I would say most overweight people who don't have a medical condition are eating to replace something else missing in their life. People will eat to mask anger, fear, sadness, loneliness, tiredness. We learn how to do this usually from parents (I did). These comfort foods are also usually high carb and low nutrition (people don't eat a bowl of celery and steak when they are sad).

All this talk about slow and fast eating seems off the point to me. It is all about only eating when you are truly hungry and not eating more once your hunger is gone. Eating a bit slower or waiting after having your first plate to see if there is still hunger is a way to do this.
This is much easier for me to do when my food choices are focused on meat, eggs, veggies, and some dairy. Starches and sugars set off an insulin response that makes you feel like you are hungry even after eating a big meal (ever feel that way after a big greasy plate of fried rice?). Keeping on a keto diet puts me closely in touch with my true hunger.

"The deputy dean of Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Political Science, Pitch Pongsawat, said he believed the political structure that led to the violence 36 years ago had not been fixed. They included the attitudes towards different opinions and violence, the "permission to use violence" and the belief that a military coup can end rifts in society."
I disagree with Pitch Ponsawat. If people have learned something in the past decade is that military coups don't solve problems. And that mob violence, "people power", doesn't solve problems either.
We will have street protests as in the past, and as in all other major democracies, it's an healthy way for people to express their disagreement with government policies. But I believe the excess of the past, like occupying the government house and closing an international airpot with the tacit agreement of some of the political elites and the interference of the army and other third parties in government business are over.
Thailand has finally realized that democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others that have been tried before. (Churchill)
Are you saying that illegal possession of down town Bangkok by armed protesters shooting grenades at public gathering places invading hospitals Talking peace in bad faith and trying to burn Bangkok down are OK.
Or did you just conveniently forget about that?
It's funny how the Red Supporters never answer that question, Dolly. I don't know how many times I've brought up more or less the same question and it is always conveniently overlooked by the Thaksin apologists. Nobody would be against protesters. But terrorists funded by a madman in Dubai is another story!

So was that one hour rainfall this morning all Bangkok will see? Have to say that was all a bit anticlimatic!

A bit of incentive to continue exercising even during a weight regaining phase.
Exercise Counters Negative Effects of Weight Regain, Researchers Find
Interesting, there are just as many studies coming out that excessive exercise does absolutely nothing for weight loss. It's really 90% diet based. I love exercising, but for me it's all about staying limber and having fun, so I go for nice long walks, have an easy swim, or play some badminton with the kids. I see people who are running an hour and a half a day and maxing out at the gym on weights 5 times a week who don't look like they are enjoying it and don't look particularly healthy as well.

while I had cereal for b'fast this morning, at 1000, and when I started on the internet at 1400 this afternoon, I required a packet of Lay crisps and 2 large donuts with cream to stave off feelings of starvation.
When I eat all that processed grain stuff I am constantly hungry, bloated, and tired. When I focus my diet on meat, eggs, greens and colorful veg, and avoid starch, sugar, alcohol and most dairy I feel fantastic strong, and thin. I suppose to each his own!

So will this actually hit BKK in any significant way? Or will it just be regular heavy rain? Just curious.

I appreciate Yingluck for her enthusiasm, it sounds like she listened to some people and had some good conversations there. I can't believe I'm saying something positive about her.
The police situation will never change until they eradicate the element of corruption. As long as the institution relies on and expects regular kickbacks, it will never change. Let's see her go after that!

Quite deep water today on roads at Laksi roundabout all the way to central Ramintra, in spots, on both sides of road. Never seen anything like that, except last year during flood. What's going on?
I believe it has something to do with the fact that it has been raining
Well, yes, but it has rained hard before in previous years without leaving a foot of water covering the road like that.

What about cleaning up the klongs from all the garbage and water- plants and....oh, what do I care!?
Agreed! Here in Sai Mai I took an early morning Sunday drive around to look at various klongs and water walls. Doesn't to me look like they have done any maintainence at all on any of the klongs...still look clogged and the one klong close to the airforce that is crowded with slumhouses, which affected how they can maintain the flow, is still crowded with slum houses. Just my area, but these were key areas of overflow last year, so I would think they would have doen something about them....

Protestors...hmmm...protesters who held young children up above their barricades so soldiers could not shoot back at the protesters' shots...who threatened to burn down Bangkok, who barricaded a major part of downtown Bangkok thus restricting freedom of livelihood for thousands of residents, who chased, caught and killed local market people who did not agree with them, who threatened to blow up a gas tanker in the middle of a residential neighbourhood, who threatened to derail the skytrain with people on it, who had snipers placed strategically all over the place, who smeared their HIV infected blood over private citizens' property and on the streets. I could go on and on. I can only thank the soldiers for dispersing the pests as fast as they did, with as little bloodshed as possible. The red occupancy should be remembered for what it really was - 500 Baht a day for peasants to take over a few city blocks in order to meet a megalomanic's wanky selfish agenda.

I bought a Nokia1200 four years ago for 800 THB
It has been dropped on average of once a month for 4 years
and it keeps on working. I can make and receive calls and can
send and receive SMS
What else do I need a phone for?
My GF has had an Iphone for a year and it has broken 3 times
..
I will not buy a new or old Iphone ... no need.
My 800 THB phone will last me forever
I hope you and your 'feature phone' will be happy together forever!

Outrageous and is nothing but a big <deleted> to the Thai people. Make him accountable, he should have to pay it all back and then be sacked.

With the animosity we see beween city and government officials now, you can be assured that the same political infights will result in no cooperation when the big water comes, and we may face the same situation as last year.

The main question is not whether she wanted to do this surgery or not, it is that unsafe procedures were on offer that I suppose were much cheaper than the legit ones, and she chose to go cheap, and tragedy struck. Unfortunate choice, but maybe the only one she felt she could make.

I loved them when Terry Kath was the lead...they were edgy and psychedelic. Then he ate a bullet and they became a milquetoast band.

Seh Dang was a monster. Som nam na to him and tell his daughter to dry her tears and smell the coffee.

I just wish that Radiohead, the Black Keys, Wilco, or some other modern and good band would come to Bangkok.

Non-Sugar Sweeteners
in I'm Too Fat Forum

I found some powdered Stevia in a "Green" market - in Fashion island. There is also a bottle of sweetener at foodland, the label has leaves that look like Stevia leaves on it. I tried it once but it seemed to cause cravings, so I discontinued it. Personally I am better off avoiding all sweet things.
