doesnt this also cause a very high tide? ... hope it doesnt rain at the same time !
Ranong prepares for 'super high tide' from 'Super Moon'
The "Full Moon" phenomenon will find the moon directly opposite the earth from the sun. The moon will be 16 per cent brighter as it approaches its closest distance to earth and will also be the year's largest.
Ranong people living near the sea have previously experienced the high tide, which caused flooding.
Payom Kaewdaeng, a villager of Muang district said that many residents have already packed their items out of fear that the phenomenon would cause inundation of their areas.
"We had bad experience with flooding caused by the full moon before. Now it is Super Moon, which could possibly result in a higher tide," he said.
However, he said his friends and neighbours were not nervous, as they had experienced a "super moon" before. They nonetheless expected the provincial authorities to be on the alert and ready to help people in case of emergency.

this is what caused the serious and unusal flooding last year ( think it was late march )

Koh Samui could be about to get a second airport to rival the existing privately run airport already there.
The Thai Transport Ministry plans to build a state run airport to help increase tourist numbers and end the monopoly on the island.
The existing airport cannot be expanded due its close proximity to residential areas and an increase in tourist numbers is putting a strain on the airport according to Homes Go Fast.
A second airport on the island would provide a boost to the property market claims Nick Marr, director of international real estate portal HomesGoFast.com.
“A new airport on Koh Samui would certainly provide a boost to the local property market. Making it easier to reach the island would attract foreign buyers looking for a sound overseas investment” he said.
Samui airport is owned and operated by Bangkok Airways and adheres to strict rules about the number of flights to restrict noise pollution.

Getting Kitty-ed out: Taiwanese airline Eva launches Hello Kitty-inspired planes to boost country's tourism industry
The cat's whiskers: Taiwan's second-largest carrier, Eva Airlines, and Japan's comic company, Sanrio, which owns the Hello Kitty brand, collaborated on the second generation Hello Kitty-themed aircraft, sen here at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan
Paw-fect pink: A passenger stands next to Eva Airlines' self check-in counters, which are decorated with Hello Kitty motifs. The Hello Kitty brand was launched in 1974 in Japan and has become hugely popular around the
Tasty treats: Economy class plane food may not have the best reputation, but this Hello Kitty-themed in-flight meal certainly looks a lot more interesting and appetizing than the traditional offerings
Happy dreams: Possibly the prettiest aeroplane head rest cover in the world. The cartoon character Kitty was born in the suburbs of London and her height is described as five apples and her weight as three apples

Do you specifically want a shot-time room? I know of some 2br bungalows that are cheaper than 250 baht per night (they're 7000 baht per month).
i think rob might be writing the ' Samui Short Time Guide ' , or is looking for different locations across samui to ' have fun '
Now there's a monetizable idea!
PS - 1 more post james and you can enter bedlem !Sweet. Hadn't noticed that! What's 'bedlam'?

Having a bar on the roadside, as there used to be only on the other side of the adjacent MacDonalds, is hardly a stroke of genius, but then here that might actually qualify.
Biilabong Surf Club, Lamai - R.I.P. 2001-2008
Billabong was always a very busy bar....

An Australian tourist died when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a six-wheeler truck on Thaweeratpakdee Road in Maret a little past noon on April 18.
The truck driver, Wut Mekbutra, surrendered to the police at the site of the accident.
He told police that the victim, Adna Kassir, 60, was speeding head-on towards his truck.
He sounded the truck’s horn but Mr. Kassir, Wut said, didn’t change course.
Wut said he had stepped on his brakes when the motorcycle slammed into his truck.
