I do a bit, the gardener does most of it.
Moving to BKK doesn't mean giving up a garden. I live on the outskirts, a 25 minute expressway commute to work, and I have a great moo ban and house with decent sized garden.

Been here since '92. MEt my partner in the US and we moved here. Have loved my whole time here, and only go back to the States every year and a half or so. Too many other places in the world I want to see rather then spend money to go back to my dreary hometown.

If somebody is complaining about things a lot, eventually people want them out of their hair. In my work, I tell those that I oversee that if they want to come in to complain about something they need to have at least a couple good/creative solutions to what they want to complain about.
I'm new to this particular branch of Thaivisa forums, so I have not read your comments. I however have known more than my share of people who constantly complain and don't seem to appreciate how nice it actually is to live here. Of course it is good to want things to improve, but really we can only start with ourselves and see what we can do personally, setting a good example, etc. You won't get anyone else to change.
Therefore, I guess if it is unbearable then you should find another place. If it is bearable and you can contribute to make it better, then thank you! If you want to stay but don't want to contribute to make it better, then stay quiet about it!

It is weird for sure, but what do you think may have been the scam had you decided to get in? That's what I am not sure about, how they would profit from it.

If the reds don't want to play by the rules then the police shouldn't have to play by the rules as well. Rubber bullets and tear gas, and lots of it, please!!!

Good luck to them and if they decide to take the risk, they must be willing to pay the consequences.

I saw the 'innocents' threatening to petrol bomb bangkok, derail the skytrain, blockade major parts of the city, install blackguard snipers to pick off whoever would be best to pick off politically. Throw pigs blood on private homes, attempt to kill the prime minister by attacking his car, allow renegade soldiers to wreak havoc, hold their babies up to be shot by soldiers, set fire to businesses, bus in the poor to put them up for slaughter, raid markets and kill vendors trying to protect their property, pledge allegiance to overthrow the elite. some innocents!!!

I'd pay a buck. It would weed out 3/4 of the idiots on it.

A lot of the old timers here seem to want to spank the boys. Curious!

If one of my children used bad language at school I would expect the teacher to inform me so that as a parent I could punish them accordingly. If I was informed that a teacher, or anyone else for that matter, had taken it upon themselves to assault any member of my family you better believe that I would respond appropriately.
Exactly. As well, just because some of you feel that hitting, slapping, and other forms of abuse are going to actually improve somebody's behaviour, doesn't mean it will. No doubt there are many irresponsible children out there who could use some discipline. As well, they need people they can look up to. If some yobbish headteacher gives his example of discipline by smacking youngsters on the head, how in the world is he to think that they will not learn from his example and do the same back? Possibly if he had been able to calm himself down and speak to them reasonably they would not have reacted in a violent way back to him.
There seem to be a lot of old timers on this board who love the idea of older men spanking, pinching and smacking boys to get them to behave. These same people also seem to revel about the times they were spanked and smacked and pinched as the "good old days". Quite curious!

Kids these days just have no respect for their elders...Nothing wrong with a clip round the ear...the world is in the state it is due to the leftist liberal ideas of the ruling elite and those thay have brainwashed over the past few decades. Catch em and birch em, show them a lesson.Next time I see your kid messing up and I clip him round the ear, you are ok with that?

By abusing your position and resorting to violence as a teacher you are just reinforcing the misconception that violence is an acceptable means of enforcing your authority. I have very little sympathy with someone who acts violently and gets the favour returned in kind.
He has no right to be slapping children around. As well, he would be stupid to do that, and not think they would lose face and come back to get even. Som nam na I guess.

I really doubt those girls were tricked into what they were doing.
So what do you know about Uzbek prostitutes that would lead you to say that?
I would say he knows very little about prostitutes from anywhere.
Never paid for it before. Not against those that like to buy sex (from other consenting adults), but personally the idea skeeves me out.

The govt. should not make laws or impede the company in any way. People should definitely boycott it and encourage others to boycott it.

Low carb? What arer we really saying? lay off the rubbish food like cakes. But it must be a mistake to avoid good quality carbs, full grain rice, wholewheat bread, spuds, and pasta all extremely important foods.
Empty carbs, all of them. Get your carbs form fresh veg, the more colorful the better. Leave the grains for the cattle.

That's interesting. Can you explain how you make your porridge from flaxseeds? Do you grind them first or use them whole?
Grind a few tablespoons in the coffee grinder. Boil about a half cup water with a splash of cream in it, add the seed, stir a minute, and it is nice and thick. Add a pat of butter, some stevia, and cinnamon. good stuff!

Congrats on post 1,000; and I agree you can keep your macs... I just can't buy into that whole closed ecosystem.
Not quite sure what you mean by that. Organised and logical, yes. Closed? In what way?

Webbkk- don't change! I switched from PC to a mac 1 year ago and it was a terrible decision. Mac OS software is really NOT user friendly compared to windows among the delights you will enjoy are downloading documents and then spending way to long trying to discover where exactly they were downloaded too, horrible apply mac mouses (worst design ever), 'search' file system that doesnt actually search the whole mac system. Overall i was extremely happy to move back to a PC.
1. Downloads go to the "download" folder unless you indicate otherwise.
2. Command-Space brings up the 'spotlight' function. Type what you are looking for and it will (extremely quickly) search you entire computer. Sort your results out however you want. Every folder as well has 'search' in the upper right of the window. Click on that and you can search the folder.
On the notebooks the trackpad is intuitive and highly functional, creating a fluid navigational experience unparalleled by my 20 years of working with Windows.
Not sure what kind of Mac you were using?

Hi all
First of all I found that outside noise interference can effect your results slightly, but if you can turn your Aircon too low and speak at a not too rapid rate of speech, you will have good results. I use my laptop microphone as well to do my dictation, which is something that Dragon could not do without having lots of mistakes.
Yes, I have an American accent and I am sure that this helps me in the dictation area. If you have any kind of different accent it is very difficult for it to understand. as well, my training with dragon probably helped me to understand a little better how to dictate in a clear and not too quick voice. That being said, it is really much faster for me to speak them to type, and I have very very few mistakes. In fact, everything that I've written so far has only had one mistake in one word.
It's a little weird talking to yourself like this, but if you were in a room alone there's no problem. When I am around people I resort to the keyboard :-)
Finally, yes I was referring to Dragon dictate. It is a great program but takes forever to set up and really is no competition compared to the Mac dictate program. The only advantage it has is that it can be used off-line, compared to the Mac dictate which needs to be connected.

Let's talk about desktops.
I have been a PC user since Windows 3.1 and have used every version of Windows since then. I have been trying Windows 8 on a partition on my hard drive and I hate it. Of course I can stick with Windows 7 for quite some time, but I'm thinking maybe it's time to go with Apple.
My reasons: I'm on my third iPhone and I have an iPad. I'm quite happy with them. Most of my work is done on the Internet, so the only frequently used software is Microsoft Office (which is available for the Mac).
That was my case about a year ago: I have been using iPods iPhones and iPads for a few years already. When it was time to get a new laptop, I finally broke down and got myself a good MacBook Pro. I do i a lot of video editing, music production, and photo editing as well on my computer so I wanted something nice and strong. I know that you can get that kind of computer in Windows format, but I really wanted to see what the Mac could do. I have to say I'm very happy with its performance as it never even broke a sweat no matter what I threw at it.
I would say it took me about a month and a half to fully get used to the Mac experience. And then took me another few months to really get used to everything that is different about the Mac and how it makes computing really fun and intuitive. Being a Windows guy since 1992, this is understandable. I never really understood what people were always raving about as far as Macintosh goes, but now I understand.
I say that if you are in the market for a new computer, you really can't go wrong with a Mac. The quality of the product in Windows laptop terms will probably mean a comparable price as well.

I am looking for coconut flour too. Just found this link: http://www.21food.com/products/fiber-flour-459608.html That looks very much like it is plain coconut flour. I wrote them a note, asking where it is sold in Bangkok. If they reply, I´ll post it here. If I can´t find it, I might try and make it myself, but that will be a bit of work . . .
Hi, any luck? I have found one person who said they sold it but when I actually contacted them they only sold coconut oil. I think they had added that product to the list without realizing that they did. I'm not sure if this is the same person that I found that you found as well.
It's quite popular in the United States now to use coconut flour, and I would think that so many coconuts around here there would be at least one person who is producing it. Then again, it is very difficult to just find dried coconut that isn't sweetened, or that is sweetened, for that matter. Just a few years ago it was almost impossible to find coconut oil, but now you see it and have it everywhere.
