed – hotel groups all over the world are encouraging people to buy their own slice of their properties.
As opposed to timeshares – where you only get limited and designated visiting times and then hand the property back when your lease is up – with 'condo' or 'apart' hotels, you get to own the deeds, bricks and mortar, and have the full service of a regular hotel when you visit. And if you do start to feel the crunch, you can rent out your room, suite or villa when you're not there via the hotel management company.
Tim Moore, partner at Far East Property Solutions, the team responsible for Himmapan Beach Samui, a buy-to-let resort in Thailand, says: 'Buy-to-let hotel investments offer a great way to generate income and are less hassle than trying to manage and let out a traditional holiday home. The key to success is to ensure the hotel has high occupancy rates all year round – look for a great location with a long tourist season and high numbers of visitors.
'Some buy-to-let hotels may also qualify for Self Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) inclusion, so British investors could benefit from up to 40 per cent tax relief as well as exemption from the 18 per cent capital gains tax.'
Here are some of the best…
Goldeneye, Orcabessa, Jamaica
The most famous of them all. Ian Fleming's former home (and where he wrote many of the Bond books) has been a boutique hotel owned by luxury chain Island Outpost for some years – and now a set of luxury residences is being built on the site on Jamaica's north coast. Residents should be able to move in next August.
Prices: From $650,000 (£327,000) for a one-bed Bond Suite with plunge pool to $3.2m (£1.6m) for a four-bed lagoon villa.

The Malkai, Barka, Oman
Dubai is so yesterday. Oman is set to take its title as the jewel of the Middle East – even more so thanks to Sultan Qaboos bin Said issuing a 2006 decree allowing foreigners to own property. The Malkai, set for completion in 2010, is a super-exclusive development and country club that will consist of 101 villas and 92 two-bed suites managed by the GHM group owned by hotelier Adrian Zecha.
Prices: from $1.3m (£650,000) for a suite, $4.4m (£2.2m) for villas.

Champneys, Marbella, Spain
The award-winning British spa and hotel group is opening its first spa resort overseas in the hills above Marbella on the Costa del Sol. The resort, consisting of 48 apartments and 24 penthouses, will see a 'modern Moorish' design by Granada architects Paco Pastor and Alfonso Bermejo when it opens in 2010.
Prices: €633,186 (£505,462) for an apartment and €772,752 (£612,035) for a penthouse.

Les Terrasses d'Agadir, Agadir, Morocco
Set for completion by the end of next year, Les Terrasses d'Agadir will be a four-star complex of 147 hotel rooms, a restaurant, a spa and two pools, a stone's throw from Kings Palace in downtown Agadir. The city, on Morocco's Atlantic coast, is undergoing significant development with a 500-berth marina recently completed.
Prices: Apartments from €109,800 (£87,000) to €202,520 (£160,000).
The Crane, Barbados
The main body of The Crane was built in 1887 and expanded in the late 1990s. Many of these properties are designed so any residential income helps cover some costs rather than allowing the owner to make huge profits. The rental pool at The Crane, however, gives 90 per cent of revenue back to the owner. The hotel's beach has been voted one of the top ten in the world.
Prices: One-beds from $545,000 (£274,000), three-bed penthouse $2,795,000 (£1.4m).

Château de La Redorte, Languedoc, France
If you can't afford a whole French chateau to yourself, how about part of one? Château de La Redorte is at the heart of the village La Redorte on the banks of the Canal du Midi and was last restored in 1840. Now owned by Garrigae, the current refurbishment and building of two 'dependence' buildings will see 42 apartments go on the market.
Prices: 52sq m apartments start at €258,000 (£204,000).

Jumby Bay Resort, Antigua
Another chance to own a private part of the Caribbean comes at Antigua's Jumby Bay Resort. Set on a private island and managed by Rosewood Hotels, you'd have to pay a fair old price for one of the new houses being added to the resort (there are already 19 houses and 22 villas built) – prices start at £7million. You do, however, get your own pools, housekeeper, chef and gardener. The new buildings will be ready next year.
Prices: £2m for villas, £7m for houses.

depends how long you are staying here, but an idea would be 2 do 1 week in Samui and 1 week in Phuket..
-
Great for me
and me
-
sorry for the misunderstanding, i mean that cool blue and Himmipan are NOT owned by the same people, they are just marketed by the same company
-
well i am not surprised with the result in the poll
-
mmmm. Koh Tao doesn't care about TV. Or everything's fine.
maybe lack of internet on the island?

Try Samui Diamond Properties just along from Big C.
The English owner, Victor is a real nice and very competent agent and he has a Thai partner, and between them they already manage a number of holiday let properties.
HL
I heard (and see from looking at his vacant office across from BIG C) that he and his boyfriend left the island in a rush months ago...not correct? seen them in person lately?
Joe,
Someome should reprimand you for spreading such misinformation. They are in business, their offices are not empty. What a load of tripe you come up with.
agree, Joe you do come out with some rubbish sometimes........
