The Official Manchester United Thread
JonnyF replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Football forum
I don't think he fell out with ETH. I just think Ten Hag didn't think he had what it takes and put his eggs in the Sancho/Antony basket (Antony BTW has just been dropped from the Brazil side for domestic abuse allegations). https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/sep/04/manchester-united-and-brazil-face-calls-to-drop-antony-after-assault-allegations#:~:text=Antony and Cavallin became a,and on holiday in Brazil. -
Biden Team Isn’t Waiting for Impeachment to Go on the Offensive
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Seems they don't like it when the boot is on the other foot. That's the trouble when you go around bullying the opposition, sometimes they fight back. Given the family's history with illegal activities I am sure they have plenty of contacts in terms of lawyers, and plenty of "friends" in the judiciary. -
I won't wear a helmet, makes me look stupid
JonnyF replied to scubascuba3's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
I hate not wearing a helmet. For a start, a farang riding around BKK without a helmet sticks out like a sore thumb and I feel like a right nob. Secondly, you get bugs in your face, dust in your eyes etc. I also enjoy the anonymity of wearing a full face helmet, plus if you crash without one, at very least you'll mess your face up and at worst die or end up with brain injury/in a wheelchair. I had a bad crash in 2020 on Ekkamai. I had 6 broken bones but my face and head was fine. You can see from my helmet what my jaw/face/head would have looked like if I hadn't had it on. I was still knocked unconscious, but I haven't had any issues other than not being able to remember the accident itself, which is probably a blessing. I was very lucky. -
Electric car fire: Week-old million baht vehicle ignites in Udon Thani mall
JonnyF replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I wouldn't fancy driving them through the BKK floods either, which are a regular occurence in wet season. Given the batteries are normally located at the centre bottom of the car. -

I'm expecting to see a lot more of these incidents as more and more people buy these Chinese EV's. I wonder how insurance premiums will be affected. I can't imagine it's a cheap fix once you car has burnt out. -

Well that settles the argument then. If you went to a party with some Thai friends (following your time in Thailand) then that settles all debate (assuming you didn't just make it up to prove a point of course). ???? Personal anecdotes are SOOOO reliable. -

No comment on the strength of the UK economy? Did you miss the link? ???? https://www.bbc.com/news/business-66680188 I seem to remember you were one of the biggest proponents of Project Fear. Would you like to admit the UK is performing better far, far than you predicted? (that's a rhetorical question BTW ????). Must be irritating to have been so wrong. -
Public support for new Brexit referendum revealed

Anecdotal, yet as is so often the case, backed up by the figures. In areas like London the trend is amplified. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_the_United_Kingdom#Ethnicity Britain is by far more mutli-cultural now than before. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing depends on your view of multi-culturalism but if the UK and the US are anything to go by, it's far from the sunlit uplands that Guardian readers would have us believe it is. -
Public support for new Brexit referendum revealed

Good post. I agree with much of it but not the last paragraph. It was not a mistake, it was the correct decision. But there is zero chance of us returning. The EU would indeed want a huge Euro of flesh to "punish" the UK for leaving in the first place. This would mean ditching the pound and getting a worse deal than we had before (which wasn't very good hence us leaving). This would never work as it would create huge resentment and bitterness, and as soon as we rejoined there would be an immediate campaign to leave again, and that is the last thing the EU wants. So it's better for the Europhiles to just accept they lost and move on. In the meantime, the UK's next step should be to leave the ECHR. We can't have the UK's parliament being over-ruled by appointed judges in Strasbourg. It's anti-democratic. Meanwhile the truth about the strength of UK economy is starting to leak out following all the lies during and even after Project Fear. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-66680188 -

Yeah 2 goals in added on time. United had Maguire and Evans at centre back for much of the game. How that has happened after the money they've spent is quite incredible. Ten Hag has fallen out with Sancho. Elanga has gone while Martial stays. Quite a few injuries. Sat 11th in the table with City, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool all looking strong. It's going to be a long season I think... -

United were a bit unlucky with the Garncho offside yesterday. Although, given the gift they got against Wolves 6 points from 12 is probably about right given their performances. Brighton after the international break will be a tough game though. -
US English teacher arrested for sexual relation with 16 y/o student

What he did is Ephebophilia. Not Paedophilia. Not defending it, but let's use correct terminology when labeling people. -
Does this mean visas will be easier to obtain if we wear dresses and lipstick to immigration and adopt the mannerisms of Julian Clary? Oh I dooooo hope so. Maybe I'll change my name to JoannaF. ????

Hundreds of thousands forced to scam in SE Asia: UN
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
More victim blaming nonsense. My sympathy is with those scammed out of their life savings. Not the scammer who comes up with with some lame "they made me do it" excuse. Pathetic. -

Maybe you could sympathise with the honest individual (often elderly) who has been scammed out of their hard earned life savings, rather than with the scammer who claims he was "forced to do it"? These people know what they are doing. They think it is easy money and then when they get caught they roll out the usual sob story. I know the left love to sympathize with criminals but this might be a bit OTT even by your standards.
