  1. The mayor of Koh Samui has just said that, "yes we need a new airport, but there is not enough room on the island as cutting into the mountain side would cause problems to the ecology"..........surprise ! surprise !

He then says " a better place would be over near Donsak, as it would service the surrounding area and Koh Samui" surprise ! surprise! again.

Its a fact that a group of Bangkok and local businessmen have bought a large tract of land at Donsak with the idea of doing just that !

I am wondering, did the mayor know of this or not, but i am thinking that it would be very profitable for him to support this business venture.................Call me cynical, but this is how things work in Thailand.

is it now time to start buying up land in donsak ??? ...... could be the new Costa Del Thailand... with a nice airport with direct ' cheap flights '

  2. Thank you for really fast answer:) Now we only have to find flights. We begin our trip from Berlin and we also want to stay for some days in Tokyo. Mayby you have some advise which airlines shall we take?

you can only fly BKK air into Samui ( Thai Air do have 2 slots a day , but are the same price )

it might be an idea to see the prices of thai air from tokyo to samui ( Via BKK ) , they might have a deal on

  3. so not to upset the advertisers, why dont we have a new pinned topic related to all things ' Beer '

IE - New Bars that are open , who has what happy hour, the best happy hour, bar reveiws, cheapest place, nicest afternoon bar, evening bar ect ect ect .........

this is vital informaiton for some, and should be pinned... as topics started mentioning the above are closed, as there isnt a pinned topic to move it into

    cheers

  4. Cheers guys.

Got to be evening because I'm disabled and at this time of year with the heat even walking to the local market and back kicks the hell out of me. The songthaews refuse to go up my way because the road (road?) is too bad which means a motortaxi back home. I could walk it but even though I am ever so polite the local packs of soi dogs refuse to be friends. I use a crutch to walk which gives me some protection with one or two dogs but when there are six or seven it's another matter.

ever thought of moving to a new place? , you sound like you are captive in your room during the day sad.png

you could always rent a jeep? .. or i am sure there is a TV member from Lamai who also want to taste the delights of ST !

Yeah ask insertmembernamehere. You can both review the place. thumbsup.gif

  6. It must have been quite a burden to carry for the man charged with promoting traditional pork pies.

But for 15 years Matthew O’Callaghan, chairman of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association, has not been able to stomach meat.

He chose the annual British Pie Awards at the Leicestershire town to make his shocking confession: ‘I’m a vegetarian.’

Hard to stomach: Matthew O'Callaghan of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association has confessed to being unable to face pies ever since a bad food experience in Bangkok 15 years ago

He told the hundreds of pie connoisseurs and producers: ‘I had a bad experience with food in Bangkok 15 years ago and just cannot face meat again,’ according to the Leicestershire Mercury.

‘I don't know how to say this, but I am a vegetarian.’

  7. Well it would seem that STs has a seriously good rep for its food. Now I just need to find someone in Lamai who is willing to go up there and get a free dinner. I don't have transport so I'd have to pay to get there and back which is going to cost me what? 4-500 Baht. Cheaper to get a lift in return for a free dinner. Is it open every day?

    closed on mondays...

you could go by songtow and make a day out of it?

  8. Well in a strange twist of fate someone has sneaked up on us and thrown a bucket of water on the fire.

Yes one of my PM discussions has been closed.

Who has been looking at it I wonder?

It has been said many times before that no one can look in on these discussions.

Perhaps someone can clarify please? wai.gif

Edit: When I looked at the PM it said in place of the post button archived conversation.

Its back to normal now but that is a bit worrying. What does it mean?

Still waiting for some clarification on this odd event.

As well as this I was unable to post or send PM's two days ago and sent an email to forum support explaining this. Posting was back to normal 20 mins later. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to reply regarding that matter also.

By PM or email, whatever, thanks.

i noticed that as well ..
